- I made a cinematic Grogu short film using the Unreal Engine in 15 days.
Story: With help from his Father, Baby Yoda (Grogu) cons his acting agent to score a big slice of merchandise sales. Star Wars fan film made by 1 dude in 15 days @ home using:
Unreal Engine, Xsens suit (for body motion capture), iPhoneX (for Face capture).
The Force Theme (Far Out Remix) by Far Out

This was amazing on its own merits, but knowing one person made it in less than a month is unbelievable! Fantastic work!
That was amazing...... for a minute I forgot that I was watching a UA-cam video created by a single person & not a high-budget hollywood movie that was awesomeeeee......
Omg! The best!!! Love the whole thing! His lisp (in combination with his yoda style speech) was the perfect touch***
Amazing Brother...
seriously wow dude, every aspect, acting too
Jesus … this is incredible
Woah, this is so underrated! It needs more attention! I'll make sure to share it to someone!
I love that Grogu can speak 🤩 great animation. Wow
guess the excuse it takes a whole production crew is out the window ! crazy good, still boggling how one person could do all this.
very impressive it is.

This channel is going to Kick off to 1million very soon.
Wow! This was so enjoyable to watch! Excellent quality in every aspect including dialogue. Thanks for sharing who and how this video clip was created and all by one person. Great job 👍🏻 ! Look forward to seeing more!
Outstanding work! Amazing that this was a 1 person effort! Clearly the right talent, experience, and tools are critical to achieving that!
Holy crap, man! You did all that yourself, meanwhile I just sit here trying not to drool on myself. So impressive! I was convinced the Agent was voiced by Lou Ferigno.
haha, thanks Michael!
Great stuff.

The Frogs are strong in this one.

Cory!! I love this! 🤍🤍🤍
Genuinely impressed! Congratulations! Would be very interested in a making-of/behind-the-scenes video
Awesome
That was wonderful! The animation is superb and I love the voice of Grogu. I also love that you put Yoda in here and he calls him pops. We all know who the real dad is 😅 Also, the frog with the lightsaber cracked me up.
Well done, really cool, very talented.
This is amazing!!!!!! ahaha!!!
Great work Cory! Wish I was as productive in 15 days.

How do you do the voices???
Omg this is the greatest
HaHa hilarious, great job!
Well, I guess Grogu really didn't want to end up in S3 after all
Huge thanks for using our Galactic dignitary as the agent. Though you didn't mention that in the credit. :D Thanks for the support! It's so cool!
This was good but very tall order indeed
WOW
Great work! Last year I bought 2 Xsens suits and 2 iPhones to do this. Works good individually, but it's a pain transferring files around. I wasn't sure if you could stream 2 channels simultaneously, but obviously you can. Curious - is your headgear homemade or off-the-shelf?
Thanks Blair! I actually didn't stream simultaneously (1 character at a time) but from what I understand, you can easily stream at least 4 xsens on 1 machine, and more if you tie computers together. The headgear is from mocapdesign.com though im not in love with it. It seems they have a new version which might be better fitting/stable?
@@trickdiggidy Thanks for info, Cory. For streaming, I actually meant to stream the Facecap FBX data along with the Xsens data (2 sources) simultaneously from one actor into MoBu. For me the unknown is the Facecap, did you use OSC for this?
@@blairzettl3933 ah gotcha. Yeh I stream xsens right into UE4 using their Livelink plugin, so im not using Mobu but I might switch back to Mobu to help solve some swimming feet issues. For the face, im using Unreal's Live Link Face app (free on the app store) which streams right into the same character animBP.
@@trickdiggidy Great thanks for the info. On the feet issue, we had an issue with drift then I had a live tut from Xsens last year and the rep recommended actually taping the sensor to the feet. Works like a charm. We use painter's tape.
@@blairzettl3933 nice tip!
Salute to You Sir
More impressive than the Mandalorion itself
You have set some serious standards now with one man army.
hey man, watch it so often.... its si cool, where you made/arrange your characters? iam a blenderboy who comes to ue4/5, iam not bad in animation, now starting with rokoko. this is so good! its absolutely amazing. its so well done you scratch tge original mandolarian and
this is so cool!! from point of dialogs! TO PERFORM tgem life is a gift for you, because you are so talented and funny!!
amazing that there are no 300000 views!!
This is what would have happened if star wars Detours was never cancelled
MORE! :D
Yeeeeeees!
It's Grogu, not "Baby Yoda" 👁️👄👁️
But the video itself was hilarious 😅
Hey Cory, this is really great. Lotsa work I can see... wow. are you doing the baby yoda's cloth all in UE? or using any baked alembic as well and importing? Also are you syncing facial and body mocap manually inside maya or is it possible to trigger iphone facial recording from mvn animate? anyways you rock!!
Thanks man! Baby Yoda's cloth is done in UE4 and for the most part could be even better with some love. No alembic on anything. I didn't really use Maya for much other than some modeling and getting the blendshapes setup for characters like the frog and agent. All the face and body syncing is happening inside UE4... basically MVN streams the body data and im using Unreal's Live Link face app to stream the face data. Though when I hit 'record' i also send a record UDP command from UE4 to MVN to start MVN recording. This way I can later process the HD data and (give or take a frame) it syncs with the face data because i'm hitting record at the same time. Kinda ghetto but it works!
I feel like I just had a fever dream what's happening
what is the characteristic of your computer (Mac or pc) to render all and in what time you do it? thanks! nice job
Thanks! I just have a single PC with an Nvidia 2080 ti and since it's all done in the Unreal Game Engine, it pretty much renders in realtime or pretty damn close, which is a big reason why I can do this type of stuff fairly fast!
Tutorial pretty please?!?
lol, it's not out of the question, just a matter of squeezing it in somehow!
WOW!!! Cancel Disney+ and watch this cancel instead. Well done.
I am wondering why it takes so long since the ratio of 7.50 mins to ratio of 15 days that is 24 times 15 hours, which is 360 hours but into mins that is 21,592.5, so 360 times 60 mins to 2,600, so subtract 7.50 into answer above, so it is more than 100 times, so it is because you have to type which input from reality to computer, or to render the computer into reality takes days or so? So, to convert actual into code into the computer, so basically codewriter?? It can't be acting, and phone, etc since the acting, phone, and visual is blending at same time, so what is other part that take so long? I doubt it is build up from completely new, since ya have all products complete but need to put products together to make it a whole, or create a products that is few or so?
There's so many processes that take time, starting with writing a script, then searching through 3D marketplaces for props, vehicles, environments, characters, etc... Then once you purchase the 3D assets, they are far from usable right away (The quality of 3d models varies greatly), So I spend a lot of time cleaning up models, re-texturing them to be higher quality or better for the story; getting them all prepped for importing into the game engine, etc... with the characters like the Agent, I have to do all the rigging for the face so it can talk & upgraded his textures.
Once the motion capture is done, I have to import all that into the project and start finding the best takes, then set those takes on the timeline and stitch them together into one long take. Then there's blocking out the scene with camera movements, lighting & Editing (which takes a lot of time). Then refining edit, lighting and cameras. I have to process the voices... then do all the sound design and music which takes me a long time because I'm learning as I go. In fact Im learning most all of this as I go....
and there's always problems that come up along the way with all the various software and hardware involved. And I imagine I'm leaving out a ton of steps ;P
Fun fact Yoda doesn't talk backwards
Hi!!!! I LOVE YOUR WORK SO MUCH!!
I really wanna go into animation like you, please can you give me your IG handle so I can contact!!
Thanks man!!
Thanks! @effectzero
He is Gogru not yoda
Wrong, he is Grogu
Not remotely funny, but a good demonstration of what one person can accomplish in terms of production. And for that, it’s interesting and gets a thumbs up.
How the hell did this video make me hate Baby Yoda!?
Why make him talk like yoda? That was really cringe worthy. However, your animation skill is absolutely stunning. It is really really impressive. Nice work.
Thanks! i hear you on the yoda talk... It seemed like a good idea in my head but after doing it I realized it didn't come across, at all. live n learn!
