Chicken Fried Steak has to be made correctly. You don't just take a piece of steak, bread it and fry it. You have to take a piece of thin steak, I use Round Steak, pound it until it's thin and tender, then dip the pieces in flour/milk/flour, then fry it. Then you make gravy with the leftover drippings and serve with mashed potatoes. It's amazing!

Actually it's better if it's not thin. It dries out too quickly. But it does have to be tenderized. You can beat it with a meat mallet or ask the butcher to tenderize it for you. Thin looks pretty but us usually dry as a shoe.

Having eaten squirrel before, I can honestly say that if you like dark meat from your turkey or chicken, you’ll probably like it. It’s not oily or greasy at all and honestly it’s pretty tender.

I suggested revisiting that one. I haven't had squirrel before but when I googled it the result said it's somewhere between rabbit and chicken, with dark meat chicken as a taste compromise between the two. Using beef wouldn't give the same experience as that.

Fully agree! Looked as if they just used canned food mostly. The fact, they ate sauerkraut directly from the jar, so, probably, not even heated, said it all...
Also, the beef stew looked very much ready-made.
As for chicken fricassee: it's so easy to be cooked... and so worth the effort!
A pity, they didn't take more effort there. They could easily have done it a long-term project and do one or two dishes per day, but preparing each of them in a proper way and really enjoy the food, they prepared. We wouldn't have known.
In the end, the presidents, most likely, had the best cooks around, so, comparing canned food to what most of the presidents liked, is just not a good match.
To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed. With Alessio, as an Italian, I would have suspected, they would be preparing everything freshly (except for the nowadays available fast food, of course).

Leather britches “green beans and bacon” are a specific type of way to preserve green beans. They’re picked whole, strung on thread, then slowly dried.
When cooked, they have to be reconstituted with water, and usually cooked with bacon because of the grease.

When I was 8 years old I read a true story of royalty. A whole bunch of stories shoved in a book. .. of what it was like to be royal..
One of the stories changed my life. Change my perspective on everything. I was seven when I read it..
A king arguing to his upper constituents, these are the real men in charge. The king states. You must fund a war.. the rich men at the table laughed at him. Why would we do that? People pay us money in tax. If they can't pay us in tax, we will take it in their goods. And if they don't produce goods then we will use them. Why would we ever start a war. We own everything. And life is good.
The king walked around the room. Grabbed the meat from one man's mouth. Grab the cloak and fur and jewels from another's shoulders. Grabbed a large gold goblet full of wine. He sat down with his new findings. Eating his meat. Checking out his new duds.. his outfit.
He said to the men as he chug down the wine. If you think a common man cannot be as wise, to be ordained by God because he claims to be so. If you think every lavish accruement we have attained ordained by God because we claim to be so.
If we do not keep them in perpetual emotion and motion against each other. Every lavish recruitment we have attained ordained by God will cease to exist. And social our Royal blood ties.
Yeah the next year after I witnessed Reagan and the attempt on his life. Oh I saw it plain as day. I was trying to convince my grandfather that we are all enslaved. We are not royalty. Everyone that goes into politics is royalty. Old Hollywood royalty and how it has changed. It's really dark. It's within our religion too.. you'll see.
Mind Unveiled - has excellent work on the children of the trains. As well as the cabbage patch children. The odd fellows group which became the finders group which became our family court system.. that have their own judges. Their own set of rules they can go after these people over and over and over and over again. And they do..
Once you start seeing the tethers of the information I'm handing you. You step back and look at the wars. You step back and look at the years in 20 years increments. Y'all they have completely de - educated y'all... many of you can't even see the patterns right in front of your face.. it's so shocking to me.. 😢
You want to see the terraforming of your history. No more than lies agreed upon. This is your most important rabbit hole.

Ok, hear me out on the cottage cheese and ketchup… As a young kid growing up in New England, hot dogs and baked beans was a common Saturday night supper. We usually had cottage cheese as a side for more protein, and I would put cottage cheese on my hotdog bun, then put the hot dog in and then some ketchup. It was delicious and I always crave it when I’m pregnant (with a side of pickles!)

You missed the point of country frying 'steak'. Country fried steak is a cheap cut of meat that is very tough [cube steak or a lower quality round steak. They have to tenderize it either with pounding it or a machine that puts hundreds of little cut across the meat. You have to batter it, to hide the fact the meat had to be tenderized.
You don't use quality piece of beef, like you did.

And that cottage cheese with ketchup! How is it a favorite food? Don't get me wrong, I like cottage cheese and I like ketchup. Separately. Put it in the crockpot for about 6-8 hrs. Get some sourdough bread and provolone… we make our own coleslaw and add a little Serrano pepper to it (chop it really small) you can buy a pack of unmade coleslaw in vegetable section add some vinegar, mayo, sugar and lemon juice. You have homemade coleslaw. First of all the meat comes out so tender and amazing! Put the meat and provolone between two slices of buttered sourdough grill both sides. Add the Cole slaw to it… and you have the best sandwich you’ll ever eat!!! I know you probably think it’s sounds bad but I’m telling you it’s AMAZING!!! It’s one of our families favorites!! What you saw they ate is not how this turns out this meat is so tender it just false apart and melts in your mouth!

New englander here, you have to boil everything together, so the salty meat flavors the veggies and potatoes. You put loads of butter on it and serve it with a side of mustard (with whole mustard seeds) and horseradish sauce. Try it again, you'll love it.

Au contraire mon frere! John Quincy Adams planted fruit trees at the White House. After his presidency, he planted an orchard containing peaches, apples, plums and apricots at his home at (of course) Quincy, Mass. Google peach picking in Massachusetts and several farms will pop up. It is a challenge to grow peaches there, but some varieties are heartier and more suited to the climate. 🍑

Is that beef stew from a can??? I mean, that stuff is nasty. Homemade beef stew with a healthy splash of red wine and fresh herbs is incredible. Okay, moving further along, some of these foods are horrible looking. Are they frozen? I mean, clam chowder is excellent but not from a can or a container, it has to be homemade. The chicken fried steak didn't even look like chicken fried steak. There again, outstanding when prepared properly. Sorry, but I've been a professional cook, I can't help myself 😄

In the north of Europe (Sweden here) we love pickled herring. But what do you expect from a jar? When you do it right it is a delight. In the summer it is more accepteble to explore new recipes. A new one is with lemon zest and it is lovely. You can also do it with chili and herbs. We also have a lot with dairy (sour cream) but me personally think herring and dairy can be a little tricky.

Pot roast should really melt in your mouth, too. Give me all the black jelly beans! Pork rinds are such a great snack! I'm a pass of fast food...in general. And Dubbya can keep his cheeseburger pizza. Leave pizza alone! I can't eat ice cream...but my partner can't keep it in the freezer cuz it would disappear.
