Loewe is quite poorly known, and only as a composer of noticeable ballads for voice and piano. Here, he shows that he had a wider inspiration and was quite able to develop it, in ad dramatic and very well orchestrated symphony in D minor.
This painting was perfectly selected for the piece: Bright and refreshing, but with the always present heavy stormy clouds.
