    I’m trying out shrimp soon and I’ve read they climb out, does that just have to do with bad water parameters? Just curious since I like my tanks open top so I can add terrestrial plants.

      This is true. I actually made a video about this few months back: ua-cam.com/video/EmIBcjEC4Cg/v-deo.html there can be many reasons, but water parameters is one of them. But I still think you should try :) Good luck!

    Does this have any termostate/filter/co2 ?

    • @AquascapingCube

      No, there is nothing. Light is the only equipment there is.

      If you don’t have a lot of fish (not much oxygen consumption) with a planted tank the plants will produce enough oxygen. You don’t even need a light, turn your room light on. The trick is having enough plants, and enough light, in an old enough tank that has a stable microlife which is what keeps the parameters stable.

    Your doing it wrong. You should wet the soil first

      Nope, you can leave it dry as long as you do it quick enough.

    Hi actaully i am having a 20l aquarium with a tiny bit of monte carlo tukked in the aqua soil
    I have also added a diy co2
    Can monte carlo carpt with diy co2 ?
    And if yes then how much time will it take to cover the entire bottom?

    • @AquascapingCube
      @AquascapingCube  4 місяці тому

      Yes, it can totally work. But will take some time, we are talking months here. Focus on the light - to not overdo it at the beginning, make frequent water changes to avoid algae and see what happens. Good luck!

    • @AquascapingCube
      @AquascapingCube  8 місяців тому

      This one was 17x17x17cm, but I was made from scrap glass, not mass production. I would suggest to go for this one: amzn.eu/d/j4znNzH. 20x20x20cm is great size to start with and easier to run

    What does active soil mean? Do u tank it from other tank or its new packed?

    • @AquascapingCube
      @AquascapingCube  11 місяців тому +1

      No, it was brand new Yokuchi jiban soil. Active soil is very rich in nutrients and can influence Ph of your tank.

    What active soil did you use? Does it have to be specifically for aquariums?

    • @AquascapingCube

      It was Yokuchi Jiban Soil. Yes, it should be dedicated to aquariums.

    • @wheelbite9

      You can use dirt from your yard if you're on a budget. Cook it in the oven to get rid of anything living in it first though. I use the cheapest bag of top soil from my local garden store capped with black sand. Dedicated aquasoils break down into weird sticky clumps when the nutrients are depleted over time.

      Father fish has interesting info about soil.

    • @wheelbite9
      @wheelbite9 Рік тому

      @BlizzardyBlue interesting is one way to put it. He has a lot of good info, but he also has a lot of junk science. He once said on a live stream that climate change is a hoax because CO2 occurs in nature. He has also said that beginners can build a filterless tank (for fish). Take everything he says with a massive grain of salt.
