    I watched this at the cinema when it came out. Was absolutely mind blowing! This was a golden age of special effects for my generation - Jurassic Park, Twister, Independence Day etc. I was too young to see T2 at the cinema, but these films were amazing. I remember on the drive back from the cinema with my mum and dad, and siblings, my mum said "what would you do if a T-Rex came over that hill right now?", the realness of the SFX was so fresh in our minds, we all said "shut uuuuup muuuum!!" 🤣😂

      Wow I’m jealous. I was born in 95 so it was around for a while when I first watched it. But even then, this movie was mind blowing for kids. Like I get upset now when I hear a kid say they’ve never seen it. Best special effects in film in my opinion.

    You can see with the Triceratops why this movie still holds up today. That was an animatronic on set, a machine the actors can see and touch.
    And you can see that they believed it, even for a second there.
    CGI makes beautiful, stunning pictures, building real things makes real pictures.

      It’s really well done. Part of it is that long reaction shot of the characters discovering them for the first time. Also the music and the motion is so heavy and realistic. Such a well-done film.

      Jurassic Park's CGI was so amazing that the entire industry just kinda...stopped getting better, quality-wise. Sure, CGI is easier due to better tools, and computers are vastly more powerful and more affordable and can therefore process it much faster, but otherwise, not much has changed.

    The book the movie is based on actually has a few differences in its outcome, and you get to hear a lot more of Malcolm's outlook on the park and trying to control nature in general.
    Muldoon -- the hunter with the shotgun -- actually doesn't use a shotgun in the book. He uses huge tranquilizers, because Hammond refused to buy the weapons he requested to put down the dinosaurs if the need arose beyond a single rocket launcher, which is actually necessary because the fully grown dinosaurs are built in such a way that they won't go down unless you rip them apart. If memory serves he actually ends up hitting one with a rocket and it manages to limp away, wounded but still alive.
    It's also worth mentioning that different characters die in the book than do in the movie.

    • @InsanityGrant
      @InsanityGrant 2 роки тому +4

    Also. if you suffer electrocution, it will cause your muscles to activate...so if you're gripping something, you will tend to grip it as strongly as you can, as the current activates your electro-chemical motor nerves. Tim wouldn't have been thrown off the fence, he would have gripped it, pulled himself closer, and continued to cook. I've noticed this mistake in a few Spieilberg films...in his universe, you get thrown back by electricity.

    • @MJoy4Fun
      @MJoy4Fun  2 роки тому +1

      that applies for low type of electricity.. but i know when the electric source is bigger the negative muscles takes over.. meaning letting it go is stronger than holding it tight.. like doing a bench press.. when u push it is harder than when you pull cuz back muscles are stronger

    • @michaelccozens
      @michaelccozens 2 роки тому +3

      @@MJoy4Fun Sorry, but definitely not true, especially for the hands. The muscles that cause the fingers to grip are far stronger than those that cause them to extend. That's the basis of a basic safety technique; if you're not sure if something's live, and you absolutely have to touch it, you do so with the back of your hand (exactly the opposite of what Dr. Grant did with the fence, which was about the worst thing he could have done. Hands aside, grabbing the wire with both hands created a path for a current to flow directly across his chest, and therefore his heart. Paralyzing the main muscle keeping you alive is... not great).
      High levels of electric current paralyze though general muscle contraction. It's like parts of a specific type of seizure, and people experiencing those generally don't violently push themselves around the room. There are videos of people being electrocuted. One of the oft-overlooked ironies of this movie is Hammond's repeated use of the phrase "spared no expense." Sure, he had state-of-the-art technology, gourmet meals, and all that, but skimped where he should have truly spared no expense: redundant systems so no one person could shut down the power, and paying his employees. It's a bit more clear in the book, but Nedry only tried to steal the embryos because he felt he was underpaid & underappreciated by Hammond. Heck, even paying to put two screws holding the sign to the post would have prevented it from twisting around; Nedry would have dropped off the can & returned to the restart the power if Hammond hadn't been miserly on things that weren't designed to draw in the tourists.

    Grant tells the kid how the raptor in front is a decoy and they attack from the side, exactly how Muldoon dies. Grant says the rex doesn't want to be fed it wants to hunt, it is only interested in the gallimimus and raptors. Grant has two female buckles on the helicopter descent but ties them together, the only female breeding control is solved by one partner changing their role.

      This isn't really that well documented in many dinosaurs but it is true for Rex, I believe. They had two lives, essentially. When they were smaller, they hunted more, and if they were lucky and grew to adulthood, they had a massive growth spurt (arms not included) and would adapt to a more scavenger/fighter lifestyle in order to get all the needed meat to upkeep its body.
