Snorkelling Key West, Ft Zachary Taylor SP

Video showing snorkelling conditions at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park in Key West Florida. Additionally some bonus footage of a manatee that I came across while snorkelling off Sombrero Beach in Marathon, FL. The intent of the video is to let you see the conditions for yourself so you can decide if snorkelling off the beach is right for you.

You dont have to get a mile off shore for clarity. It just depends on the sun and water conditions. If its choppy with waves the sand gets kicked up. If you go on a clear day with no chop and the water is still, its crystal clear.

Hi, you’re absolutely right. The hardest part of any Florida, or sea, vacation is getting lucky on the weather and water conditions. Some times of year are generally better than others, but even then any day can practically be any condition. Just luck. Always best to have as many days as possible in the area in the hopes of getting a few good ones.

Thanks a lot for sharing this! I am looking for a variety of spots to snorkel in the keys and this looks like a nice option. Yes, manatees are HUGE! I was once snorkeling in cloudy water and they scared me! Very special moment for sure.
