I must express my admiration for such undertakings.Whilst the English appear to have departed from the maritime scene the Dutch have pressed on and are now in the forefront of all such developments.I wish you all good fortune.
15 years ago, i had a job at Lips Dunen ( Now it's Wartsila) the workshop i've been working is compleet gone.....anly a small service station is remaining. don'n know if the name wartsila is still there....lot's of job's ar gone.
Rob, I worked for LIPS USA and did four weeks of training at Lips Drunen in 2002. Rob Gieben, Carl Ryss, Henk de Hoo and others who's names escape me. I trained mostly in the overhaul shop. Where were you?
I like how he's pronouncing Wärtsilä correctly even though he's speaking English :) That usually never happens with Finnish names. Regards from Finland.
true... but once you start watching, the WHOLE video is super cool! I live in the Netherlands for 10 yrs and never knew this great company existed here ;-)
The Netherlands looks like a neat place for industry. I will think about going there to work after I get my Professional Engineering license in Mechanical Engineering.
+Alain Bard Hey really big propeller casting , what is the weight of the castings. I have a Non Ferrous Foundry in India making lots of casting in Bronze & Al Bronze .
I often wonder who is buying the millions of carbide inserts I make. Wow I cannot imagine how much CNC was done to create some of those components. Thanks for the job security!
Definitely, would be a dream job for me, especially, in the refabrication of parts, and engine repair. Would love to work on a motor, that I could stand up straight in...!!!!! Lol....!!!!!
That's because workers in Europe take responsibility for their own actions and do not hide under unions, workmans comp, lawyers, etc etc. They are not as sue happy and the courts use common sense not "the law". When my family toured plants over there they noticed the lack of safety gear as well. Basically its your own choice. If you stick your finger in there and it gets cut off, your own fault for not thinking, learning or paying attention That is why their quality is so high people there care
brilliant,we do not see the most efficient combustion engine here though, the 2 cycle crosshead, the lowest fuel use of them all measured in grammes/ shp/hour, turning at 100 to 150 rpm, 10000 times the power of a powerful car turning at 5000rpm
Wärtsilä was founded in Finland in 1834 as a metal products manufacturer. Their head office and main product development are still in Finland but Wärtsilä operates in more than 70 countries now.
Yes, but do you work on big engines? In English, wartzilla sounds kind of funny, godzilla like. I know, I know, all this spectacular work, and I just make stupid comments. Just the logistics for a company like this must be a nightmare.
no need to be ashamed. have you heard the -Germans- speak english? ( i am one...though luckily with no more accent because i speak english nearly as long as i speak german)
Tim van der wiel Huh, I guess most regional accents can sound pretty odd compared to the one that's most common to you. His accent sounds totally fine to me.

Finnish
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a sand base to protect the weld from contamination (by oxygen) during the welding process ?
I am very happy to see the vidoe after you give this Wartsila in the Netherlands
Thumbs up if you are Dutch and only clicked it because you are proud of your country!

that ship engine is very very nice
when we build things we build them to work. and they do work.
I wonder how much of this showcased success is based at the expense of cheap foreign labor.

6:05 What on earth is happening there? It looks like some kind of weld, but what sorcery turns powder to weld?!
Powder welding is used for thick welds where normal welding wire isn't enough.

Doesn't mean that I can't be proud of my country does it?
Petrol Head, using its Thruflow © patent pending inventions can replace all camshafts, valves and valve springs in engines like these! We have a simpler and much lighter design, use less components, simpler air, gas, fuel regulation into an engine. Petrol Head would love to get into these beasts to help improve there power output even more!
I would love them Turbo's....
On my work we transport those propellers
Will Wartsila ever have competition from Nigeria? Nope.
Wartsila doesn't do small.
Building better worlds.
