Happy New Year!! I am going to work on some non-book stuff today, but if I get through all that, I shall continue reading either The Resurrectionist by A. Rae Dunlap or Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Q1. This is hard because I am already very good at detecting when people are lying (if it's face to face or someone I have an actual relationship with) and I've made a huge conscious effort since I was about 16 to not lie (unless it's lying about what I bought people for their birthday/Christmas because that IS a necessary lie!) BUT I guess being able to detect whenever a politician or a public figure is lying would be a very very nice thing to know, so I choose that! I love how basically all of us are just "I really try to live without lying" so we're all clearly in the right livestream. WOW it's the same author of Hyperion?! I had no idea either! I still need to read Hyperion... 2024 Stats? Oh yeaaahhh. Take your time but I'll defo watch and I'll show you mine if you show me yours. I think having a lot of unread book wouldn't bother me if the books I bought 10 years ago weren't still in that pile... but I still really want to read them!! But, yeah.. it does make me feel guilty that my unread pile is still 90% books I bought between 2010 and 2014. What are your all-time best/fav books by the way? Q2. Real magic with low tech! PLEASE!!! We wouldn't need to pay bills for gas and electricity anymore cos we could just use fire magic!! Q3. I only have one resolution and it's book related which is: no reading challenges or goals this year. I tend to go really overboard with read-a-thons and reading challenges and I wasn't enjoying myself last year at all and it really reflected in my reading (average star rating was 3.1), so this year I am just going to read without any goals or anything influencing it in mind. Q4. Well, because everyone has been talking about and reading The Terror and Ministry of Time recently, I went out of my way to read into the actual history about the expedition. So, I learnt about that. Q5. I accomplished booking my flights and hotel for Korea yesterday! My best friends of over 20 years are flying to Korea for their first time ever and I couldn't pass up flying from Japan to spend time with them! I am VERY EXCITED.
Aw, I hope you have the best time visiting your friends! Also we are very similar in how long we keep books. Pachinko was probably my top book of 2024 and I had that for soooooo long it's not even funny. How many 5 stars am I sitting on? We shall see! All time best/fav books is hard because there are many. If you haven't seen my top 10 sci-fi books video, that would be a good one to watch as well as my 20 book recommendations across 10 genres video
