Man I’ve started following your channel for about a year, binge watched a lot of them and just love the topics you cover and how you cover them. It’s so cool to hear youre a teacher and makes a ton of sense with they way you present things. Your students probably love ya! Thanks for all you do man.
This is my 13th year as a high school teacher. It's an incredibly demanding career with LONG hours, but it's also fun and fulfilling (most of the time). Thanks for the kind words . . . it means a lot!
FYI, the Mew is worth more with the corrected back, as it was an error caught late into the cycle, and as a result, only the very late ones has a corrected back, and NMs of those asks for a huge price tag as a result.
Isn't the same with the corrected pop series 5 pikachu I think (on wailmer) found one in a card store that was corrected I snagged it but wasn't 100% sure if it was more rare
Very nice return! The inverted back on the pop series mew is very common but its an awesome card regardless and its fairly expensive even in a lower grade
I'm an Alakazam fan as well. Lost my childhood collection in storage theft, so now rebuilding my collection with base set, jungle set, and fossil set-- all in unlimited. Collecting in PSA slabs. Love all the vintage artwork. Not really into the 1st edition thing, albeit still cool. Appreciate you sharing!
I have a Rocket's Scyther with a swirl, too! The swirl even looks to be near the same spot. Mine, however, is a PSA 7. But I think the number 7 pairs well with Scyther, anyhoo. It is definitely by far one of my favorite Gym Heroes cards!
psa 100 percent grades harder now on these old psa's. I have old psa 7 cards that are pretty beat up. Now you get just 1-2 print lines and its already a 6-7.
I’m brand new to this and have a couple of questions. Your opinion would be very helpful. I want to send in my Shadow Mewtwo Amiibo card to get graded by either PSA or CGC. The thing is it’s sealed in the original plastic it came in. The cards condition is mint. Now my question is should I send it as is (likely with signs of minor finger prints on the plastic), or take it out of the seal and send it out raw (incased carefully in something else). I want really want to go for that perfect 10 grading. What would you do?
Very surprised the Dark Dragonite came back a 10, the centering looks off even from our view. It's more easily seen from the back of the card. Does PSA have more leniency on centering for vintage cards compared to edge/surface/corner damage? Does that standpoint change from vintage to modern? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy you got the 10, just curious for my knowledge. Thanks and love your channel!
Also, some more info on your Pop series 5 Mew - (great card btw). TPC did not include holos in their 2-card booster packs for any series within the POP set. Holos such as this Mew as well as Pikachu were only available to obtain through blister packs of the main expansions as a promo card. Funny enough, there are more inverted back holo prints of the Mew and Pikachu than there are of their right-side-up holo counterparts. It was an issue from the onset of printing for these cards, and only got corrected towards the end of printing run for them. Though they are more common, it doesn't take away at all from how cool the inverted back cards are!! I have an inverted back Pikachu and I'm on the hunt for one of the corrected backs myself :D
PSA allows for centering to be off by a 60/40 ratio on the front and 75/25 on the back (regardless of era) for a Gem Mint 10. 75/25 is obviously bad centering, so they are over-lenient in my opinion. The front 60/40 seems reasonable. The top and bottom on the front weren’t as bad as the back, but must have been flirting with the 60/40 limit. In my anecdotal experience, PSA is more strict on surface and edges, but there is always some degree of inconsistency and subjectivity involved.
Man I love vintage I'm collecting all WOTC booster packs no unlimited besides base set I'm only after 1st edition. I'm 2 packs away from completing my set and thats Skyridge and 1st Ed Base Set I do have a gem of a shadowless pack that i got from a collector in Japan which i absolute love. My question is I have a 1st edition Neo Slowking that has zero print lines and is perfectly centered with no scratches or white chipping on the back. It's perfect in my eyes, so I'm really hoping for a 10 but I'm torn on which company I should use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
If it gets a PSA 10 it will be worth a lot more (five figures easily) than a CGC 10. It's one of the lowest population PSA 10 cards. A CGC Pristine 10 or a BGS Black label 10 would also be huge, but less likely to grade. Best of luck with whichever option you choose.
I should tell the comment readers that PSA do pop control vintage really hard. Ever since PSA 10 of vintage goes up in the price of grands. It’s also quite evident in here where you can hardly got 10s even for non holos. Those cards looks better than 98% of ungraded samples out in the wilds too. Bottom line is just forget PSA if you are sending vintage for grading, just go for Beckett or CGC for vintage.
It's hard to say . . . most of these cards had slight centering issues, a dot or two of edgewear on the back, or a holo print line. The grades were very close to my pre-grades.

Really important for PSA to control Pop especially on ten, like many others say.
ehh...should see what they did call 10s in years past. These would all, without a doubt, be a 10 5+ years ago. They have moved the markers.
stellar cards man. absolutely amazing. nice relaxed video, easy to watch. thanks man.
I’ve always thought the exact same thing about Haunter/Gengar!
id love a video of how we can pre grade our cards before sending like you do!
loved the video

Alakazam is also my favourite base set holo! Classic!
On your ebay store , looking for some Japanese 1996 especially charizar
I saw one, but I never get to grab it🥺😢😢
What will PSA accept in the way of centering to award a 10?
Dope collection! I'm a psa 9 collector myself.
Nice. I'm mix collector what ever I can afford my favorite pokemon cards

Psa got way tougher

Do you buy collections? Moving and unfortunately need to sell for funds. Lmk

PSA gatekeeping vintage as usual!

@@pokemon_classicsSo, a standard pack fresh mint vintage cards then?
Ya, I'd say most of these were pretty typical of pack fresh@@Bouncing_Pig
the difference is, these without a doubt almost all get 10s 5-6+ years ago.@@pokemon_classics
