Now we've got 2 little guys and we want them to learn all the outdoorsy stuff we missed out on. I was sitting and lamenting that I didn't have a dad to teach me this stuff, and feeling really lost. Then I thought of your channel, and here I am - and I'm so grateful to you. I'm getting a bit emotional to be honest. I just want to thank you. Your knowledge and your approach to start from the beginning is something I've not been able to find anywhere else, and this will be something I pass down to my kids and their kids. Oh yeeeesssss! I have been waiting for this video for so long! One of the biggest joys in my early childhood was fishing with my grandfather. We’d catch bass on camping trips and even cook what we caught sometimes. I really want to do this with my kids someday, but my husband is not interested in fishing at all. However, he loves and respects you to pieces, so maybe seeing this will motivate him to give it a chance with me someday! :D

I fished without a dad through my childhood. This one time if I knew then I needed a bigger hook would a have nabbed at 7 a huge fish for me, 10 inch pickerel. Unfortunately my hook was too small to keep said fish and he wiggled off. As an adult bought a pink Breast Cancer Awareness pole on purpose. Decided anyone who makes fun of my pink pole gets the reason why I have this style and the invite to school me. Pun intended. Sure enough one of my best guy friends found out. We went fishing. He listened to the story. Took me to the store for supplies. And, helped me understand a few tips I didn’t know. But, didn’t teach me some of your knowledge, Dad. This vid is super informative. I’m very grateful for learning new things now from someone I value as a father figure. Your soothing voice and kind demeanor with shared values of faith make me thankful you’re open to being supportive to the community who’s need is great. ❤️
Thank you. As a single mom, we have an annual fishing father’s day with my children. We weren’t successful with this. Happy Father’s Day to all of us fathers, single mothers, siblings, and grandparents who look after our cherished ones!
I was also a single mom, and when our district had fishing events, many of the men stepped up to help out with the other's sons and daughters. Everyone could come home with a new adventure for their portfolio. It was a lifesaver for sure. And many times I was able to do something in return.....Your clan will be successful too!

Hey Dad! Great Dad joke! 🤣😂👏👍 Great information. I’ve jigged for cod out in PEI on my cousins fishing boat…he filleted it & we had it grilled on the BBQ with butter in foil packets. Delicious! He is a lobster fisherman. We have had fresh lobster 🦞 cooked in sea water on his boat. So yummy! 😋👍😊 I have fished in a boat in a lake, but I have never caught anything. This is super cool! I just took a drive through some backroads the other day and say a bunch of kids like 8 and 10 year olds rushing along the country road with their rods to the lakes. I missed out on that as a kid!

in our area...there are free fishing days so you don't have to have a license, and in our state park there is also additional times where the children can fish and learn from a park ranger. Check out what your area provides.

So because I'm ridiculous 🙄 I drive the boat and bring snacks and root for the seals 🤣. Thank you for explaining the reason behind the license needed. People don't realize that everything costs money . This was great!! Ty.

Beginner tip: you also use split shot sinkers that are reusable and they are usually around a dollar :) most walmarts have them readily available
