In his State of the Union address, President Biden addressed Israel’s assault on Gaza, where the humanitarian crisis continues to worsen amid a relentless bombing campaign and siege. We’re joined by two guests: Eman Abdelhadi, a Chicago-based Palestinian Egyptian American professor, artist and activist, who on Thursday delivered an alternate State of the Union address called “The State of Genocide,” and Neta Heiman Mina, a member of the Israeli chapter of Women Wage Peace, whose 84-year-old mother, Ditza Heiman, was one of the hostages released during the temporary ceasefire and hostage exchange between Israel and Hamas in November. Abdelhadi says that by arming Israel while offering limited aid to the starving population of Gaza, the Biden administration is “effectively holding a gun to Palestinians’ heads, shooting at them with one hand and throwing crumbs at them with the other.” Meanwhile, Mina calls on the Israeli government “to do everything we can” to return the remaining hostages, including an immediate ceasefire and the release of Palestinian prisoners. “This genocide has been going on for 152 days, and it is 100% an American project,” Abdelhadi says, adding that campaigners plan to hold Biden electorally accountable for his continued support for Israel. “We are going to make sure that the DNC knows where we stand on this issue.”

"Palestinian Prisoners" is a misnomer; they are "Palestinian hostages," and many of them are children. Israel's use of selective language to dehumanize the Palestinians is getting exposed.
That Israeli woman made a Freudian slip, first by calling them "Palestinian hostages" and then quickly corrected herself calling them "Palestinian Prisoners".

I think the reason why the Israelis are stuck on October 7th and feel like everything started then is because their lives have been perfect and were living in a heavenly bubble until then, while their next door neighbors (Palestinians) were enduring a literal hell for more than 70 years!
There was a lovely young lady from a kibbutz talking after the events of October 7, 2023. She wanted to write thank you letters to people who had helped the people from the kibbutz after the attack. While the prevention of taking hostages agreement give the occupied people an exclusive right to take the occupier soldiers as hostages to exchange them with their people kidnapped by occupier forces, furthermore that agreement states that the occupier must negotiate in only peaceful ways to get its hostages back.

Hamas released a lot of hostages during the brief ceasefire which showed that that they were willing to do so. Since then Israel has put genocide ahead of the lives and release of the hostages. This shows a lack of concern for the fate of the hostages on the part of the Israeli government. Netanyahu is more worried about his legal and political problems than he is about the fate of the hostages which is why he is dragging this out.
