In Living Color | Fire Marshall Bill (Home Safety)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- Fire Marshal Bill Burns - Jim Carrey portrayed a crazed, masochistic (and supposedly immortal) fire marshal with a manic grin and laugh along with a scarred face whose safety advisories usually include demonstrating (on himself) the very disaster he's warning against. (Every sketch illustrates a timeline of readily-visible damage on Bill from previous episodes). Usually, the warnings are against ridiculous situations that would never come to pass, such as an alien crab-people invasion, a sex doll that was accidentally inflated with hydrogen instead of air which then exploded due to static electricity, or an outbreak of psychotic elves. Every sketch ends with Fire Marshal Bill blowing up the facility he's teaching at, to which the people involved look at the burning facility and either lament what will become of them or simply stare in shock while Fire Marshal Bill says a witty comment and (sometimes) leaves to do more "safety advisories". Despite each sketch showing him lose parts of his body (in one sketch, only his head remained), Bill never dies. In about half the sketches, he gave his full name as Fire Marshal Bill Burns. In one episode when on a cruise, he had a blonde wife named Ashley (a play on the term ash) who also was seemingly immune to the damage Bill caused. Her face was similarly scarred like Bill's was and she was a party to his demonstrations (spreading gasoline in a life raft to prove Bill's point about the danger of flare guns). His catchphrases included "Lemme show ya something!!", "Don't worry folks, I'm a Fire Marshal!" and "It can be very, very DTUHHH-DTUHHH ... DEADLY!"
In Living Color was an American sketch comedy television series that originally ran on the Fox Network from April 15, 1990, to May 19, 1994. Brothers Keenen and Damon Wayans created, wrote and starred in the program.

Jim Carrey's physical performance as Fire Marshall Bill was nothing short of phenomenal. It's arguably one of the best skits from In Living Color.
Why hasn't this comment got more likes?
@@jedjestat1630 Maybe because he's a lunatic SJW now who hates capitalism after having benefited from it. I could be wrong.
@@jedjestat1630
Maybe because the character was too silly
Ant that the truth I laught so ard the first time and the ending still gets to me
1:06 to 1:26 is funny along with 2:17
Fire Marshall Bill was a dam lunatic, but I have to give him credit for pointing out actual fire hazards before he screwed up what he was attempting to prevent.
He really pointed out how they could potentially burn down their house by accident and carelessness
Exactly
I took this era in human history for granted.
I think a few of us did
🙋🏽♀️😔
So did i
We all did
true words
Jim Carrey is such a good actor notice his lazy eye changes when he gets electrocuted. Funny as heck 🤣
lmfao goddamn
Yes 😂
I lost it when he said "that's nothing I've caught fire so many times I can't feel it anymore " 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
How the hell is Jim Carrey doing that with his neck?
Robert Wright that’s what I Thought
he's hyperlax, you can see it on a sketch when he plays Vera de milo
I can do that
@@afairplayerasoldieroffortu8897 eXcersi💲o?
@@asanoposting9797 👍(Pretending that I already know the definition of hyperlax, I say) "Yes, you hit the nail right on the head with your assertion of hyperlax-icity sir! By sheer coincidence, that's exactly what I myself was just about to post! But alas, you beat me to the punch by mere seconds(or 3 months)!"
👉 (Now, quickly exits UA-cam and searches Wikipedia for a 'potentially accurate' definition of "hyperlax")
I always thought that he should have made a movie with this character. I think that this was his funniest best character over the years!
And the female gymnast. To great skits
They considered it but Jim Carrey said that it would have been impossible because his face would have fallen off. I get it, I get cramps just from looking at him!
They would have ruined it. Some skits are best in short doses.
@@mellowyello1478 good burger comes to mind.
Jim spoke about it on a Marc Maron podcast and said they had considered it but he eventually used a lot of the mannerisms to create Ace Ventura.
Jim Carey, and the Wayans family are comedy legends.
Meh.
Comedy legends? You're kidding.
So true
I got to see Marlon Wayans
Carrey
1:33 "That's Nothing!" "I've got fired so many times I can't even feel it anymore."
So many talented people from this show! I miss the 90s!
It’s easy when you can make fun of anyone. True comedy genius requires a more creative approach.
Fire marshal Bill was one of the best things he created! I'd love to see him doing it in a movie. They never let him be himself.
Technically, Fire Marshall Bill has been in a movie. In the movie “Liar Liar” at the airport when the police and firefighters arrive at night, you can see in the background Fire Marshall Bill on a walkie talkie wearing sunglasses. Jim Carrey decided to have this little cameo in the movie.
2:45 “POOF went up like a powder keg” had me cryinggg
This dude is a genius, he must come back on tv shows, he must!!!!
dam those were the days
You can tell this is probably one of the earlier versions of fire marshall bill. As the years progressed he got way more chaotic. I love both variations of him of course. either way, he is my favorite skit character in all skit comedy shows.
Any time my kid asks me to explain something to them, I always give em the ol' "let me show you sumthon!"
In Living Color was my jam in the 90s! To me, this is Saturday Night Live for African American people! Highly, HIGHLY hilarious, especially with Fire Marshall Bill seen here, and Homey D. Clown. Loved the shit out of it a LOT!
Homin don’t play that shit.
“LEMME SHOW YOU SOMETHING!” Lol classic Jim Carrey
Kids today don't know the fire hazards we used to live with.
Always in fear of a fire, thank you for your service Fire Marshal Bill 🔥🧯👨🚒
You know, looking back on it fire marshal bill had an unbelievably high tolerance for pain.
I just realized, Fire Marshal Bill looks like he got caught in a fire, and lived. And considering all these skits, I bet it was one of those "This is fine" moments too.
This was when Jim Carrey peaked.
You must know nothing about Jim Carrey then.
This show was in the early 90s & Jim Carrey really didn’t find true Stardom until the mid 90s with SNL, Batman . And everything else he was in DURING the 90s after this show was canceled in 94’ then he went to peak with dumber and dumber , ace Ventura and the Truman show soo yeah.
Nah, that was Cable Guy
Carrey tried out for SNL in 1980, but he wasn't chosen. In Living Color made him famous. He didn't host SNL until 1996. He was already a famous star when he played the Riddler in Batman Forever.
Wayne Minana true.
Just saying at the peak of his career was not living color, it would in my Opinion be when he starred in dumb and dumber and Ace Ventura.
@@keithcarey4623 I think el jefe was referring to his artistic peak
Did Fire Marshall Bill just say the first time he spontaneously combusted😂 fucking gorgeous
One of the funniest characters ever - and here is the reason why ...
LEMME SHOW YOU SOMETHN’!!!
This was a nice blast from the past. Thanks for the upload!
what best about this funny scene is not the comedy but the fact that Jim is making that face with control of his facial muscles alone......
Back memories when i was just 12 and couldn't stop laughing for hours..thanks to this show my child hood was nice..
Jim Carrey 😂😂😂 funniest actor ever
That is not fire burning in the house, that is a storm inside.
*Jim Carrey practical demonstration to the highest level.
Haven't seen this since i was 11. I'm 38 now. Still funny as ever
Me too. Good time's when TV was worth watching.
Way back when I had late charges on my Predator 2 video rental
@@RoyceLovesHisShotgun lmao, that's llooong ago
I love the subtle makeup done on Jim Carrey to show the burns from the fire.
2:59 That sound he makes. 🤣
Wish I could go back to these times
"Hey look a gaggle of geese WHERE? WHERE?" Lmao!!
Imagine if Bill got his own movie!
Jim carry man he’s amazing man if anyone says he not they got issues he’s one of my favorite actors of all time
This show was FANTASTIC! The characters, skits...everything! Wierd how thay all went on to Super Stardom.....but were Never as good as in THIS show!
The greatest success to come out of a majority black variety sketch comedy where the main purpose was to be a majority black comedy sketch comedy...
...was the token white guy.
I wouldn't call him a token, he was talented and they knew it
I really enjoyed the Fire Marshall Bill skit. But the one that might top it or at least be equal, was the grandpa Jack McGee character from the dysfunctional home show skit
John Roscoe - Lol a lot of great careers came outta this show
@@knifedreamer You can only mean Jennifer Lopez
John Roscoe - What? Keenen, Damon, Shawn & Marlon Wayans all came outta this show. So did Jamie Foxx, Chris Rock, David Alan Grier, Tommy Davidson & Paul Mooney.... this show was stacked with talent. What are you talking about only J-Lo 😂
This brings back memories, the family sitting in front of the t.v eating our red barons laughing our ass off. I miss the early '90s
Jim Carey's best role.
So glad I grew up with these shows. 😂
This Fire Marshall bill sketch was the first time I realized Jim Carrey could play Joker.
Lately I thought he had kinda lost his mind but the more I think about it he’s kinda right..
Y’all can have the Jim Carrey movies but I will take him on In Living Color anytime. I wished he would have done a Fire Marshal Bill movie.
Omg, I miss these skits! Absolutely Gold! Best of Jim Carey ever!
The glory days of television
The panicked screams when being shocked lol
HE KEEPS A STIFF UPPER LIP THATS FOR SURE!!! DONT KNOW HOW HE CAN GET ALL HIS CRAZY EXPRESSIONS!!! OMG WHAT A TRIP!!! LOL!!! ♡♡♡
You got a fork in your hand and not only are you well done. But you forgot about the octopus too😂😂
The funniest thing about the ridiculous scenarios required for the fires in his hypotheticals is that as far as his unlucky ass is concerned, these are reasonable lmao
Lemme tell y'all somethin! We need more actors like Jim Carrey. I miss good comedy!!!
"Lemmeshowyasomethin'!" Bruh, I used to say that so much when I was a kid in my best Fire Marshall Bill voice.
I just realized Jim Carrey would’ve been the perfect cat in the hat.
What a lot of people don't know Jim Carrey was an unknown who had a hard time breaking through prior to the Wayans. In Living Color launched Carrey's career.
This could never work today but that's why it's so great
The way they all screamed “hey”
Jim carrey is a gift to mankind
‘They just keep building them higher’. A line from the 70s movie ‘The Towering inferno’. Nice one Jim!
Fire is you're friend. The trick is not to panic. Words to live by.
When I read my toddler “The Cat in the Hat”, when the cat arrives I do the voice like Fire Marshall Bill
I would love the day Jim brings him to the Big Scene 😁 let Me show ya something.
Are you joking I've been hit by lightning 19 times
That explains a lot.
Haaaa
Passed the previous record of 7, set by that Sullivan guy.
These were the glory days for Jim Carrey.
Those were the best days of our lives
God I miss these shows. Pure humor.
LET ME SHOW YOU SOMETHIN
Fire Marshal Bill Burns never dies. Let us cook !
Jim Carrey actually LOOKS like that now! Lol
Omg I can't believe how much he looks like Biden
Bro his head long af 🤣 and he ain’t got no lips …..everything he does is immediately funny after that ….Jim Carrey you snapped on this one
Not sure how I got here but thankyou, I really needed that laugh🖤
Mad TV and Living Color was the results of writers and actors that made slapstick comedy fun
All That was the also results of writers and actors that even more slapstick comedy fun like MADtv and In Living Color.
Jim Carrey is a Legend of comedy. He is so above all others...
my young years watching television and waiting for new parts of living colors. super humor.Los Angeles 1993-94
What’s scary is we could grow old like fire pants.
Omg, HE lights the house on fire 🤣🤣🤣
Can't believe this was over 30 years ago.
I miss 80s and 90s TV 😔
David Allen Grier, the Dad, was Don "No Soul" Simmons in the movie Amazon Women On The Moon (1987).
Jim is just like those cartoon figures
Expressions and poses 😍🤣 priceless
it was a magical time for Television back then everything was funny on FOX or interesting like X files
Fox is a dumpster fire now.
I use " let me tell ya somethin" all the time... and its sad how many people dont get it.
Definitely far and away the most talented and successful part of that show. Gee I wonder why.
I forgot how much of a delightfully twisted freak Fire Marshall Bill was. 😂
There's been at least one, infamous forensic fire investigator, who turned out to be an arson... There's no punch line... But it puts me in mind of Fire Marshall Bill....
i was a newly wed in 1990 & my bride & I would always look forward to our tv dinners on Sunday evening in the den watching "j-low" & the fly girls & In Living Color!
That’s is some nice good oll acting you rearly see now
...Live long enough to see yourself become the fire marshal....villlllainyyyyyyyy
BEST CHARACTER EVER BY JIM CAREY
I I find it hilarious that the first part of the skit has a voice over from a Megadeth song “The Scorpion”
2:07 the practical effects were hilarious.
It's only a four-minute video and my posture is all jacked now. The aspect ratio make's Carrey's rubber qualities even rubberier in this one.
These days we don't talk about ILC nearly as much as we should.
The greatest sketch comedian 👌
Who's still here in 2023? Still enjoying these!
LOL the gas stove. My dog jumped at my stove and turned the gas on before. I was upstairs and started to smell gas strong. It was in the winter time and I was afraid that if I opened the doors to air out the house the furnace or something would turn on. I turn the thermostat down as low as it would go and opened the doors. luckily my water heater didn't ignite it and I was home to catch it. I am sure if I wasn't home my dogs would be dead and my house blown up. After that i started to keep a child gate at my kitchen door to keep the dogs out of my kitchen.
im a korean woman and sometimes cant remember basic requirements of my job
Awesome
can't believe I've never seen this before.
absolutely brilliant
He’s like if don knots was possessed
Fire Marshal Bill and Homey D. Clown were my favorites.
my favorite actor for life. Jim Carey
I’ve been stuck by lighting 17 times
-That’s horrible
-Not really, I’m starting to enjoy it.
Had me rotfl
Jim Carrey's introduction to the general public. Forgot how funny these skits were.
Jim Carry is hilarious!!!!!!! XD
