Too bad Clouds stuff breaks even using other brands tail caps. Modlite in deployment use is what we strive for in target acquisition and PID. Color clarity is true to life. We tried the HRT and that would be a fairly close second but terrible at burning through oncoming blinding headlights that all these car manufacturers are starting to use and with a competing oncoming light source, our unit notice it still pushes blinding light through a car windshield and make a threat assessment. Ultimately we have all ditched our surefire and used our allocated funds to equip our unit with modlite. Cloud defensive is a no go as well as sure fire. Modlite and if we were able to purchase HRT we might have but I think the general consensus in our unit is Modlite. In talking with other battle buddies and friends that are LEO and UPS drivers, they all agree Modlite especially my friends that deliver late at night in rural areas where finding a home address that is not visible. Okw head is super nice but the plhv2 with the unity tailcap is a great all rounder. Cap off a rail mounted light with the lightweight low profile reptilla body and this thing rocks along with the cost saving of going with a reptilla body, okw or plhv2 (with programmable head option) and the unity gascap and that’s a winning tactical setup.
Really love the work you all put into things you don't make products for even! You are super informative and I appreciate all the hard work and information I get from all of your videos! We continue to grow our support for different combinations of pistols and lights, so we can support more people running less common setups. Blessings!
Can you explain why previous OKW lights meter significantly less than what you report in this video for the OKW? In your handheld video you report 68,520 candela for the OKW but report significantly higher here. In my testing at 2 meters I reported similar numbers as you did in your handheld video. I understand a slight difference due to chip but sn approximate 16.75% increase in this video…? Is you’re equipment slightly off?
I think the rein 3.0 is an awesome light however I think they dropped the ball with only being able to run the proprietary pressure switch. They should have made the tailcap compatible with surefire. I can't run any dual switches with any ir lasers. And I have that big cloud pressure pad on my rail taking up to much space. Awesome light output but dropped the ball on that one. Could have taken over the market
@theflypilot the cloud pressure pads aren't very good in my opinion. I wanted to be able to use other companys switches. Now I have the cloud legacy body with the surefire ds00 tail cap with axon dual switch to my light and to my ngal. I just hate when a company makes a product and limits you to there product only. The best way to take the market over Is to make an awesome product and make it compatible with stuff the people already have.
For my current usage the HRT AWLS is litteraly the *perfect* platform. I have both the full size and compact. I don't run any kind of night vision setup and was never a fan of actuation through pressure switch. It's 1 piece design keeps it nice and light weight while being extremely tough and out of the way. If you don't like the tail cap you can literally unscrew it and use a traditional button which makes the light body even smaller. No light on the market even compares to size and power.
Turbo is brighter and clearer at distance but rein is brighter cq. Maybe charge it to 100% with 1650b instead of two c123a before testing it. Definitely snuck rein sponsorship in this video 😂
There was not nearly enough footage in here of the lights actually being used in a typical situation you might use them in. There was barely anything for us to compare and look at in any meaningful way. Results speak loudest. Numbers on a page recorded from the results of tests with arbitrary methodologies that have don't have true environmental validity. We need to know what it's like to actually USE the light, and how it's going to perform in a wide variety of situations with different lighting, different types of foregrounds, different types of backgrounds, how they perform against photonic barriers, etc.
i have multiple streamlight hlx. If i had the budget for my dream builds, I'd happily go with new Reins from CD. I've heard so many great things about that company.
I wish you wouldn't pay so much attention to these lumen full runtime charts. They are not indicative of real world use. When are you ever going to leave your weapon light running for an hour straight? Most people won't even let it run more than a couple minutes straight
Okay, so, what if I turn one of these off after it starts throttling, and I let it cool off for a couple minutes, before turning it back on. Will it still be able to just jump right back up to near the instant max it had at the start? Or is this related to the actual level of the battery itself and less about heat
I knew I should've waited for your review on the rein 3.0. Kind of disappointed it didnt perform at the advertised candela rating. Especially from a reputable company. The hrt is a good contender. The torture test will solidify my decision between the two. Thank you! Also, I don't quite understand what the chart is saying at the 6:34 mark.

Love the tests you do! All of the lights are basically the same, I have run a OKW for a couple years and I recently bought the SureFire Turbo which I'm happy with because it's SureFire, simple as that
The new Olight Javelot Tac would be my choice. I took the Cloud Defensive OWL off of my 300BLK SBR home defense rifle and replaced it with the Javelot Tac. The OWL just sits on a shelf now.
I’ve got the javelot tac and micro rein 2.0 on two different rifles. You can tell the cloud is higher quality but beam pattern and output is basically a wash. Cloud is a warmer tint that I like. Cloud has a smaller pressure switch which I like, but the momentary button is very hard to press and can flicker if you don’t press it hard enough. Threw an arisaka mount on the javelot tac since the stock mount wouldn’t allow the pressure switch mounted next to the light. Love the magnetic charging ability of olight but hate that you have to use the proprietary 18500 battery that can’t be charged outside the light. For half the price, can’t go wrong with olight for casual use.
I am also interested to see what Shan's results are with the Javelot Tac. My garage gear shows it to be pretty on-spec: almost exactly 1000 lumens and 80000 candela. Olight doesn't specify the beam intensity in candela, but the 600 meter throw translates to 90000 candela. Even though that's an 11% difference in candela, the beam distance is only off by 6%.
Shame the HRT is a direct M-LOK mount only from what I have seen. The SureFire and ModLite hole spacing works great with my Unity Tactical Hub and LightWing, and I'm not sure but it looks like the CD REIN 3.0 might be compatible, too.
Since we filmed, Cloud went ahead and announced that they're going to support Surefire tailcaps with their legacy body. W. More information here: ua-cam.com/video/H5LTUCJRiio/v-deo.html&pp=ygUPY2xvdWQgZGVmZW5zaXZl

The new Olight Javelot Tac would be my choice. I took the Cloud Defensive OWL off of my 300BLK SBR home defense rifle and replaced it with the Javelot Tac. The OWL just sits on a shelf now.
You're the second person to mention a light we have in our budget light testing... stay tuned for our data on your choice!
@@WerkzHolsters excellent. I look forward to seeing how they stack up. I loved them so much that I now have three.
Even though that's an 11% difference in candela, the beam distance is only off by 6%.
how much did. clout pay you to say this
Yeah they paid him. Ignore the data and work CD put into their light lol that he's taken the time to measure and show us.
Shame the HRT is a direct M-LOK mount only from what I have seen. The SureFire and ModLite hole spacing works great with my Unity Tactical Hub and LightWing, and I'm not sure but it looks like the CD REIN 3.0 might be compatible, too.
You can use the torch head from the awls on both modlight & surefire light bodies.
Yall are a cool company
Thanks much!
