The reason Giyuu Tomioka doesn't have friends or make friends is because he feels like every person he loves and friends dies. He most likely wouldn't feel like this if the people in his village didn't call him crazy because he said he saw a demon. His parents died so his sister was his last member of his family so with her dead when he was young and losing his best friend, he felt like it was a curse. Ps. I know people can guess this but in case some couldn't!
