The first time I heard this I broke down and cried so hard. The beauty of it all. The violin, guitar, bass, horns, lyrics. This song is like a beatiful dream. I can't stop playing it!

fr thought i was going crazy when i first heard the Vanguard's version, i was like hold on, why do I know this song and its lyrics, I thought he bought back a song from one of his older LPs, went back through all the albums and couldnt find it, though to myself could of sworn it was "released" around the time if not long after Voodoo dropped, went through some compilations and even through some of The Roots and other The Ummah crews obscure stuff, still no luck, turns out it was on some really old mixtape/cd I made almost 10 years before, for a second I thought I had experienced dejavu or some form of Mandela effect.
Anyways, Long story short - 10 years, 20 years, 30 years it dont matter - D'S SHIT IS TIMELESS.
This is the best neo soul track that I've heard in a while.
No such thing as Neo Soul,,its only Soul and everybody cant make this music...Thats why its called Soul...you cant regenerate this sound...its a culture secret...No offense intended just correcting you when you label something wrong...
Calm down with your offense to people calling things "neo soul". You just really like the music. Soul is not the end all, omnipotent, master of all genres to the majority.
It's just a subtle descriptor. I'd rather someone said "neo soul" to me, so I know they aren't about to show me an old artist I've probably heard.

The lyrics for the demo are actually different slightly, i know beefcake this song it's from 2008 and I'd seen a lyric sheet back then abd remember specifically the lyrics that weren't on the black messiah version lyric sheet.
It starts off something like "may i come in, I got a thousand with me, but it's consequently, doo wha, I'm in really love with you" and the first bridge is different
This track is over a decade old,people didnt take to it so it got lost in the sauce and it was reintroduced and I see many of you really like it ...its a track you sit back and blow some greens and ride the wave of the track..D angelo Style..be smooth.

The quality is perfection. Some of the production and engineering techniques are simply aesthetically styled to sound a certain way. Add to that D'Angelo's pure falsetto is hard to hear sometimes. Just google lyrics and listen to the brilliant music more closely in layers.
This was a rough draft of the song that was floating around for years,the lyrics weren't fully developed yet. Of course now that the full completed version is out you can now know what this funk genius is saying!
