Oh my Goodness! I saw one of these last night on the Antique Roadshow. I didn't even know they existed! I've played the guitar since I was 14 (i'm old now) and I played the harp for a brief time. I wish I could afford to get one of these! They look awesome!
my father owned one of these and a style o guitar as well ,,, this makes me happy to see , i was showing my wife guitars that my father owned and my brother ruined like his d -45 martin , he , my brother put his knee through the top of that one ,, make me laugh , and when dad bought his new sj -200 he gave me and my brother the look and said DO NOT TOUCH THIS ONE !
Beautiful. Just beautiful. The mandolin is a very under-appreciated instrument. Can you believe my music teacher didn't even know what a mandolin is?!?! And it's really more versatile that most people think; my mom's ex boyfriend played, and he could do some serious jammin' on it! Oh yeah, the harp guitar's nice as well, I guess... lol jk It's freakin' awesome!
Tim May I used to own a Gibson Style U Harp Guitar from Bernunzio, but it was tuned also in HG music as Guitar in C so basses sounded automatically, see Barbara Salisbury 143 vids @ UA-cam Chris Young
I can totally vouch for that I own a Les Paul and it's a pretty heavy guitar I'm convinced that a big part of why the Les Paul is so heavy is due to the shape of the guitars bodywork
I'm having trouble imagining other application for this instrument other than simply plucking out the root bass note like he's doing. Not that that's bad or anything. He just said that other do it differently.
God Blessings from heaven above. ...mercy grace help...
Enjoyed the music and educational info too.
That harp guitar sounds beautiful, especially in conjunction with the mandolin accompaniments in that melody

The Harp Guitar was the heaviest guitar Gibson ever built...and the second heaviest was the "Les Paul Professional" which weighed 13 pounds!
Pickinbuddy how heavy is the Gibson Harp Guitar? I was hoping they were lighter than a Double Neck SG
+MoonBeam Jim Around 9.5 - 10.5 pounds or 4.3 - 4.7 kilograms.
I can totally vouch for that

Great collection. Awesome Gibson Harp. Is it a "U" or an "R" style. Great job. Love to hear more from the Harp guitar.
in what guitar centers did you see this? lol sounds like an awesome guitar center : P
It appears to my untrained eyes that the top arm of the Gibson is used for the bass notes only - is this correct?
Yes, that's correct.
Damn right! Hahahahaha!
