Look, I'll give you my honest perspective as a rather skilled producer and former professional mix engineer: it's pretty okay, this is really not that bad. However, it feels like you are spending more time making use of the things machines are good at -- holding easily editable copies of our music in a digital form that makes composing feel so much more alive than pen and paper will allow most people to 'experience their music while composing'.. but you're forgetting the part where you write music... --- so, yeh you have some decent-ish synth patches and some nice sounding drum samples, even if these drumbeats are super grating over time especially in the high frequencies, and also because the percussion here is mixed horribly, no offense. That's the the worst part of the whole song. Drums get way too loud when they aren't supposed to, they have frequencies that cut through obnoxiously loud, ruining any 'tone' or 'atmosphere' this song could have had, and on top of that they are kinda boring too for how loud they are and how dry they are in the mix.... but really though we both know that what I'm really talking about here is just that loud, annoying,, repetitive high-hat sound and pattern that goes through like the the whole damn song bro hahah, like give your listeners ears a breakkkkk for more than just 15 seconds Needs more melodies, and variations, and harmonies that actually interact with the rest of the song instead of putting a super big ADSR on a synth pad and running it through some random plugins so it sounds wavy, fadey, and a lil crushed or distorted while it mindlessly loops in the background and not interacting with anything else. And playing the same notes over and over and just shifting them up and down the scale every other time is not a musical progression, even if you're changing ONE note here or there on some occasions, there's just nothing going on. Every thing feels disjointed from all the other things. They don't sound like they are all from one song. They sound like 4 distinct musical loops placed next to one another. Their existing does nothing to influence how the other elements will act or react. It's fine. It's a confused that doesn't develop to anything beyond the first few bars of its initial premise. If you wanna make this soft, minimal, 'vibey' type of dance music, its fine to repeat stuff a bunch, of course it's fine to repeat things, even repeating quite a large amount of things in a song is fine, but you have to make it feel dynamic and that it has many many different lengths of time in play at once, i.e. that your song has many varied elements which do have some kind of relationship between each other, such that those elements can be clearly heard to be written in the context of what surrounds it, what precedes and follows it? What is in the same freq range or has the same timbre,? What's in the opposite space from you? Are things moving in parallel? are they moving orthogonally? are things moving steadily forward? Adamantly forward? Shakily moving forward? Is it integrated and full and working on several dozen loops, like one giant, perfectly built clock, everything working in its own way to move the clock forward at the appropriate pace Edit: btw if u dont' give a fk about this type of comment and you don't care because you don't care if you're popular on UA-cam or not,, then that's fine haha, I"m sure that there will be other people along in the future who will want to see what I'm saying or they'll want to say something nasty to me because they think that UA-cam is supposed to be all about c*ckworshipping creators as much as possible, never giving them any remotely negative feedback, and they'll tell me how criticizing someone like this is "just like so super evil and pretentious and egotistical and jealous like ohmygod I'm havin a mental meltdown because this guy is so jealous of the UA-camr" Edit edit: also, I forgot to mention that I feel this way about most of your songs, but your newer songs are better than your first songs, so, keep doing that then and getting better. because your first songs, were like barely even songs, mostly just hitting random buttons and keys it sounded like haha
