Chester had a very unique timbre and range for a male and coming from a family of singers, I can say that she has the range to do the older songs justice and I know from her work with Dead Sara she has the talent to breathe some new life into the band.
Her name is Emily Armstrong, she came from the band Dead Sara, her band since 2002. They're not replacing Chester, no one can do that, they added a singer and are moving forward. Emily wasn't brought in to be Chester, Emily was brought in to be Emily. New drummer too, Colin Brittain. Rob had decided to step away. Mike ,Joe, and Phoenix are back. Brad is still part of the band too, but is not playing live, Alex Feder is filling in on guitar in the live shows. They opened the 1 hour live stream concert with this song. Live video is up on their channel. The live for the new song, "Heavy is The Crown" is also up, that was just released. New album is due out out Nov 15, called "From Zero". A Double entendre with the new start and the original band name being Xero. Mike said they thought about changing the band name, but the songs they were working on for the album just sounded like Linkin Park songs to them.
I've been a fan of Dead Sara for years and was always bummed that Emily Armstrong never seemed to get the credit she deserved for her amazing vocal talent. I didn't even realize she stepped into the band until I saw a bunch of comments on one of Dead Sara's videos. She is phenomenal and hits that sweet spot in Chester's range, I'm so excited she gets the chance to shine finally.
IMHO I have not been impressed by any of the Emily covers of the old stuff I've heard so far, but this song belongs on any theoretical LP Greatest Hits album. She's a fantastic choice for the band for new content. From Zero is already their 4th best album, and if there's three more songs on this album at this level, it will be better than MtM as well. This is the LP that original LP fans want. It bodes well that the weakest part of the song was Mike's solo chorus (everyone loves Mike, but he can't carry a chorus on his own. He can rap, he can carry a verse, but he doesn't have the singing chops to sing a chorus on his own).
Mike sounds great too. He def improved as a Singer
She sounds nothing like Chester but she sounds exactly like Linkin Park. Cannot wait to hear the new album. 🔥🔥
this is the best way to describe her. She is perfect for Linkin Park. The guys seem very happy, and that makes me happy.
