Giant river otters are a good idea, they’re feisty enough to live next door to anacondas, jaguars, and caimans (even kill smaller caimans, often at the cost of one of their members especially pups).
I will try to assess all of these animals, although I don't know that much about specific time periods. 1. Wolverine I can hardly see them surviving. I would assume that most dinosaurs would be way too much for them to tackle, and they would face way too much competition. However, they have the option to evolve to fit a more arboreal lifestyle. 2. Giant River Otters I believe that they would be very suited to hunting baby animals, like deinosuchus, some mosasaurs and an array of fish. Their size isn't impressive compared to many creatures, but they could probably get by 3. Bush Dogs Although formidable for their size, they're just way too small for me to imagine them doing any damage to most creatures. They have been recorded taking down large prey like a 250kg tapir, but most other creatures from this time period were much more formidable. 4. Clouded Leopards I could actually see them excelling in some environments. Being ambush hunters, they can take down most small to medium sized prey if taken by surprise. 5. Painted Dogs These guys would definitely fare much better than the bush dogs. They have incredible mobility, and are much larger. And while their build is highly specialised for speed over long distances, their group strategies can allow them to tackle large prey. Although, they would have much more trouble, since their strat of eating prey alive can be somewhat countered by armour. 6. Komodo Dragons I think these would have the best chance of survival. They would be more likely to stick to swamps, where they can take to the waters if they encountered a threat too big to handle, and their venom would allow them to take down relatively large prey if they manage to land a good bite. They can also function very well as scavengers
@GenericDan Thanks for your input. I do appreciate it. And you have pretty much nailed it on all of those but I think the. Reason why I think some of the animals I recommended would do well than the others is because they'd be small enough to stay away from the bigger dinosaurs as well. And also some of them can also climb to also stay away from them as well. And some could run faster than some of them so I think some could have a chance. In fact, it'd be interesting to find out what kind of creatures they would Look Like in the distant Future. If they remained with the dinosaurs. Also, it has been proven that they have found like fossilized remains of a type of Wolverine, like Weasel that literally hunted little dinosaurs.
@@PatrickWatsonPDizzle123 Looking back at it, my wolverine take was actually incredibly flawed. For one, I already mentioned that they can climb trees, but for some reason, I didn't really consider that as a factor to their survival, considering that they would be probably one of the most adept tree climbers for their size at that time. Also, today, they hunt prey as large as female moose, so I could potentially see them hunting juvenile animals like clouded leopards. They would have a different approach, though. They have incredible stamina. They would also fare very well as scavengers, potentially even more so than komodo dragons, because their mobility means that they aren't restricted to swamp environments anymore and can travel vast distances to find food. The biggest drawback, however, is that their intimidation tactics likely wouldn't help much against large carnivorous dinosaurs, considering that their weapons aren't really anything compared to the weapons of most dinosaurs. Although, you never know, as some dinosaurs were likely not that intelligent and could be intimidated, like simosuchus defending itself against majungasaurus in Prehistoric Planet.
