The second gear plate is for sequential shifting gearboxes like they use in the V8 supercars for example. It doesn't limit you to "low or high gear" as you mentioned but instead lets you shift through all gears corresponding to whether you shifted up or down. Otherwise nice review, think I might bite the bullet and get one next time I find one on sale.
Yes discovered that later. It's a shame so many manufacturers are so lame on their 'user manuals' these days. This just consisted of a one page pamphlet with a few pictures and arrows for connection, and that was it! Terrible instructions, but great bit of kit! 🙂
Also, you say that it should have a screw to adjust the tension of the shifter. Well it does have one and you can make it stiffer, just on the side like you mentioned it "could have" as well. It seems like a lazy review if you haven't even checked the manual or the product website before that.

@@petersmith6085 The first part about the sequential shifter plate is also wrong (it's not just a "high/low gear" plate as he said, it has the centering spring to work as a sequential shifter that exists on many rally and race cars). It makes it seem like he doesn't really know the details of the product he's reviewing and that's not a good review. If some people only see this video, they might get the wrong idea about the features. Just some constructive criticism for him to dig deeper for reviews next time.
The 'manual' (a one page pamphlet) doesn't mention the tightening screw in any way. All you get is some images and arrows of how to connect to a console or PC. Seems like a lazy comment if you haven't checked the 'manual' didn't include this information, but thanks for mentioning it anyway as now I know it's there! 🙂
@@sanderaits I know some real cars come with a sequential shifter, and you can still use this shifter that way without using the plate - which was my point - as with the black plate attached you then CANNOT do the Up/Down arcade style gear shifting as I mentioned I want to keep. If you don't care about that then of course use the plate if you want. Product knowledge was nothing to do with it, maybe I didn't explain it clear enough
Up/down shifter is not for just high/low as in 2 gears. It has the return spring for sequential gearboxes that are present on MANY racecars. Even current-gen WRC cars use a separate sequential gear shifter and not paddle shifters anymore, as do many other circuit racing cars.
It's made to simulate cars with "Tiptronic" etc type of shifter. Popular on high end Euro cars ironically enough based on your comment. If it was made for "Americans" there would be no shifting.
