Explained clearly and without bs. Ur great
I have tried everything to get rid of sink smells but the only thing that actually works for me is buying the sink block clearing liquid out there. I believe the smell is gunk that builds up on the sides of the pipe, therefore it needs getting rid of. Bleach etc will only get rid of the smell short term as it isn't strong enough to grab the gunk and take it away when you rinse.
The older videos explain things so well.
Great video by a professional. Thank you for the help!! You saved me money 💰
Well done. Cogent, to the point, well-spoken.
Thank you! I had no idea what a trap was when it comes to plumbing. That makes sense though. Very interesting.
Cool, thanks Dustin, appreciate the help! Perfectly explained!
Well done!!!! Good suggestions, and intelligently presented with your warnings. thanks!
Thanks! Used bleach cuz I didn't have any vinegar & finally got rid of the stinky smell in my guest bathroom!
Super helpful! Explained easy, thank u very much! :)
Thanks for the video. It helped me.
Thank you for your help
This helped so much thank you
I had been having a very definate musty smell in the guest bath. My first thought was my toilet area, but first I must mention I dont use the bathtube as I am a shower guy and use my master bath for that. So I gave my tub a good cleaning and ran water thru that drain for a few minutes. I also added a cup of white vinegar to my toilet tank , cleaned the tank a bit then let it sit for a while before I flushed it. Musty smell disappeared after that and even today. So I dont know which it was but Im leaning toward the tub ,, either way must is gone.
Thank you so much. Your idea helped.....and your video wasn't overly long. Again Thanks.
It was only 3 minutes. Not long at all
Great video and explanation! Will white distilled vinegar work too? Thanks
Great video! I love UA-cam when I need knowledge. A loose toilet is the number 1 cause of sewer gas smell. It is often times not thought of as the cause of the smell. 99% of the time it will not leak water onto your floor when flushed. A loose toilet can allow sewer gas into your bathroom and you do not know the smell is coming from there. Your toilet should not move or rock back and forth much at all. Your floor may be uneven. An 1/8 shim or 2 may be needed to level your toilet before installing a new wax ring. Sometimes it can just be tightened to get a good seal. If not, a new wax toilet ring needs to be installed. I install toilets everyday M-F. It can be difficult and it is easy to do it wrong and have a leak. Not a water leak, but a sewer gas leak. Also you should be able to see water near the top of your tub or shower drain, if not your P trap is leaking and needs fixed. The P trap holds water and does not allow sewer gas to enter your dwelling. Unused sinks, tubs and showers need to have water added periodically if not being used. AAV vents can also fail and allow sewer smell into your dwelling. Even an improperly glued pvc joint can allow sewer gas to escape. If it is just a P trap that needs cleaned. I just pour a little bit of bleach into the P trap and let it sit. If my P trap is full of build up of hair and other things, I use a toilet plunger I bought for JUST sinks, showers and tubs. Add some water and plunge the blockage back and forth until it drains out of the P trap.

Thanks for the help your a cutie pie

Thanks problem solved
Heres a question brand new house. Washer stinks when being used was in basement in old house im guessing closest bathroom is connected cuz sink stinks due to washer? Tub beside washer doesn’t stink which is weird. Brand new sink have issues im guessin. Gonna try bleach
If anyone new sees this, be sure to keep your washer door open, especially if it is a front facing kind. Use bleach to clean the gasket door area, and the holes that water drains which are located in the front by the door, might have to fold down the rubber part. Also, afresh works well to clean out the drum. Hot water cycle or the clean cycle helped the smell coming from our washer.
Hi, I tried all this already, and all products that are in the shops but nothing works. The sink and shower smell from the day one when we got our apartment. We also asked the plumber for help but nothing works. Any other idea that might help, please?
Hey did you fixed this problem
much clearer AMOUNTS would help. i buy vinegar by the gallon so "half a bottle " is a lot.
No

You did not address the buildup of gunk in the overfflow tract, from where MOST odors emanate.
It might be sewer gas
Lol bro I mixed vinegar with caustic soda and added a whole lot of bleach in it and then I flushed all of that down the sink.
Topped it off with a little lime water to give it a nice odour
I'm surprised your still alive! Never mix vinegar and bleach
Definitely not supposed to mix vinegar and bleach! Don’t do that folks.
I removed and cleaned the sink trap and its still smelling. Any idea what could be causing the bad odor?
Jose Mora if your sink has a overflow tube the smell is coming from inside that tube and the only proper way to clean it out is to take the pop up assembly out remove drain tube completely and cut peices of rags and shove them through the tube with a peice of wire to clean all the sludge out. i am a former maintenance man of a retirement facility and now remodel repair contractor. I see there is no videos on you tube on how to permanently solve the problem. I guess i should start filming.
@@johnedwards9373 Thank you!
It could be the shower too..
1/2 cup of bleach to one gallon of water and let sit 10 mins. Straight bleach isn't good for the PVC drain.
When are you supposed to ad hot water yo bleach?
Doesn’t that create a cloud of chemicals that can be harmful if inhaled? Please clear that up.
if it's so important to wear personal protective equipment then why aren't you wearing it especially for demonstration purpose. smh...
He is. Watch the video.
Weak presentation because it did not address the overflow drain at the top rim of the sink which is difficult to access.
cyle jeffrey exactly and there are no vids on how to do that. makes me want to make one. .
