This jet is pretty old. It has the original engine type, the GE aft-fan engines. They're a little faster than those with the retrofits but less efficient. The glare shield on this one needs attention.
that's the elevator trim tab, when the autopilot is disengaged, the pilot uses it so he doesn't have to pull the control stick all the time and still keep a constant sink rate for a correct approach. (Of course it can also be used to keep a level flight or a constant rate of climb).
Such a neat plane to haul cargo with and pilots to get some good twin jet time. I worked at an FBO for a long time and have seen these come and go with completely deteriorated glare shields and delaminating windscreens. Kinda scary
I actually have the DVD that this clip is taken from. It also covers the Lear 24 and B737 operations but by far the most interesting is the Falcon 20. What did amaze me though was the lack of an autopilot. There was no reference to it in the chapter showing the cockpit and no scenes in-flight of both pilots being "hands off". Must be pre-RVSM ops.
Being an old-school Falcon 20 "freight dawg" myself, one customarily hand-flys the climb and descent, and usually only engages the autopilot during cruise. Mostly because it's worn the fuck out, and pitch oscillates like a bitch, except when straight and level. And good luck getting that shit fixed, when as per the Minimum Equipment List, an autopilot isn't required for dispatch. MachOverspeed
I found this video hoping to see a bit of what it must have been like to fly the first aircraft of the FedEx (Federal Express) fleet. Looks like a rocket ship of an aircraft! Amazing landing.
Here is what you do for that first or second date, You see the pilot first, (before you pick up your date) And you throw him $20.00 bucks to act like he knows you. "Big Brownie Points"..You know...For later ;-) "Boow-Shika-Boow-Boow!
that's the sound that is generated when a pilot uses the elevator trim tab. If you want to know what that is, just look at the reply I gave to @calz1272 or google it ;)
I FLEW THAT AIRPLANE!! I WANT TO THANK AMERISTAR FOR ALL THE FUN.!! I MISS THOSE DAYS.

This is how FedEx started!!

Falcons are great planes!
Nice worn look, this plane has had a real life

MachOverspeed
MachOverspeedsPlace awesome. It means you actually know how to fly. Cheers.
I miss working on this beast.
It's a pleasure. Take a flight.
it does but the pilots elected not to use it as they were landing in good conditions at a good speed with plenty of runway left..
What was that 'clacker' like sound towards the end?
Flying in jeans...sometimes I miss 135.
nice video
just ordered...
Flying the Falcon 20 take care the AP.
Thats the trimmer button.

Cherry Air "survivor" 99-01. Loved the Falcon 20......
Smooooth.....I think you give the trailing link too much credit (your comment in the walk around video), - you have skills sir! Nice landing.
wow, what an old one...may be from the 80s .. ..
Great DVD, a little different from the all glass cockpits in newer airplanes.
very nice landing, thanks for sharing

This Falcon doesn't have thrust reverser!?
Must be very slow to land this bird.
Cool! My local airport has a bunch of these in dark blue. they look awesome.
That's the trim-button. When you airplane is well trimed it's easyier to fly.
You see the reverser controls on the throttle quite clearly.
None of the ameristar falcons have have thrust reversers.
looks like the Trimmer
That's the trimmer....
really nice video
trimmer
What a ratty looking airplane.. The dash looks like a 82 ford festa
I checked into it more and found out the $100.00 half hour ride is for you and two of your closest. Not a bad deal if you split it 3 ways :)
