The town being in ruins, including Wanda and Vision's house they bought being gone, is because this is after the 5 years of half the world being absent. This takes place within just a few weeks of the return, so things hadn't even begun to be returned to normal yet.
The town being run down is a testament to the absence of half the population for five years. Then suddenly everyone is back and the ones who were blipped have no clue what the town had to endure for five years. The blipped also don’t have jobs, their possessions are gone, and they have to rely on their neighbors and family to try and pull their lives back together. These people aren’t at all concerned about the upkeep of community space. They’re in a crisis, which Wanda just pushes aside during her Hex session and uses them as “meat puppets” to play a role for her escape from grief. I guess Wanda was a property owner in the town, but she was also blipped out-maybe someone else bought it between 2018 and 2023 when she cast the Hex 🤷🏻♀️ There are no winners here. It’s a very different theme than any other MCU film.
Wanda Vision is an epic achievement for a t.v. series. Out of the 3 Marvel Disney+ t.v. series this ranks #2 with Loki just edging it out. I will always remember the line about grief.
@@uhorne I completely agree. While Loki had a satisfying ending, I just feel like the sense of direction was all over the place throughout the series. WandaVision was just more cohesive as a story
they all have their pros and their flaws, for me by far the worst series is falcon and winter soldier. it was just a marvel fight scenes compilation, with some racism plots thrown in so when someone says they don't like falcon as the new cap people can just call him racist. way too much talking about this stuff and it wasn't original at all. wandavision was so awesome and had so much potential until they ruined it all in episode 8 by making it a weird macigal spelly bullshit and making the finale just a cgi battle between wanda and agatha (who is just so unnecessary in this show this feels insane). loki had a great ending which they finally didn't screw up but i felt like it was very chaotic with jumping from here to there and all things going really fast. for me it's loki and wanda equal, then tfatws (if you remove episodes 8 and 9 from wandavision it is by far the best tho)
Jen: Wanda's power is terrifying for she has no limits. Yes agreed. My aunt's and grandaunt was terrified of her when we were watching Captain America Civil War. Especially on the scene she defeated Vision and throw cars at Iron Man.
While I understand the want for more of the vision fight, I LOVED that they settled their fight via a philosophical discussion in a library. Maybe its just because he's borderline invincible but it translates into a sort of superman effect, where I can only see something indestructible get punched around for so long before I get bored to tears.
@@edoriv475 To clarify if you don't know, if you do, hats off, when Wanda said "No More Mutants" it was stated that she wiped out 98% of the mutants, leaving only 198 in 616, it was then retconned by Doctor Strange, Wanda wiped out 98% of all mutants ACROSS THE MULTIVERSE, She is far beyond the strength people think she is.
It’s not complicated, but it doesn’t have a definitive answer either, which is what makes it interesting. It can also be applied almost exactly to the situation with the two visions, which is why it’s relevant.
If you mean it's a pretty simple to understand thought experiment then sure, agreed. If you mean it has a simple _answer_ though then, well, i'd love to hear it :).
The convo between the two Visions was brilliant. I expected there to be just a glut of Vision-Vision fighting, but I was pleasantly surprised when that happened. Best part of the series next to the tear-inducing stuff.
Now the last 3 ads. Lagos is the incident that happens in Civil War where Wanda tries to throw Exploding Crossbones away from the crowd but accidentally blowing up the building. The paper towel represents the Sokovian Accords and keeping Wanda isolated to try to clean up the mess. The Yo-Magic ad is about Agatha and is foreshadowing/warning Wanda that Agatha will take her magic from her. As represented by the kid using his energy to open the yogurt but cant and wastes away like Agatha does to the person she steals the magic from. The last ad about the Nexus drug for depression. Is just stating that she is a Nexus being. Which means that in a multiverse she is the only version of herself which exists in the multiverse. If you were to travel to other multiverses she wouldn’t exist anywhere else.
In the spectrum of having an all-powerful female character: Where they failed with Captain Marvel, they hit it out of the park with WandaVision. Carol Danvers was sort of just given her powers with no real struggle, whereas Wanda went through huge turmoils before achieving her powers. That's a great character arc.
@@Eidlones exactly. Captain marvel had sooo much potential. Hoping the sequel they’ll do a better job. I didn’t like the over-forced feminism thing they did. I’m a Feminist and a woman, but they overdid it. They played into the stereotype that all strong women are quiet, bold, and emotionless. i personally stayed away from fan theories during the entirety of this show, except where some UA-camrs would put in their thumbnail or clickbait titles, despite those small glimpses I remained almost without any outside speculation than my own and I personally enjoyed the entire show. it helps not paying attention until the finished product is right in front of me.
I have NEVER been excited to see a character in the movies as i am for Wanda now. Let me get this clear. I did NOT care for her character before infinity war. But now she is my top 3.
The Darkhold book was in Agents of Shield when they introduced Ghost Rider. Wanda reading the Darkhold is BAAAD. It's not good at all. Some bad shit is about to go down!
I hope Jen gets to AOS. It's been pointed out by more than a few that there is more girl power and sisterhood in AOS without any pandering than anywhere else in Marvel (can't say the MCU any more - which sucks). Great storytelling too! But 7 seasons would require binge watching. I don't think they could do reactions. But it would just be good for her to see. Plus, who doesn't love Coulson?
@@turbonerdo6838 The Darkhold can change it's appearance depending on who reads it. The appearance of the book being different doesn't actually matter as much.

I always love your reactions, and I think the discussions at the end are always excellent! I also have to say that the editing for My Girlfriend Watches is so good, and I thought that it really complimented WandaVision especially!
I loved the fact that they are using the Darkhold. Especially as someone who watched Agents Of SHIELD. Honestly, Agents Of SHIELD is one of the best Marvel shows that there is
As a fan of the Marvel FX Legion show (amazing show btw, definitely worth watching), I appreciated the slightly low-key final battle between the Visions. Literally every Marvel movie/TV show has a third act fight scene. The ending of Legion is so low-key and it still works thematically and narratively. **Spoiler Alert** That's also why I liked the ending of Loki. Very simple but still effective.
Just a teeny-tiny nitpick: Strange was not yet named Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU. By "Endgame" he is still Master of the New York Sanctum. So technically, Agatha was saying Wanda is more powerful than the Ancient One.
The ship of Theseus is an amazing analogy because it comes with a burden. Theseus on his way back from killing the Minotaur in Crete forgets to change his sails from black to white and leads his father Egeus to kill himself in grief for his supposed son's death. Great use of the theory. The Egean sea is named after that...
Most of this I absolutely loved with 1 particular exception. I find it bizarre that Wanda removed the Hex entirely, when she probably could have shrunk it to be the size of her yard. They would be trapped in the house and unable to exist outside, but her Vision and her kids could have existed there indefinitely without harming the civilians.
I believe Marvel back in the day made this story arc to help people deal with grief and loss which is a testament to how even back in the day Marvel comics helped people with different mental health issues. Loved this season and this show.
Vision conversation was amazing imo, also would have liked more fighting though. The fact that Wanda was able to do all that she did without even knowing how to do it, is crazy. And her being more powerful than Strange is nutty. Her and him are two of my favorite Phase 4 superheroes (Thor being another).
it's Vision vs. Vision; it was always going to come down to a philosophical discussion to resolve their conflict. as a huge fan of Marvel Comics, that was one of my favorite comics-accurate moments. Vision has an almost Taoist mindset, in that he will always try to use reason and logic to resolve a conflict, resorting to violence only as a last resort. because at his power levels, if violence was his preferred method of conflict resolution, he would be no better than Ultron. the best MCU depiction of this is the airport fight in Civil War. Vision could have mopped the floor with every one of Cap's team, with the possible exception of Wanda, yet he held back because he didn't want to actually hurt any of his friends. so ya, i loved the Vision vs Vision ending because it's exactly how two Visions would resolve things. (plus now we get more Paul Bettany as White Vision now, so ya!)
I loved WandaVision. I like it better when popular fan theories are wrong, so I really enjoyed what they did with Quicksilver, and I thought the Ship of Theseus was a really in-character way for the two Visions to settle things. Dude likes to talk! The only sour note for me was Monica--she didn't have enough to do after a ton of buildup, like you said, and also I don't like the way she was all "It's ok you tortured and enslaved a bunch of people, you were sad." Like ok, she feels a connection to Wanda because they've both lost people, but so have a lot of people, and most of them don't go on rampages! I like Wanda as a gray character, I don't need someone to try to justify her actions. Still, even with that, this is my favorite MCU anything, even above my favorites of the movies (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Winter Soldier, and Iron Man III, and yes I know that last one means my opinion is invalid in the eyes of most fans).
I liked the Ship of Theseus scene. I imagine the writers were trying to straddle a line between trying to think about how the visions would actually battle (and decided included a battle of minds was appropriate) but it had to be something that was a complex idea, but also simplified for a broad audience that was both familiar of the thought experiment but also completely new to it too.
I think it's ridiculous how she basically tortured 100s of people and doesn't even apologize. No repercussions. She is clearly the main bad guy here. Similar to mileena in black widow, she is sorry, so it's ok that she enslaves so many widows and is responsible for so many deaths over the years
Its definitely not ok. Mileena was in a bad position. Would you call a soldier a murderer? Maybe. But they live with that regret and shame. Mileena at least helped take down the bbeg who made her. While i do agree that wanda got away with enslaving an entire town, thats really on the executives who wanted to air the show as quickly as possible. the finale was rushed.
These vids are so fun to watch, I kinda use it as a catchup too, like the best bits of each movie/series, refresh my memory on it and get some other thoughts. Love the videos Holden and Jen! (oh and also the editor, damn you are killing it!)
Wow! I'm surprised that the resolution of Vision vs. Vision felt like a low point for the series. It was one of the highest points for the series for me and ties in so much to everything that will follow in the MCU. It is the fundamental thesis statement of the TV series and the next phase of Marvel movies, which will be all about the multiverse (on a literal level) and identity (on a metaphorical level). Especially when you understand how easily the thought experiment applies to every living person. All the atoms in our skin are replaced every month. All the atoms in our body are replaced by the end of a year. We are all the Ship of Theseus. What makes any of us "me" except for our memories and our belief in who we are. Now, what makes you "me" when faced with all the other possible variations of "me" from throughout the multiverse? I think that's going to make the upcoming movies really juicy!
Also, a battle of logic in a library is the only way the fight could have ended. Both Visions are made of vibranium and fueled by Infinity Stones. They are both irresistible forces and both immovable objects. Neither has the ability to win or lose.
Maybe people just don't like it/care about it but nobody ever seems to notice the call back to Infinity War when she gets to vision at SWORD and says "I can't feel you". The Pietro casting was one of the weaker parts of the show. So was the repeated attempts at trying to put Wanda and Monica on equal footing in the "pain" department. I don't normally like to try and compare anything like that ever, but there is a limit to where even I cannot start to question it. You have the person who had their parents blown up/horrifically killed in front of them as a child, trapped in a room with a bomb as a child waiting terrified for days for it to kill them, experimented on and at least slightly (temporarily) radicalised by an extremist evil group, then twin brother killed, forced to have to kill the love of her life, watched him brought back then brutally torn apart in front of her. But Monica totally feels that same pain as she has suffered what every human on the planet will suffer, and the majority at any one time already have, and lost a parent as an adult. Part of me gets what they are getting at, but it is a big miss in how it lands. But the show is so good, and creative, in all other ways that these missteps don't really damage it.
you know what, I just realized why they killed Pietro in Age of Ultron... Marvel keeps pitting good guys against the bad guys with the same powers (here witch vs witch and literally Vision vs Vision) and there is no other speedster of the Quicksilver caliber for him to fight with so they used his death instead... why didn't I think of this years ago?
Speedsters just introduce so many complications writing wise, because of their relative power level being magnitudes above absolutely everyone else. Every time there's an unopposed speedster they are always taken out of the game in the most contrived way.
Nah they killed him off because Josh Whedon likes killing off characters and the X-Men movies were using Quicksilver and not Scarlet Witch so the MCU figureheads decided to run with Scarlet Witch.
Wanda's power usually eminates from her hands. When she creates the town and Vision, it comes from her heart. A logical discussion was a true Vision vs Vision. They used their minds.

I guess Wanda was a property owner in the town, but she was also blipped out-maybe someone else bought it between 2018 and 2023 when she cast the Hex 🤷🏻♀️
There are no winners here. It’s a very different theme than any other MCU film.
Wanda Vision is an epic achievement for a t.v. series. Out of the 3 Marvel Disney+ t.v. series this ranks #2 with Loki just edging it out.
I will always remember the line about grief.
In your opinion. For me this was by far last
Personally i think it's just above Loki. I think it has lot more layers and details than the other 2
@@AscendedXSaiyan In your opinion. For me its easily the best, even with the finale kinda disappointing.
I love the vision conversation. Ending the fight with a battle of wits is the only way a fight between two super computers could really end.
I loved the Ship of Theseus part, it was one of my favorite things about this show. It makes a lot of sense, and is clever and new.
I like Holden's hairline. Neat and tidy, but with an edge.
😂
That edge would be a widow's peak.
7:27 "And I killed Sparky too!"
John Wick: *And I took that personally*
While I understand the want for more of the vision fight, I LOVED that they settled their fight via a philosophical discussion in a library. Maybe its just because he's borderline invincible but it translates into a sort of superman effect, where I can only see something indestructible get punched around for so long before I get bored to tears.
Jen: Wanda taking over an entire town is scary
*House of M has entered the chat*

@@edoriv475 To clarify if you don't know, if you do, hats off, when Wanda said "No More Mutants" it was stated that she wiped out 98% of the mutants, leaving only 198 in 616, it was then retconned by Doctor Strange, Wanda wiped out 98% of all mutants ACROSS THE MULTIVERSE, She is far beyond the strength people think she is.

If you think about it The ship of Theseus isn’t actually that complicated
That's the problem, people don't like to think. Lol

@@thor_odinson900bc Ah well, guess we'll have to keep pondering on it then :).

Carol was a personification of the theme, not a character. That's where they went wrong.
I wanted Brie Larson to be Brie Larson in the film, since she is a perfect example of an energetic, happy feminist (or woman in general) love Brie Larson though. Idk why she gets so much hate
i personally stayed away from fan theories during the entirety of this show, except where some UA-camrs would put in their thumbnail or clickbait titles, despite those small glimpses I remained almost without any outside speculation than my own and I personally enjoyed the entire show. it helps not paying attention until the finished product is right in front of me.
I have NEVER been excited to see a character in the movies as i am for Wanda now. Let me get this clear. I did NOT care for her character before infinity war. But now she is my top 3.
Whoever the editor for this episode is clearly having so much fun
The colour grading and little flourishes are fantastic!
@Waffles Patreon members get early access
Agents of Shield isn’t really a part of the MCU, definitely an alternate reality even though they tried to maintain continuity up front.
Darkhold also showed up in runaways s2. It does look different in the shows, so they're probably in another universe, it's just easier that way.
@@turbonerdo6838 The Darkhold can change it's appearance depending on who reads it. The appearance of the book being different doesn't actually matter as much.
"What is grief, if not love persevering?" and "To grow old in - V." still get me every time.
It took me this long to realise the “nexus” ad is a Loki foreshadowing
She wishes the scene about identity metaphysics had been more elaborate? OK.
Didn't have big punchy boom pow.
She is so frustrating… she only likes edgy stuff and big action moments.
She sounded like a little kid that wanted the punchy punchy fight moment to keep going on instead of realising that the scene perfectly fits Vision's character and how he would resolve conflict especially with himself..
her face when the runes are revealed behind Wanda: -_-
her face when Wanda says goodbye to the kids and then Vision: -_-

I loved the Vision and Vision discourse - very deep!
Everybody loves Jen!
It's been months, and I knew it was coming in this reaction, but I still wasn't emotionally prepared to see any of episode 8 or the end of 9 today.
I always love your reactions, and I think the discussions at the end are always excellent! I also have to say that the editing for My Girlfriend Watches is so good, and I thought that it really complimented WandaVision especially!
You know Wandavision's ending is a lot better than I remember it being.
THE most important WandaVision reaction is finally here 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thats actually still how i thought Wandavision was like essentially a sitcom version of the Twilight Zone/Outer Limits/Black Mirror type of anthology.
All the Disney + shows have not disappointed so far. Looking forward to Falcon & the Winter Soldier next
tbf only loki didn't disappoint me. wandavision was awesome but episodes 8 and 9 disappointed me and falcon and winter soldier was just boring
“What’re y’all gonna do? She almost bodied Thanos, back up” 😂😂😂
I loved the fact that they are using the Darkhold.
**Spoiler Alert**
That's also why I liked the ending of Loki. Very simple but still effective.
This show is a masterclass in just about every way shape or form. As good as it gets
I love how you play with the lighting and match it to whatever is happening on the screen.
Just a teeny-tiny nitpick: Strange was not yet named Sorcerer Supreme in the MCU. By "Endgame" he is still Master of the New York Sanctum. So technically, Agatha was saying Wanda is more powerful than the Ancient One.
Sad Theory : Billy can read minds so that last bedroom scene he knew he wasn’t going to wake up/ exist the next day :,)
This is a wonderful surprise to come to!!! Kids and I are sick, they’re watching Tangled, so I’m gonna relax and watch Wanda with you ❤️
Say what you want about the rest of the episode (I do like it), but the Vision on Vision fight ended perfectly.
Jen: “Homes & Gardens would love her!”

CANT WAIT for Jens reaction to Loki💥🤲🏻
Another great reaction! I'm excited to see what Jen thinks of the next two shows. Thank you both ❤️
The goodbye makes me cry Everytime 😭
I love watching first reactions of this show
Most of this I absolutely loved with 1 particular exception. I find it bizarre that Wanda removed the Hex entirely, when she probably could have shrunk it to be the size of her yard. They would be trapped in the house and unable to exist outside, but her Vision and her kids could have existed there indefinitely without harming the civilians.
26:32 - How I still react when I hear an ice cream truck.
lmao
I believe Marvel back in the day made this story arc to help people deal with grief and loss which is a testament to how even back in the day Marvel comics helped people with different mental health issues. Loved this season and this show.

@@kitfisto5582 that’s probably partly due to the American sitcom influences (particularly the old ones) not being well known in the U.K.
Vision conversation was amazing imo, also would have liked more fighting though. The fact that Wanda was able to do all that she did without even knowing how to do it, is crazy. And her being more powerful than Strange is nutty. Her and him are two of my favorite Phase 4 superheroes (Thor being another).
This might be the only time that someone didn't like the Ship of Theseus resolution
The Outer Limits, Jen nailed it, perfect comparo
Jen: “I think it’s gonna come down to Vision almost verses Wanda”
Me: “Well you’re not wrong”
That commercial called nexus foreshadowing Loki! Omg never realized that
it's Vision vs.
Jen should watch the Marvel celebrating the movie video
I second this
I liked the Ship of Theseus scene.
How do you know there won't be repercussions? Wanda's story will continue...
She literally sacrificed her family for them?
These vids are so fun to watch, I kinda use it as a catchup too, like the best bits of each movie/series, refresh my memory on it and get some other thoughts. Love the videos Holden and Jen! (oh and also the editor, damn you are killing it!)
If Scarlett witch is Jen's favourite character, then I am pretty sure she is going to die in Doctor strange 2. 😀
Or be recast lmfao.
Ironman is her favorite character
“I think the Desperate Housewives are already on crack sweetheart” lmaooo killed me
After watching "Loki", I gotta go back and look at all of the commercials in this series.
I don’t remember seeing y’all rate this one so if you get the chance do it at the beginning of the next series!
Wait, I just noticed the NEXUS commercial! This was the Nexus event that started the multiverse confirmed!
I appreciate the editing effects, made me chuckle. Gold star.
you know what, I just realized why they killed Pietro in Age of Ultron...
Even in the comics, Marvel's other noteworthy speedster (Northstar) can also freaking fly, making him a poor counter to Pietro
Wanda's power usually eminates from her hands. When she creates the town and Vision, it comes from her heart.
A logical discussion was a true Vision vs Vision. They used their minds.
"they really upgraded the whole town. If it wasn't for the whole slavery thing"
ah yes, colonisation in a nutshell.
YES!! Thank you. I didn't think that I was the only one picking up on The Outer Limits vibe.
