The world? Let's be reasonable. The world has over seven billion people on it. Most of them went on about their day after Neil Peart passed away, and couldn't have cared less. I am willing to bet that a lot of the world doesn't even know who he is. However, to his fans out there (who don't even make up 1 percent of the world) I am sure this was a powerful video. Seeing the set there gives me the same feeling as when I stare in amazement at the Parthanon or the Pyramids in Egypt. As a drummer, this particular set of drums inspires respect (and, I shall give it freely). RIP, Professor.

Neil was my Mentor, My Main Inspiration... HE is the REASON I even BECAME a Drummer/Percussionist! I saw RUSH 46 times in my life! The Very FIRST time was opening for KISS in 1975! I WAS until that time a DIE-HARD KISS Fan! THEN the house lights went out... And they started playing "Bastille Days"... and I SAW "THE PROFESSOR" for the FIRST TIME and I was BLOWN AWAY! I turned to my older Brother and asked him, "Kevin... WHO is THIS?" And he smiled and said, "You know that album with the Snow Owl on it... 'Fly By Night'? Well THIS is the Band! THIS is RUSH!" AND I was a DIE HARD THROUGH and TRUE "RUSH FAN" From THAT NIGHT ON!!! KISS WHO??? LOL I Miss him SO MUCH! My Heart Breaks EVERY TIME I see a pic of him {The are ALL over my Home!} Or Hear his speak or see one of his kits or hear a RUSH Song... My Heart just Re-Opens! :( HE WILL NEVER EVER BE FORGOTTEN!!! WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU NEIL! YOU CHANGED OUR LIVES FOREVER FOR THE BETTER! And the WORLD Is a Lesser Place WITHOUT YOU! :(...
Late 70s me and my brother purchased our first ever drum kit. It was an old Slingerland. The first song I learned was God of Thunder by Kiss. Peter Criss was my first drum crush, but the day I ever heard Neil Peart and Rush my life changed forever. I'm now 58 and haven't played drums for many years, but I never lost the love. Neil's influence has effected me in more ways than I can name. Without music, without Rush, without drumming and without Neil Peart I cannot honestly say I'd still be here. How to tell someone you've never met that you love them I suppose can only be summed up by the number of tears you shed due to their passing. Our sorrow is his legacy. We are both, Neil and us, entitled to those tears. And the meek shall inherit the earth...

I'm sure Neil would feel embarrassed to hear this coming from some stranger, mearly a longtime fan and not a long awaited friend, but watching this short video, instantly brings weeping tears that flow like rain. Neil was my idol. I have spent 100's of hours listening to Rush, but mostly listening to Neil. He had such a great talent to add, but not too much. His masterful ability to utilize progressions made it feel like you were riding on a rocket!! No words can explain what Rush and Neil mean to me as a drummer and musician. Thank you Neil for so many great songs, lessons, and memories!!
At the very moment that the door was opened and I saw him in that big picture behind his kit I was driven to tears. It is like he is sitting at the drumset...John words: what a friend......killed me. Love Neil forever
Are those Ludwig Super Classics shadow blue kit you have from 1993? Just wondering. If so I have the same shells I bought in 1991. Huge kit as well. Monster resonant sound. Still my favorite drums that Neil ever played. No offense to Tama, DW, or Slingerland.
@@LudwigSC93 how cool! My sizes are 6,8,10,12,13,16,18,22. My 6 inch and 8 inch toms are deep shell. Wish it was your size. I may see about having them altered in future if I can find the right guy to do it. Could even use them as a single headed toms. Do you have the RIMS mounts on yours?

I dont have many people in my life worth emulating, so I thank God for Neal Peart. Being a great drummer led to being great in everything he did. Though i didnt know him personally, I miss him dearly. RIP Neal. Thank you for the greatness you left behind.
The first time I heard this Drummer I was 15 years old. The song was the opening to 2112. I'm 57 years old now and every time I hear The Professor play my mouth drops in awe. When I saw this video all I could do was cry. How could such talent be gone now???
Wow! That was emotional. I can't imagine being in the presence of his instrument as if he was right there. That beloved kit is in its' rightful home. John loves his craft and created with Neil. It's fitting that it be set up and on display to honour the Professor.
What an emotional display of silence in motion. The voice of the "Trees" rest now in Peace. This, yes His sound in embedded in my soul. I will see him again on the other side of eternity. RIP my Professor
Even after Neil has left this earth, his kit still moves us as much as it did when he was on it. What a powerful, powerful piece of video this is. Thank you for this.
As much as I miss his drumming, I miss his lyrics too. Always poetic and thought provoking and in a way challenging us to look at ourselves, others, issues, and the world in a different light. Rest in power!!
All that I can say is what movement and motivation Neil Peart gave to me, As a drummer and a wonderful wonderful person who exhibited such understanding and expression about all of us, as humans
Most of the people in the civilised world profess to be into music in one way or another, yet hardly any of them know who Neil Peart was and even fewer will understand the loss he is to music. RIP The Professor. You are missed by all of us that 'know' and also by those that don't.
As a fan since 1976's 2112, I was truly honored to have met Neil not once, but twice in 1988 during the Hold Your Fire Tour and as a young fan I was so honored to meet him. He was just a normal, humble and amazing giant. At the time, I was a room service waiter at the hotel where he, Lee and Alex were staying. I certainly was so lucky to have met him the day of the concert (which I also attended) and the morning after. We traded a couple of sentences and I was on my way. The day I heard that he had passed was one of the saddest of my life (and I'm in my late 50's). My heart (like so many others) was/is broken. RIP Professor...
Neil was such a wise guy, he was right about those word we hear at the end of the video and god damn that’s true, music is about expressing and is a good way to talk to people when you’re not able to do it with words. For me, drumming is the only thing in life that helps me talk and express what i feel. I will always miss him and some day i will play drums in a big set like his.

It was greasy and smarmy. 26 years later I make covers on UA-cam. Yeah, fans would be irritating. That's cool you guys were buds. Sorry for your loss brother. Neil made being Canadian cool. I love being a Canuck.
Here’s to the professor. The one and only. Godspeed good sir!
I didn't expect this to be so emotional, but I won't lie......I'm choked watching this.
Simply beautiful.... RIP, Neil. You are sorely missed.
Never have I cried looking at a set of drums. Till now. You are missed dearly Neil.
Like the temple of syrinx only the priest left the great drum kit to fill the hallowed halls. It's been a year since that faithful day. Kudos to YT in providing me with these videos. It helps heal the loss of a great human being and great musician. I'm so fortunate to experience his artistic life from the beginning.
"The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect..." Well, how can we measure the magnitude of that much love, that much respect. RIP Neil. You are missed.
So well said
Thank You John for your Patronage and Honor towards one of the greatest Canadians that walk amongst us all .
One who gave his whole life for the listening pleasure towards others in one of the most influential bands that has ever came into the light music .
God be with you Neil , your Visions and Lyrics are here to stay as a legacy of what greatness can truly be . R.I.P.
3 Gentleman that gave so much to so many , never to be forgotten ,a true gift for all of us to be blessed during this time in history .
RIP Neil. Lost my sister two days after EVH passed last year. They always say it comes in 3's. I didn't know Neil or Eddie but my sister listened to moving pictures and VH1 constantly in the early 80s. Always good to have older siblings with good taste. And fuck 2020
Wow...RIP Professor Neil Peart. Yes What a Loss, and What a friend.... very moving video.
That was sad. Thanks for the sticks you gave me in 1981.
no comment ...
except thanks Neil & thank you John and all of the DW family ...
for caring for this friend of ours for so long ,
giving him what he needed to be happy playing drums for us- his fans...
Emotional video. I love Neil”s voice. So calming. RIP Mr 🥁 Drummer.
Truly all inspiring being in the presence of that drum set..... It speaks volumes without even being played.
This is a beautiful tribute. Love the photo on the wall behind the kit, it looks like he is there. RIP NP
Silently looking at this kit, uncontrollable emotions. Thank you for sharing. RIP NP.
I gotta stop slicing onions when watching this.
I think Neal would have liked this post the best. Well done... The boys in Rush had/have a sense of humor and we can’t lose ours!
I was thinking the same thing Clay. Very powerful to me.. Been a really big fan since I was 16 years old, now I am 58 and a bigger fan.
I think I’ve got some of those same onions.
me too
Please do. they are bothering my eyes as well.
Two years today.....what a legend
I feel like I just attended a viewing for a lifelong friend. RIP, Neil. Thank you for making our world a better place.
This pain is real.and I can still feel it.thanks for the drum lessons. R.i.p Neal Peart.
What a wonderful tribute.....beautiful....
The noise that once came from that kit was incredible.
Now, we're left with deafening silence.
RIP Professor. I hope we all get to meet you someday.
Miss you and love what you brought to us Neil. :( How blessed are we that were able to be here to experience your talent.
@@carlgibbons5777 Yes they are. Love them :) I even got the 5.5 x6 amd 5.5 x8 as Neil had his cut. Which I had bought the 14 floor tom though lol.
@@carlgibbons5777 I have 6,8,10,12,13,16 and 22 All I could afford at the time and finding others have been very hard but I waited years to search for a 14 floor tom which I still haven't found (let alone an 18 or gong bass type). Not sure if they didn't make many of this series or people just hold on to them but I rarely see them for sale over the years. I don't use RIMS. I have the modular tom holders. I wish I got the "omni sphere or L arm" type because I like the look better and they are lighter but I liked the fact that the modular had the extra cymbal boom arm holder hole.
great tribute to a great man. RIP NEP. Always in our hearts
I dont have many people in my life worth emulating, so I thank God for Neal Peart. Being a great drummer led to being great in everything he did. Though i didnt know him personally, I miss him dearly. RIP Neal. Thank you for the greatness you left behind.
Ditto on all of that. He was my greatest mentor and teacher - I honestly miss him everyday.
The Holy Grail of Drum Kits! We'll all remember him in our hearts and his voice can still be heard in our playing.
"What a loss"
"what a friend"
What a LEGEND. Rush forever.........RIP Neil.
Even after Neil has left this earth, his kit still moves us as much as it did when he was on it. What a powerful, powerful piece of video this is. Thank you for this.
Thank you for the decades of creativity, craft, power, and exhibition of skill.
Thank you for posting. This brought on both a smile and tears. It feels like a sacred shrine to a great man who touched many lives.
As much as I miss his drumming, I miss his lyrics too. Always poetic and thought provoking and in a way challenging us to look at ourselves, others, issues, and the world in a different light. Rest in power!!
All that I can say is what movement and motivation Neil Peart gave to me,
As a drummer and a wonderful wonderful person who exhibited such understanding and expression about all of us, as humans
Wow!! This is too deep to express in words. Your are truly missed NEP!! We are grateful for the memories left behind.
Stylistically, you'd never put Russ Kunkel and Neil Peart together. But the respect Russ seems to have for Neil is undeniable. A most moving video.
Russ Kunkel is a straight-up beast. Check out his discography. He was to Session Musicians, what Neil was to Rush, in a manner of speaking!
@@JerseyToTheBone Well said.
Most of the people in the civilised world profess to be into music in one way or another, yet hardly any of them know who Neil Peart was and even fewer will understand the loss he is to music. RIP The Professor. You are missed by all of us that 'know' and also by those that don't.
If those drums could talk, what stories they could tell! Miss you forever Neil!
Yes, interesting
You go for it, Edy 🙏🏻❤️
Coolest shrine I've ever seen ! Pop in a Rush CD and you will feel better....Guaranteed !!!!!!
