Below is the route we took. If you are coming into the area from the south, this route will work great. If you are coming from the north, you probably want to start at the other end!

The part that stood out the most to me, was seeing the horses and buggies. So peaceful.
Canadian Girl yes my husband went there for work and had never seen it before. He said it was so cool !
My thoughts were how annoying driving would be having to slow down and pass them constantly but it is interesting
Except that sometimes those poor horses are extremely abused and worked half to death in both heat and cold. I live in PA. Amish country and am shocked and appalled at the animal neglect and borderline abuse of carriage horses. I have seen emaciated horses on the road that are so over-worked and underfed that they can't make it up a hill. Not to mention the careless auto drivers who hit these carriages on the road and maim and kill these horses once in awhile. The life of many carriage horses is a sad life of enslavement, exhaustion, and soul crushing drudgery. Many never get proper Vet care and are dumped on the horse meat auctions that truck them to Mexico for slaughter. Many of these "quaint" people have ZERO compassion for their animals. The are simply a means to an end -- or a means to garner extreme profits from breeding. PA. & Ohio Amish country also house some of the worst nightmare puppy mills in the country. The breeder dogs spend their entire lives in wire cages -- or dark barn stalls -- and never see a blade of grass or ray of sunshine. The girls are bred repeatedly until their health collapses then they're dumped at the dog rescue groups. These dogs are backward, maladjusted, fearful of humans and extremely difficult to place in homes.
@@Mary-Mercedes There is a huge difference between city life and country farm life, something that farm people have always understood. Sure there are situation that are bad, but the Amish people as a whole are not responsible for the ignorance of a few. And I'm sure that there are many different people living in Amish country, even those type that would run a puppy mill, but I doubt it would be run by the Amish. It is terrible that there are people in the whole that would treat dogs in such an inhuman way. We see it happening in China too.
@@canadiangirl5159 I have great admiration of the Amish and their values. I did not disparage any Amish in general. I know many Amish families personally. I said MANY not all. My point for my original post is that there can be a very dark side behind those “peaceful” horse-drawn carriages. I have experienced it - as have hundreds of rescue organization volunteers who pick up the abused and neglected dogs or horses AT the Amish farms when they want to dump them by 10 or 15 at at time. When you see an exhausted. skinny horse - with ribs sticking out and head hanging low- tied to a parked AMISH buggy in a parking lot in the sun in hot summertime (as I have) those buggies do not look so “peaceful.” Yes, there are backyard hillbilly puppy mills out in the “back 30” in every state abusing animals for profit, but MUCH (not ALL) of the abuse is disproportionately done in my surrounding states by Amish farmers. They are infamous with all the animal rescue organizations who have to deal with the carnage every day.

I LOVE thrifting! This was super fun and sooo relaxing! Soo much beauty in the architect and the beautiful scenery of the land. I love those pieces you got and the clothing is all adorable too.
I was born and raised in St Mary's Ohio, went to college and lived in Columbus many years. In the late 80's my husband, baby daughter and I stayed at a Miller's Countryside Camper's Paradise for a weekend in winter. Our cabin was so warm and cozy, the view amazing and the baked goods were wonderful. It's such a beautiful part of the state. I would love to do it again! Thank you for your videos.

I used to live in Delaware, Ohio, and have visited Berlin, and Holmes County many times. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. I miss Ohio very much.

I live near your area and love the harvest thrift store. Going thrifting in Amish country is always so much fun because you truly never know what you’ll find. You can always count on finding timeless pieces and quality items. Thrift stores in Amish country are so much better than in bigger cities.

I am from Ohio and no longer live there. I watch your videos when I miss home. I miss the trees etc. So fun to see familiar places and things. Been to Millersburg a couple of times and ate at the Der Dutchman once. Your videos bring back good memories, thanks.

This brings back memories...My husband and I were going to Holmes County, Ohio, Amish Country. Before we left he had planned for us to stay in Millersburg. We stayed at a hotel on the strip there. The parking lot wasn't behind the hotel. It was a little walk to it. It was for the hotel guest. I remember us going thru the shops. My husband passed in 2017. He was great about taking me on trips that would interest me. He would also schedule day trips....Thank you for your posting...Brought back some great memories...Right now my eyes and heart are crying, but I take what I can get that links me to him.

The prices lately on these thrift store all over are very pricey. $75 or even $25 is just to much. I am so happy that are people like yourself that can take even something we have at home and instead of trashing it can transform it. Thank you 🙏 for what you have shown people to do. It’s better then always buying something you can do yourself.

I LOVED that piece at Share & Save after the piece you looked at for a while. The white distressed piece with glass at the top that looked like Windows? Oh my!! I LOVED that!!! The thrift shops there are way better than in my location. Here, you see TONS of clothing but very little of other items. Thanks so much for sharing!

The best bargain was getting to spend the day with your sister! My sister died in 2004 and I miss her so much. Your thrift stores are so nice! We live about 1 1/2 hours from Amish country in Indiana (Nappannee and Shipshewanna ). The Amish and Mennonite farms are so beautiful.
