I haven't been to a fast-food restaurant in over five years, and regret nothing.

We sold our city home last July, moved to a property on a rural road, ( now debt free)absolutely love it. We were working hard today on getting garden beds established I'm up to my elbows in sweat and dirt ,stepped on the rake and about knocked myself out. My husband looks at me and says you've gone patara on me. I consider that a compliment.!!

Sam’s Club snack bar…we had our 35th Anniversary lunch there on Monday, each had a pizza combo, giant slice and a soda. A grand $5.30😉😂🤣We splurged and each had a sundae as well, our total bill was still under $10.

Everything is unaffordable now. Went to Publix and the lady working the deli said she bought Pizza Hut b/c she was tired after work, got two medium pizzas and the total was over $50. She said she felt sick b/c that was almost a half days wage. Sad. It broke my heart. I refuse to buy a coffee or burger out. It’s just not worth it. Pray, prepare, be peaceful - and try not to have a coronary on a daily basis. We’re living in the twilight zone folks!

I had a visitor in the garden, laying on top of a bag of mulch was a black rat snake. He was skinny and about 3 feet long, obviously needing a meal. I told him he needed to go into the woods and leave my furbabies alone. The mulch is going to be used this weekend. He needs to relocate and sun-bath in the dirt road. He keeps the poisonous snakes away, which is why he is still alive. Have to watch out for some of God's creatures. ❤❤
Today, I bought day old donuts from Walmart. The sticker said $1.18 for 2 chocolate donuts. I was charged $16.73 for those 2 donuts. I took it to customer service and she couldn't refund my card or give me cash. Now I have a gift card for that amount and will have to pay my credit card. Check your receipts.
Walmart near me isn't keeping their prices up to date.

We haven't eaten fast food in 10+ years. We travel with a cooler. It's cheaper, tastes better and you feel better.
And you don't have to worry about food poisoning or Montezuma's revenge!
We do too. And I’ll usually pick up a few extra treats I wouldn’t normally grab. Only way my kids know to travel 😜

We usually take drinks with us instead of buying cokes at fastfood places. We do eat out about twice a month as a treat. Our treat tomorrow is a Cowboy breakfast fundraiser for the local library.

I am a truck driver. I stock my refrigerator before I head out but still end up at fast food restaurants in truck stops. They are ridiculously high. I’m gonna start writing down the prices in different locations around the country.
Truck drivers should get a discount !!!

When I was a kid I was born and raised in Southern pennsylvania but all of our family was in central new york so our vacations were spent in new york, It was a 4 hour trip From our house to my grandparents house , we didn't stop for take Out, Mom always had a bag packed with lunches in it and drinks. So we ate on the road, if we stopped some place It was to go to the bathroom. This was back in the 70s and 80s.
Hubby was out the other day, stopped at burger King for a snack, small fries and small shske😢$9.00...this is at the jersey shore.

Mama of 6 kids here. When we need to eat away from home, we typically take our lunch. Also, I will take my insta-pot on overnight trips and make meals on the road!
My mother in law plugs her crockpot into the cigarette lighter when she drives to our place. It's freaking awesome, she shows up with presents for the grandkids and a hot meal ready to go!!!
I went to a restaurant I had not been to in over 2 years, and the price doubled. I will not be going there anytime soon.
I have a ton of cherry tomato volunteers. I purposely bought heirloom seeds last year in hopes of this very thing. I’m so happy it’s all working out the way I imagined.
I love it when I have surprise volunteer garden plants!! Last year I didn't plant cucumbers, but a volunteer cucumber plant grew up in my compost bin from previous year's stuff, and we had several cucumbers all summer from that plant.
I dehydrate cherry tomatoes in oven on low temperature and toss them in a freezer bag. They are great as a topper on pizza, spaghetti sauce or just snacking on.
My son is a trucker, hes being choked by prices to eat while on the road, hes learning what NOT to buy but sadly he gets a lot of hotdogs cuz its cheaper...theres been a fast food boom hit everywhere, he knows what states he can eat what in, and its not easy...every day he gives me an update of his day, so i hear a lot, and i know where he is every day and where hes headed for cuz this time of year gotta storm watch for him...BTW I turn 70 and my son is 51, Hes no slouch nir does ge NEED his momma but his mom worries less to get that info, lol

Has he tried a portable fridge stocked with sandwiches, veggie sticks, and fruit. It takes some effort, but it works.
If he can get one of those little refrigerators to put in his truck he can take food with him. Then maybe he could manage something a little better for 1 meal
Haven’t had fast food in forever. I make sandwiches, cut fruit, bring chips (if I can) and we eat on the road, both to and on the way home. Thank you Grams for teaching us how to live well but frugal.
My husband and I have always done this. When we would travel for a while with the children, take out was never an option.
My husband and I are eating one nice size meal a day and a desert in the evening, and it is simple...We have lost weight but we are making sure we are getting our vitamin and minerals. We are exercising and trying to stay as healthy as possible. We are just holding on to the Lord and believing him!!
I live on an extremely limited budget. I got to 2 food banks every month. I couldn't eat much if I didn't hit the food banks. I make jams jellies and baked goods and sell them weekly. Thank you for all the information you continue to provide.

I live in Taipei, Taiwan. I can buy a Whopper + cheese, curly fries, and a reg. soft drink for $5.50 (USD). Our labor costs are much lower, BUT many of the ingredients have to be imported (esp. the beef), and transported for 7,000 miles. The high shipping costs plus hefty import duties is a LOT. That probably zeroes out the lower labor costs. So ... that begs the question as to why our prices aren't much different than they were 5 years ago (about 20% higher). Answer: the Taiwan government doesn't print money at will. That's exactly what drives most of that inflation. If a fastfood place tried to charge those prices here, they would be out of business in a couple of months. We have scores of small family restaurants all around the city that cook standard Chinese fare (like grandma's home cooking) fresh from scratch every day. I can order a huge nutrious meal with 5 or 6 different dishes for $6.00 (USD). I keep a close eye on everything going on in the US. It's all just shocking. It's very sad watching the US in freefall at this point. (btw I'm a native Texan, but permanent resident of Taiwan for 35 years).

Our circle K sells any size fountain drink for .79. Best deal around. Still try not to buy it very often.

My husband and I have to travel an hour and a half to 2 hours for our medical care. That being said, we pack us something to eat and drink while we are out. We like to do all of our other errand stuff at that time also, so it is usually a long day out for us. We save eating out for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversary. We put a little back each month for those special times so we have funds available. Sending much love ❤️

I'm 65 years old. My Dad worked as a police officer in Asheville, NC and had side jobs. My Mom was a homemaker, and there was 4 of us kids. We never ate out. Our outings was riding the Parkway and stopping for a picnic. Mom would cook the night before after regular supper. Picnic's were fried chicken, potato salad. Our treat was a cooler of soda's packed in ice. Always sweet tea, a cake, bread to make sandwiches on our way home from the day long outing. My older brother and sister say they remember Dad bringing home a pizza from Pizza Hut....that happened once. I must of been a baby cause I sure don't remember that.

I recall several years ago when I wanted cheese added to a sausage and egg bagel that McDonalds charged an extra 25 cents, but if you bought something that automatically comes with cheese and requested that they leave it off, they didn't deduct anything. Pretty tacky.🤨

When we traveled to Colorado to see daughter, etc. we always packed a cooler and made our lunches and had drinks. Would stop at a beautiful scenery and eat lunch. Always had a wonderful time. For breakfast we would stay somewhere that had a coffeepot and we would eat a granola bar for breakfast. Dinner was always out but we kept a lid on it.
I never get fast food anymore but the other day I was running errands and stopped to get 2 bean burritos at TB and it was almost $6!!! I could not believe it! I remember when they were 69 cents. Never doing that again! 🤦🏼♀️

I livebin the UK and a few days ago the UK government issued a warning for people to have at least 3 days of food and water etc, batteries lights and everything else. Serious times we are in. I go to a fantastic church in London and our senior pastor gave a warning 2 months ago. He has spoken about it last week and today as well of a massive storm coming just around the corner. We need to be prepared spiritually as well as food etc. Those that are not prepared spiritual will not make it through the storm that is comeing

It's tourist season and they're all here in TX. We used to be out of the way but they've found us, ugh. Every house here but a handful is a vrbo because property taxes have skyrocketed so it is either sale out or rent out.
I remember in the late 60's, you could buy a hamburger for $0.18 and I remember when they went to $0.25. I owned a small motorcycle and I kept a quarter taped under my seat to buy gasoline in case of emergency. How things have changed.

I haven't eaten at a restaurant or fast food in years. I also haven't been to a theater to watch a movie in years. Too expensive. Just eat at home.
Thank you Patara, my husband and I don’t eat out much. When the food I prepare at home is 10 times better than anything we can buy out there, well it’s just not worth it.
So this week for my 5 items, I bought 3 - 5 pound bags of potatoes for $1.99 each and I’ve pealed, chopped, blanched and am freezing them, I’ll put some in the freeze dryer this fall, it’s too hot to run that now. I made 3 1 gallon bags of potatoes. I am also putting up green and wax beans from my garden, blanching and freezing. They are in quart bags, and I will add to them as the season progresses.
My friend on FB published this info re 2019 & 2024, it's eye opening the changes in prices. No more fast food, ever. Local grocery today, Bought rotisserie chicken and 3 sides at store, $19 for 2 meals. So happy😊

Nacho bell grande used to be my go to at Taco Bell. I got one a few weeks ago and not only had the price significantly increased but the size was literally cut in HALF! That was the last time I will ever go there which is good for me in many ways. Lol

Hubby is on chemo so nothing tastes good to him but every now and then he wants an egg McMuffin so we stop for that and it is just under $10 for one with a large orange juice - not sure how much the price has increased because I never bought them before he got sick but the price seems outrageous to me. Never have liked fast food and prefer to make something at home rather than going out - I know what’s in the dish and how it was handled but when you go out you just never know!! So many people having a hard time making ends meet - cannot imagine having a large family (my boys are grown and on their own) to have to feed, clothe and pay for school events and such right now. Blessings to all. Prepare as best you can and hold on - it is going to get rougher before it gets better!

We eat fast food rarely, and it's always BK when we have good coupons. The coupons used to come regularly in the mail. We haven't seen coupons in months now, and nor have the folks who live in other areas but pass the coupons on to us when they come in the mail. They seem to have stopped entirely for now. Without the coupons, we don't bother, not enough value there for the $, even as a treat.

We always found B-R to be expensive. The servings were ridiculously skimpy. Years ago we marked them off our treat list because the serving size didn’t match the price point. Our local ice cream parlor was and is doing a great business. They give generous servings for a modest price. Baskin Robins closed about 15 years ago.

cheeseburger was $0.69 when I was a college kid. A whopper was $0.99. And taco tuesday was 3x tacos for $1.00. I'm only in my 50s, so 30 years ago.
My husband and myself have not ate out at fast food or restaurants period since 2019… honestly we don’t miss it at all.. we went one time and bought a coffee and about died when it was 7.00 per coffee.. yep that won’t happen again!

San DIego - $8 for quart heavy whipping cream, $25 for a large (about 50 oz) bottle of Bertolli olive oil. We have tons of olive oil and butter in the freezer that was purchased for far less. Those items keep!
The prices you mentioned sounds like it's from California. They passed a $20/minimum wage law. I also heard several McDonald's are closing or have closed in California.
It’s not just California, I’m in Georgia and the McDouble is as on menu in 2019 for a dollar, it’s now on the value menu for 3.00. The prices may be higher there but rate of price hike the same

I am in a little town in Arizona called Golden Valley we are in the 80 degree weather , yet we are in the northwest of Arizona.
Oh my gosh. I've never posted here, but watch all the time. But this subject really hollered in my ear 👂🏼We have used drive-threws for years. Mostly, for a taco and iced tea. A quick snack. Now it's crazy. Who can afford such craziness? Now we carry our iced tea and taco chips with us. Geeze. This hits a southern CAL girl right where it hurts.🌮🏖️

Central Illinois here. U can have an Arby's roast beef for less than a hamber at McDonald's. U can have a Captain D's meal for 5.99. There are other places that run sales cheaper than McDonald's. Taco bell, is terrible on their prices .
Washington state fast food is very high. We have those inflated prices.

Ran my aunt through Burger King drive-thru in Harvest, AL a couple of months ago. She ordered a whopper, nothing else. It cost her $7 and some change. Don't remember the exact price. I was shocked.

My friend in So Cal was with her kids yesterday and they wanted a snack. So they hit the grocery store for a bag of healthier grapes. It was $18!! One bag! She says they compromised and got cherries for $10.
True fact. I remember when a twist cone at McDonalds was .39 cents, on sale! Regular .99 cents, And tall, not short and stubby! LOL
We dont go to McDonalds anymore. You have to order on a computer at the drive up, and it messed up our order twice. We left. Went inside on St Patrick's Day. Wife just wanted a Shamrock shake. The boy at the counter said I had to order on a kiosk. I left again. Ridiculous. No service inside or out. High prices too.
