This is one of the few times that St. John Bosco actually acknowledged all of the incredible miracles of protection that God bestowed on his Oratory School for boys. It could be considered a saintly hymn of thanks to God, his canticle of canticles. He lists many hairbreadth escapes from tragic accidents and untimely deaths.
