Not only was he one of the best comedic actors of his time, he was also a great thinker and fierce advocate . Anyway, listening to this, I am actually quite pleased to be living a life which the neighbors might speak about in hushed tones.
This is incredible. It takes courage to create & perform something like this. Courage to defy "what will the neighbours think". I fear it will never feel dated & irrelevant, but I'm sure Chapman would be happy if it did.
i am generally wary of lectures but this was quite refreshing. I wasn't aware of it so thanks for posting it. Chapman wore a pipe well, but I wish he had never smoked it. He might still be here with us.
A true testament to Graham Chapman's insight and intelligence. John Cleese said about Chapman that he (Chapman) reminded him of a perfect "machine" of a person. He just needed "a few ajustments", and he would have been one of the greatest minds and people in modern time. Cleese also praises Chapman as "the best potenital actor [of the Monty Pythons]..." That is true reason that Chapman was chossen, by the group, to play the lead character in both "The Quest for the Holy Grail" and "Life of Brian". I.e. in the roles as "King Arthur" and "Brian" these movies. In 1988 Chapman passed away because of cancer at the age of 48. What a loss. I am sure he had had a lot more to share.
