I see a lot of problems there... 1. working phase backward, 2. down phase no working, 3. you need an extra tractor(+ driver?) and pad to change rows, 4. no cabin on the machine.
    5. it must be a lot of money, 6. the work performed is not impressive.

I don't own one myself but somehow i feel compelled to answer. @1,2,3 They operate on very steep hills. Often even steeper than here, which makes it very dangerous work. Which is why they use a winch that is attached to the trailer. That however makes it impossible to switch rows down below.
@1,2 It depends on the implement they are using. Working up the hill when working on the soil is a lot better, because you're pulling the soil up with you instead of down. That helps minimize erosion.
@4 that is a fair point but a lot of operators like the idea, that they could jump of if somethings fails and the thing goes sideways. Though a cabin would probably protect you a lot better if you failed to do so.
@3 you need an extra tractor anyway to get the thing home. A driver is usually not needed because a lot of operators use a remote control for the tractor.
@6 if you refer to the attachment. It is used up uproot weeds directly under the grapevines as to avoid using glyphosat. It just doesn't look that impressive but 2 month later if you ever had to pull 6' tall weeds out of vines by hand it's a godsend.
@5 that's right. which is why i still use an old narrow tract tractor. but i wish i could afford one because i could use a lot more attachments and on steeper hills and didn't have to pucker up as much each time.
