The liminal space at the last place in Dawntrail.
One of the things that struck me the most about this track when it first started playing was how nostalgic it felt despite having never heard it before. It has the same flavour as the soundtracks of older movies I watched as a kid, but there's this bittersweet undertone that carries through it, like a lullaby for the dead: loving and melancholy. Soken has an incredible gift for conveying emotion through melody alone and this is an amazing rendition of it. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
It was very Twilight Town the moment I heard it.
@@Nimoot I've seen a lot of people say that! I never played Kingdom Hearts personally, so I don't have the comparison to draw from.

Never thought I'd feel nostalgia for Las Vegas. I was just there earlier in the year for the first time. The final zone was a surreal experience recognizing a lot of the direct references and having to say goodbye. I could see myself there again.
You captured this song perfectly. It's so warm. It's so sweet. It encapsulates a feeling of "I love you, but it's time to go". And every time I come back here I end up bawling. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
I was taking my sweet time with Dawntrail and just finished, so now I can chew through all the covers you've been putting out 🥲 Immediately beelined to this one to cry again

When I got to this place for the first time, I sobbed. I felt like all my memories from past expansions and all my childhood memories came flooding back. It made me feel like I came to say goodbye to people I never got the chance to see one last time 😢

If this is Soken's work, then he has truly matched Uematsu, as it has that iconic, instantly memorable feeling, something that will stick with you for a long time after
Soken matched Uematsu years ago, but there was never really a competition as they are both fantastic.
Soken and the FFXIV sound team are goated.
Soken was trained under Uematsu. So this tracks on 1000 levels.
I spent an hour, mesmerized by this track. The way this lullaby dances so aggravatingly around it's own root, trying to find any melodic excuse to continue for just a few more bars-- but that G#'s gotta come eventually. We can't go on forever.

I really appreciate that. I had an Octopath Traveler guitar album planned for early last year, but a lot of life events happened so I shelved it. I hope to finish it next year.
living memory reminds me a lot of what it's like to be at disney really late and watch the park close. like to the point of the closing music on main street USA. i walked in laughing about "hell yeah now i get to shut down the mouse in my final fantasy game" and walked out to the final dungeon having cried twice and teared up another two times.
it also invokes the same feelings as lazy afternoons (KH 358/2) and i can't help but wonder if that was intentional.

This is such a beautiful, wonderful arrangement. Deeply emotional and yet nostalgic, honestly a hauntingly lovely piece. And as you mentioned in the description, the song and the zone it's from really is gut-wrenching, a lot more personally so for me than I expected going into this expansion.

My feels... If there's one thing you can count on FFXIV to do, it's to absolutely wreck you emotionally... Shadowbringers, Endwalker & Dawntrail last zones destroyed me, all 3 of them. As did Elpis in EW too... 😢

Here it is!! Oh gods.. this is just so amazing, as promised. Was worth the wait. You made me cry again. Something about the last zones in the game ALWAYS make me cry. Also, I saw you play Bard, so do I! (Though I do try out all the jobs, but my main is typically bard/dancer or red mage. What do you think of the artifact guitar bow that bards get when they hit 99 for this new expac? xD. I am mixed about it, tbh ^^:
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! The Endwalker last zone was crushing as well. That definitely reminds me of a lyre guitar. I had a friend with a replica in college, and it was hard as hell to play.
I've been waiting for so long for this one! I expected you to arrange this one perfectly, and what I got are tears in the end from the wonderful arrangement and playing 🥲. I can't wait to learn this one on my guitar once life forgives me from real life responsibilities and mount farm wings drop...
