    This is the first Christmas carol I learned: 1959. Franciscan nuns. Beautiful!!!

    Wow Thank you to my Choir teacher of more than 50 years ago nicknamed Tick Tock.( Mr McLaughlin ?) School was rubbish at something's but amazing at Choir. Now off to Google Ploughmans song

    Oh, lovely! I found this in Christmas Carols New and Old (page images at www.ccel.org/ccel/bramley/carols/files/carols.html), wished to sing it, but stumble somewhat at reading music. Thank you very much.

    The late Dr. Erik Routley, much published writer on hymnody, wrote "Sleep, Holy Babe…used to be more popular than it is now or than it deserved to be at any time. Here we finally drop over the edge. What connection can be traced between the true carol and this dreadful composition?" How wrong could he be!
