Really appreciated how they used the legends in this movie from the cameos in scenes of the film and the park cameo scene like Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford from the Jeffersons, Reynaldo Rey from friday as you mentioned John Whitherspoon and Clarence Williams III with people who was up and coming or established in the park scene like YoYo, Homeselle Joy from women from brewster place, Tim Hutchinson from spike's Malcolm X movie and Mark Christopher Lawrence as you mentioned was in Fear Of A Black Hat. In the background and one of the women standing over Tisha before the marriage intervention was Angela Means who was also in Friday as Felicia. Had to look the last one up because she doesnt have face screen time.
It really was a great scene and the cameos were done very well! It also helps that everyone did a great job in the scene so it didn't feel like the cameos were just added just for the sake of the cameo
I forgot all about that episode! You are so right! I think her theatre background lends to her overacting sometimes. Her comedic timing is top tier though
All the stars in this movie are amazing people. They all worked with the legend David Alan Grier in movies like Boomerang and Tales from the hood. Your laughing throughout the movie made me laugh 😂😂😂. R.I.P to both John Witherspoon and Clarence Williams iii.
This was the best part about the late 90s and early 2000's Black films. Because so many actors worked with each other on multiple projects, the chemistry always felt genuine. Years later there are rumors that some were difficult to work with, but you would never know it watching some of these classics
@@SistaGurlonFilms I dunno if that's true in the case of this film at least. I know Isabal Sanford was a diva back in the day but that was on the jeffersons, (where all productions made by norman lear or by any outsider things are problematic look what happened with Diff'rent Strokes cast)when it came to black produced movies everyone was on their best behavior because it was still the time where everyone understood the mission and wanted to make black films succeed because they are rare.
I love your reaction sprung is one of my favorite 90s movies this movie reminds me of booty call since both of those movies came out in 1997 they are all classics!!!
Your reaction to Tisha Campbell is quite interesting because my sis had a similar reaction to her when we watched house party when we were teenagers. I think now as a adult and seeing more of her stuff is that women dont buy the good girl role she sometimes get typecast in. No problem with her in Boomerang or her role in different sitcoms where she playing a character with more personality but i think some directors casting her as a perfect angel in contrast to a sista gurl who is her best friend and shown to be coarse and always dark skinned bothers some people especially when in reality that pairing in real life would be just as good and bad as each other as young women in the late teens to early twenties having fun. Not the blonde(the good girl) vs brunette(the bad girl) troupe thats been imposed onto several black movies by using different shades.
I think the best role Tisha Campbell has been in was Jay in My wife and kids. Her talents were perfectly showcased and the chemistry with her and Damon Wayans was great! They definitely had her typecast as the bougie light skin woman in the 90s. It was not the best fit for her, in my opinion
This is a underrated comedy. I feels like it fits in with Booty call, Woo and B.A.P.S even though it's a better overall movie than those IMO. It's a similar vibe.
I may be in the minority, but I think Rusty Cundieff was fine as hell💀💀. Maybe because I watched Fear of a Black Hat couple weeks ago. I need to watch this movie.
We could probably start a fan club! Once I realized the character he played in School Daze, I remembered thinking he was the finest big brother!! So I am with you here! Rusty is definitely looking right! lol
@SistaGurlonFilms I got some news about Rusty Cundieff. I found out he's just made a new film called 52 Seconds with Morgan Freeman and its coming out on September 29 of this year. So yeah he back on he game, i hope its good.
This is the tragedy of a lot of black directors during this period. Rusty Cundieff showed promise as a director, each of his films in the 90s was different and an improvement from the last but they cut him off at his prime. By the time he was allowed to make a movie again, (the awful but funny in the ending tales from the hood 2)he lost the spark he had when he was writing and directing movies when he was younger. Such a shame and too much of the same story with Matty Rich who only made two and countless others. thanx for the reaction.
I had no business watching this back in my junior high days, but it's one of my favorite comedies!
Same here!!! I saw this in the movie theatre! Now, how I got in...who knows 😂😂😂

This is a real throwback! I rewatched this last year.
I used to watch this movie an unnecessary amount of times when I was younger lol
lol Tisha has a tendency to overact. But she was good on that episode of A Different World and her chemistry with Martin was good.

This was definitely Paula Jai's movie.
Yes!!! Sis commanded every scene (except for the police line up because that was all John Witherspoon lol)
She should have had a bigger career.
This movie was pretty funny & it mirrors Booty Call. Here’s a fun fact: Rusty Cundieff & Tisha Campbell were also in School Daze.
I looove sprung!!!!

Booty Call is so dumb but in a good way! 😂😂They absolutely could not make that film today.
@@SistaGurlonFilms facts because they know in 2024 the new generation might get offended But Jamie Foxx character was so funny in booty call.

@@SistaGurlonFilms Liked that show but i can only rewatch seasons 1-3 i cant watch the last two seasons again.
4:16 i can tell you love this movie. you're oozing good vibes. 😌
The only scene I can think of that was great acting from Tisha Campbell is on a Different World, the HIV/AIDS episode. It was so good! 🔥🔥
My daddy use to be crying laughing look at that part literally he use to rewind the hell out of that part
That jail scene is so underrated!

Yes!!! I don't remember a whole lot about Woo but Booty Call and B.A.P.S for sure!

He was cute to me.

I wouldn't be mad if Rusty made a resurgence. His style of direction and comedic timing would be a breathe of fresh air right now
