Freshman Choir - The Freshman Choir is a mixed group of 127 students. They participate in all concerts scheduled for the high school Choral Department.
Choral Ensemble - The Choral Ensemble is a select mixed group of 32 sophomores, juniors and seniors. They perform at elementary schools within our school district as well as the Fall, Christmas and "Opus" concerts during the school year.
Concert Choir - The Concert Choir is a highly select mixed group of 67 juniors and seniors. They serve as the nucleus for all performances (noted above) as well as singing several engagements throughout the community.
Glee Club - The Glee Club is made up of 39 sophomore and junior girls. They also appear at the regular concerts (noted above).
Mr. Dennis L. Bowen received both his Bachelor and Master of Music Education degrees from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. He served as Choral Director for the Summer High School Institute at Northwestern University for two summers. He is the Director of both the Musical and the Variety Show at St. Joseph High School. He has been with the St. Joseph Public Schools for twenty years.
Mr. Renard L. Baldwin received his BA from Anderson College, Anderson, Indiana and his MA from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. He served as assistant Choral Director at Anderson College for two years. He has worked in the St. Joseph Public School System for 11 years as Choral Director in the junior high school and Director of the Freshman Choir at the Senior High School.
St. Joseph High School, St. Joseph, Michigan is situated on Lake Michigan in the heart of the nation's fruitbelt. There are approximately 1200 students in four grades. It has an extremely active Music Department including 3 bands, 2 jazz ensembles, an orchestra plus the four choirs. Its music facilities are among the best in Southwestern Michigan with three rehearsal halls, 14 practice rooms and a 982 seat auditorium.
Our sincere thanks go to the members of the First Congregational Church of St. Joseph for allowing us the use of their church facilities to make this recording.
