Your video helped me understand why my last heater replacement only lasted a year and a half...I did not secure the lower nuts with the ¼ inch wrench. I am sure my tightening the nuts to hold the heater tabs in place probably damaged the ceramic components. Lesson learned thanks to your video. Thank you for posting. Great job. Easy to follow and understand the full process. I am just glad I don't have to drain the tub!
Thank you Ben!! Very impressive and to the point video of installing a new heater! I had 3 different hot tub guys come out to diagnose the heating issue. Each guy had a different diagnoses. I found a new heater and gaskets online for under 200 delivered! You were the most easy to follow and to the point of installing a new heater!! Thanks again!! :)
THANK YOU! I Watched your video twice...no wifi by the hottub and replaced it myself. Coupla differences, but all essential info was there (I knew to have my breaker off). Thanks again, I couldn't have done it without you!
Your video saved me 450 dollars, thank you very much!! Also there was a large metal spring in my heater and several pieces of plastic, nothing of which I've ever had in the hot tub, very strange!
This was a great video and I was able the replace these myself pretty easily so thank you. One thing to mention, clearly as it so happened to be in my case, these slice valves tend to not hold up well and on my 9 year old hot tub, the slice valves didn't work so I opted to drain the tub rather than try to replace them with water pouring out! Thankfully I got it right with no leaks on the first try lol!
I wish I had noticed the part about crimping the plastic line. When I got back from the spa store with my parts my tub was half well not half empty. And the hose the I use to fill the tub was frozen and unusable. so I had to use a bucket to fill it. I'm not sure how many trips I made but i think it was a million :) anyway all fixed and the panic is now gone. I was -20 C here is Ottawa today Thanks for the great video.
Impressive demonstration. You moved quick and efficiently and appeared a bit frustrated when it didn't go as smooth as you envisioned - hey that just gave the rest of us time to catch up to what you showed us so far. I watched and learned valuable real world tips - thank you. Great Video Presentation!
@@Theundisputedtruth The tub wasn't heating, and I was clueless, so I called a local electrician. They diagnosed for me, BUT... they showed me how they figured it out. Use a multimeter to check for continuity across the heater contacts. If the heater element is broken, there will be no continuity (effectively infinite resistance).
Good work. Thanks for the video. But don’t feel rushed. We don’t need to see how fast you can do it. We just need to see how it’s done. Nice and steady
Hi I know this an old post but im.having flo sensor problems. Changed the entire heating unit out with the exact setup as ur video. I can't seem to find the flo sensor. Are the water temperature sensor sub as a flo also?? Ccx an someone please help. I now have heat. And it starts to heat but gets cut off when the sensor trips.. thanks in advance. I have a 2007 Solaris mark 3
Sir im just asking.i have a acura water heater in my jacuzzi.i installed it.why is heater not working.is this type of heater have directoin the flow of water.my heater is new.
When plugging the sensors back in there is a black and a red wire inside of the gray wire. Is the red wire to the right side or is the red wire to the left side when you plug them in ?
Question for anyone that knows what they are doing with this project. Are there only 2 gaskets, one on each side or are there and that attach the the actual heater where he connected the black connectors? Thank you so much.
Do the little screws located on the split nuts need to be unscrewed? Mine are faced the other direction and i can't get to them. And are the all the heaters threaded that way, left clockwise and right counter clockwise?
The nuts themselves are going to need to be undone. You can do this by just turning them. There is no need to remove the screws from the nuts. All heaters are the same threads.
If you think about it, they're both threaded the standard direction, (righty tighty lefty loosey) but because they face each other (that is they are in opposite directions) the direction of rotation is reversed from the left to the right.
I have replaced a failed m7 balboa element but now I have no voltage on the terminals of the element while in standard mode with the heating indicator illuminated. Everything else is running normally. Any ideas ? The fuses all test ok ? Thanks
You wouldn't be able to because there would be no place to give it power also you would be drawing too much power for the normal breaker. Also there wouldn't be a place to have the sensors plug in.
There's an easy way to increase the speed of heat up. You just combine a water pump with an inexpensive (mine cost $130 on Amazon) propane-powered tankless water heater and pump the water from the tub through the heater and back into the tub. Tankless water heater's great for washing your dog too (that's why we got it originally).
Yes, you can actually buy just the heating element itself, but the process to replace it alone is more complex and introduces more complications that could easily result in breakage that would require replacement of the entire unit anyway. Long story short, just replace the entire unit. The element itself is most of the cost of the unit anyway so you wouldn't be saving much money.
Good video but I would have put a catch pan under one end of the heater assembly, loosened the nut and let the water bleed out instead of letting the water just run out.
Hi Dylan, In most cases i would say that it isn't something with the wiring. Have you taken a volt meter to the terminals of the board to make sure that they are putting out the proper power? Depending on the spa you should have 240 volts or 120 volts there when the heat light is on. If you have power and the heater isn't working then you have a bad connection or defective heater. If you don't have power there then you have a bad circuit board.

Great video. Clamping the feeder hose to the pump saved me from having gallons of water to clean up!
This video is one of the few videos that is very easy to understand. It also shows a very clear video that shows how to do the job. Marvelous.
This video was super helpful!!! Just received a free hot tub that needs a new heater!
Ha, Im getting my free hot tub that needs a heater too! This video was helpful 👍

Mine did also. They were from the plastic screens inside at the bottom of tub. Water intake screen broke.
Ben, Thank you very much for the walk through. You saved me from paying a couple hundred dollars. Again BIG ThankU!!

Thanks for this informative video on how to remove the heater assembly. I used a shop vac to suction the water.
Ben, you did a great job at explaining the step by step process.
I have a feeling you have done this before!!! 😊

Unless you like to love dangerously, TURN OFF the system at the breaker. I didn't see him mention it and not everyone has common sense to do so
Thank you for this video! It gave me the courage to do this job, and it was a fifteen minute piece of cake! Water is heating up right now...
What were the issues that came about to notice this was the culprit

Looks like im going to have to replace our spa heater thank you for showing a diy how GOD BLESS YOU
Thank you so much for this super helpful video!!!
I have the same spa pack and will try to replace this heater myself. Thanks
Really good video thanks a lot.
Excellent video. Thank you
Thanks, followed and succeeded!
Great video. Thank you MSP!
Thank you for the instruction. 👏👏

My spa has Message code 27 - The heater is dry, should I replace the heater? Thanks for the video!
i had that error and the filter on the right was too tight and there was no flow
Thankyou😁🖐️
Can you help me with my hot heater problem if I send pictures?

Well done!👍
Hi I need your help. We have MP LSX800, on the screen error message 27. Heater is dry. What can I do?
I have to replace a Balboa 52531-03 SUV UL Model WHM-SUV-CCAH with a Balboa BP501G1 kit. Do you have a video that explains how to do it?
Mine is leaking from underneath the right split flange, do you have to remove the heater to replace
Question for anyone that knows what they are doing with this project. Are there only 2 gaskets, one on each side or are there and that attach the the actual heater where he connected the black connectors? Thank you so much.
The only gaskets are on the ends where the plumbing connects to the heater.

Element is like 29$ so I would just do the element.
What if you don’t have a slice valve
Thanks helpful video
Yep, SHOULD START OUT, Be sure power is off!
great vid, your number is locked in and I will be in touch for all my spa needs.
How is it grounded?
All heaters either have the straps that go around them and screw back to the pack or the metal bracket that sticks off.
Good video but I would have put a catch pan under one end of the heater assembly, loosened the nut and let the water bleed out instead of letting the water just run out.
What about getting air out of the heater. If there is any air pockets in it it will shut off.
Hi Robert,
We do have a video for that as well on our channel. You definitely want to get all the air out before you fire up the heater.
@@Masterspaparts Can you link it? I don't see it.
@@robertvick258 Sorry Robert i thought that i had in the last comment. Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/ftxPVrW9PP0/v-deo.html
Remember to close off the electrical supply before opening the box
What would cause a hot tub to burn out heater elements. 2 in one year?
Heavy use and /or no water in the line and the heater turned on will burn out a heater in no time.
......bad water chemistry will also kill a heater faster than usual. Watch the pH balance carefully......
The heater costs around $500. The element costs around $50. Why not just change the element?
Hmmm, costs must have changed. I just purchased the entire unit for $150, and the element alone was $90.
Replaced the heater however still not heating up could it be an issue with the wiring?
