If I was just looking to have my dog on a farm with on daily driving it would I be able to take the big bulky “whip” antenna off without making it totally useless? I don’t need to track multiple miles only like 300 yards of dense forest.
The Garmin Alpha 10 handheld would make a great handheld for rabbit dogs. The Alpha 10 handheld using the Garmin Explore app on a smartphone will provide mapping data similar to an Alpha 100, Astro 430, and Alpha 200i handhelds. The Garmin Explore app is free to download as well.
Garmin again keeps moving forward with innovations. As an upland bird dog hunter, I would like to see a video of how easily (quickly?) you can change from dog to dog, and change stimulation (Vibrate/Tone, Momentary, Continuous). Thanks.
I kind of had the same question i know my google maps still works when my phone don’t have signal can i use the Garmin Explore app when I don’t have Service with the alpha 10 paired to my phone
When hunting with hounds, our General Manager left the Garmin Alpha 10 handheld mounted inside the truck paired up with the Garmin Drive Track 71 navigation system. When on foot, he used the Alpha 200i handheld. When jumping back into the truck, you didn't have to worry about connecting the Alpha 200i handheld back up to the Drive Track 71. Also with the Alpha 10 handheld in the truck, you could track the trucks movement if you were on foot and your hunting partners were moving in the truck.

Sounds like a great unit for someone with rabbit dogs, don't need a map, but you can track your dogs when they get out of hearing range.

Thank you for watching! We should have a video discussing these following features in a few days!
Here is that video that we promised on adding collars and changing the training setting. ua-cam.com/video/veLEhVX9zLU/v-deo.html
Do you need a map card or does it work off of a different mapping system
You need internet or phone service to see the dogs location. Does it work in say the Colorado mountains. Where service isn't a thing
The Garmin Alpha 10 does not use internet service or cell data. The device should work anywhere that other Garmin handhelds work.

Seems useless for a guy running big game hounds. Still kinda cool
