    I also grew up in poverty and in a sanctuary city. I made friends with kids from all over the world. Looking back on that now as an adult, I can see that we may have been poor of money, but we were wealthy in diversity and experiencing other cultures and gaining understanding. We didn't see each other as belonging to different groups, we all grew up in the same schools, same neighborhood, and shared the same hardships. That brought a lot of unity.

    Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
    Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
    where there is injury, pardon;
    where there is doubt, faith;
    where there is despair, hope;
    where there is darkness, light;
    and where there is sadness, joy.
    O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
    to be consoled as to console;
    to be understood as to understand;
    to be loved as to love.
    For it is in giving that we receive;
    it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
    and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
    Amen

    This is the most wonderful Dhamma Talk. The world needs to hear this. Thank you for sharing The Buddha's kind and loving wisdom-- but especially for putting it in perspective regarding today's society.

    A lady at my Christian church hates me.....she is jealous, but she has nothing to be jealous of as I am just an ordinary person with no special giftings.
    I allowed her to take my happiness.......but I feel sorry for her. She has a lovely husband
    and family.

    The key to remove the rise of hatred in your heart is to embrace mercy and compassion. See your object through the eyes of mercy and compassion.

      Even then, anti social personality disorder is something that develops in childhood due to factors outside of their control. We can hate that they’re sick in that way but they still deserve compassion imo. Not to say people who have been hurt should be scolded or made to feel bad if they have feelings of hatred

      What sutra is this? What book or passage? It doesn't sound like the regular words the Buddha was common to use to address his disciples, especially since I've never read the Buddha saying "I want" or "I don't want." Maybe it's an inaccurate translation anyway, though surely he may have passed down some instructions to the noble ones before departing as he must have seen this coming.

    Ist there any possibility to deal with the hatred of other people? I habe the Feeling it destroys functions of our mind/psyche, so we lose functions of our mind/psyche, so we lose our possibility to protect ist, from the things those people want to see in us?

      Do you realize that most of the time you are talking to yourself when you are not talking with your mouth ? Yes ?
      When you think about something or decide something or verifying something. You are talking to yourself right ? Our mind and thought is a world within our self.
      Religion is spiritual and not a law or order or command for you to follow and reference to your outer world or outside your physical body, the world you use your eyes and see.
      Religion practice is for your inner world to help you when you are making a decision, your thoughts, your wisdom, love etc etc..
      Many religion failed badly as you can easily find debate between Muslim scholars and Christian scholars. Watch as many as you can and you will one find one answer. No winner. All are loser.
      Why? Because they debate about the verses in the holy book. And reference it to others as what they should do and follower from the God Words.
      This is very stupid right ? God or Buddha words are for us the inner world and not the outer physical world. Else it is not words from God or Buddha but a physical law for the human to follow. Then that is confirm not a God word. It human intervention.
      I believe you will agreed that many things is just a very thin red line to the left or right. What is right, what is wrong, what is karma, what is reality. To me, not important. Not even the God words. First thing we need to analysis is our self. We our self knows what is right and wrong. We must be true to our self first and think the right ways and do it the right way. Then we open up our self to what Buddha teaching us and move our self to a higher level of understanding about Religion.
      If our heart is not straight. Do not point fingers at others or even God or religion or government or even our parents, brothers and sister.
      Everything start from us. Our self.

    Ajahn Brahm has beautifull Answers when it comes down to Peace.
    But i am missing answers on the subject of . JUSTICE,..
    because ?
    if there is NO JUSTICE ?
    there will be NO PEACE !

    • @scienceofseth

      on an individual level,..i agree,...
      but i dont think that one can run a society on this. as a matter of fact, in the Monasterys they have rules, and if you really break aa serious rule, you have to leave the temple.
      so there is a system of regulations, and a person makin them work.
      if you want to change society to the better, you have to accept the fact, that most people are not willing to
      accept the wisdom of the buddha.
      they want " justice ",..and shure its mistaken many times with " revenge ".
      on the other side, if you completly ignore the attidude of the masses towards this topic, the masses will turn to someone, who promises them want they want.
      One can see this very clearly on the Situation especially in Europe.
      the rise of the right wing,....
      i think its irresponsible to just answer those questions, with : its all karma ,...
      this will not bring practical solutions to very difficult situations, who need to be solved in the presence.
      difficult i know,....

      Just look at Mexico for a good example of this, The government has screwed over the people for years so they don't trust them. The Cartels are kidnapping, extorting, murdering , its insane.. They want Justice so bad and "karma" is not going to cut it for them. They deserve Justice . I was down there for a little bit recently and Buddhism has barley taken a foothold but its starting to show up , the people I met were very interested in it. There was one temple in Mexico City and not many others throughout the country. There is no Justice for most of those people, they have family, love, religion and that helps but they are going to demand justice one way or another (autodefensas have already happened, and have been successful, people bringing justice to themselves when no one else will. Citizens + lots of guns and good leadership.. Karama won't cut it), the pots about to boil over.

    Q: Do you have to become a vegetarian to become a Buddhist?

    • @sajanah1253
      @sajanah1253 8 років тому

      Nope. Buddha said don't take lives of other sentient beings(1st precept). and not to get involved in process of killing them. this include enslaving, hurting, ordering or selling sentient beings(in noble eight fold path). you are just buying a commodity in the market. basically a dead body or parts which contain no living being.

      Having compassion and love for people doesn’t mean you have to be okay and passive when they hurt you. You need to love and protect yourself the same as you would protect others. Not to mention protecting people who do bad things from the harm they do to themselves when acting wrongly.
