Buck Scientific - How to: Find the Lambda Max of Aspirin Using the CECIL 2041

Kylie Fawcett, a student at Bridgeport Regional Aquaculture Science and Technology Education Center, will demonstrate how to find the lambda max of aspirin using the CECIL 2041 UV/VIS instrument. She will provide a quick guide as to how to prepare your sample for the analysis and how to use the CECIL 2041 to find the lambda max of aspirin.

About Kylie Fawcett:
Kylie Fawcett is a student at BRASTEC. Her passion for scientific research was launched during her sophomore year when she took Introduction to Analytical Instruments. . The class incorporated instruction on over 10 different instruments, including the Buck GC, HPLC, Cecil and IR, and taught lab reporting and writing techniques for research. Kylie thrived in the class and embraced the challenges in perfecting equipment techniques and processes.
With her knowledge of the analytical instruments, Kylie is using the freeze dryer and IR to lyophilize and compare samples of collagen. She hopes to develop new techniques in the creation of surgical sutures.
Kylie has competed in state and national science competitions, taking first place in CT and recently ranking in the top twenty students nationwide at the national convention in Kentucky. She is also a gifted artist, Varsity athlete and President of the schools chapter of the FFA. Kylie will attend college in the fall of 2016 and hopes to study biomedical research.
