Nothing is solid but Ian McCue had said to Nick Starwind in an email that it could be released in time for the 80th but it depends if Mattel sees anything financial out of it since they are the owners of the franchise and they have the final say.
Good video. With regards to the Ladybird books, some of the stories had alternative titles. A couple were only altered by adding the name of the title character *(Gordon Off the Rails* and *Thomas Down the Mine),* while some had a completely different title (James and the Tar Wagons).
I really want to see the Down the Mine pilot. The very first material of the TV show that made so many childhoods, including my own, would be incredible to see. Lets hope it does come out in 2025, it'd be perfect to celebrate the 80th anniversary.
All we can do is hope and pray that Mattel's bosses will allow for the original recording of Down the Mine episode to be release for Thomas's 80th Anniversary. Nice job with this special video that you made @NWR1991. Wonderful job and lets hope Mattel agrees with us.
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but perhaps someday we'll see this pilot in full form. I really hope it is unearthed at somepoint and shown to they world, as it is the true start of a legacy that the world needs to know about.
Reading the info about the original lost pilot of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends and seeing this video really has a lot of interesting facts, but at the same time there are some pieces that are yet to be uncovered (just like with Adult Lily's actress in the workprints of TATMR for which Britt Allcroft did the temp voice and we yet to know who that actual actress is). If the pilot version of Down the Mine was to be released to the public for the 80th anniversary, then I'm really excited. But like you said, we have to be careful what would come next since there are numerous higher ups with Mattel currently.
The true pilot which started a TV legacy. Bravo to you for making this :D
It's hard to believe it's 40 Yrs already and it's still not Found!
I wasn’t aware that there was something like this out there somewhere.
The one that started it all.

If someone finds the pilot, I would be so happy
I would like to see this pilot someday.
It probably doesn’t hold a candle to the Final Cut we have now.
I would love to see this Pilot in its completion. I hope it is publicly released in 2025.
