    Just returned my Superblast 2.
    Was a bummer, looked forward to them for months.
    Absolutely destroyed my knees which surprised me as I’ve never had knee issues.
    Going to give these a try.

  • @roostermiller

    There seems to be a design issue with the rubber placement on the heel. If you're a lateral heel to midfoot striker you are going to wear down the foam very quickly and cause uneven wear or unstable heel. Which will bring down the cost per kilometre/mile, which from the price you are saying, they retail for around $260-$300 Australian. 🤷‍♂️

    200 dollars for a running shoe with Eva foam.
    The superblast 2 looks like a steal compared to all the super stacked shoes

    • @TolunayOrkun
      @TolunayOrkun Місяць тому +2

      Nobody seems to question Mizuno Neo Vista which is also EVA. This one at least supercritical EVA. The fact that Brooks was able to manipulate the density of the foam within a single midsole shows they have a pretty advanced process. They have bigger nitrogen bubbles in the heel (softer) and smaller (denser) bubbles in the forefoot for more response.
      This version of the DNA Loft foam actually reminds me of limited edition Brooks Aurora BL. It was/is a great riding shoe. I would say Glycerin Max is a follow up on that idea (minus decoupled heel)

  • @wordsovsean8905
    @wordsovsean8905 Місяць тому +3

    That description of soft heel landing and firmer forefoot to allow smooth transitions or a more responsive toe-off is exactly what I am not getting from the ASICS Glideride Max. It's soft heel landing into soft forefoot which has resulted in both my runs (20km and 10km) being real slogs. They're hard work, even at plod pace. Hopefully they'll grow on me, but my expectations are now pretty low.

    I was excited about it until you said 6mm drop. I understand making the drop less due to the stack height but I think what gravitates people towards the glycerins in the first place is the higher drop.

    • @philipppuchner1115
      @philipppuchner1115 Місяць тому

      @@grantmckay7014 I fkg hate high drop shoes, because it FORCES you heels first into the grpund and it is way harder to land constantly midfoot or it feels totaly artificial landing forefoot. And you have to run mid to forefoot because then the shock goes into your quads and knees and destroys them over time.
      Say hello to my medial meniscus tear after years and years having absolutely nothing and then, suddenly a feeling at the inside of the knee is starting to appear...
      When barefoot, walk and then up thr speed. As soon as walking turns into slight jogging, you are absolutely running on the forefoot. Because that's how your body is designed to work. Not making fat heels and drops to force you onto your heels, and because THEN you need even more shock absorption, they build even more foam under your heel and increase the drop further...
      I really like having "just" about 5mm drop, which makes it easier to land mid to forefoot without having tio think aboput this all the time.
      Therefore: Beeing Asics, I love my Hoka Speedgoat 5 and my Fuji Lite 4, because of the drop i suppose.
      Otherwise: Novablast 4 TR and Superblast. Additions: Mach 6, Ghost Max (1), Noosa Tri 15+16 (the later as sneaker and the GM1 still to test).
      Kayano Lite 3 felt ok, but now after some time it felt a little strange compared to the others.
      The Nimbus 26 I hate! Fat heel and if you try to land in front: hardcore loud slapping onto the ground, terrible!

    Of course everyone is different, but these shoes don't work at all for me. I don't find them especially comfortable. After using them for a few days, I found that my run times at easy run effort level are about 5 percent longer in these than in my other shoes, and they just feel heavy and clunky. I am sorry that I jumped on these so quickly based on all the positive reviews, especially given the very high price.

    • @LeePrice82
      @LeePrice82 29 днів тому

      Same as that! Had to fight with the shoe to achieve what I would call easy pace. I eventually gave up. It was as if the shoe was working against me. The sensation to me was like a normal shoe but you're running through mud or sand. I can only see a case for these as a recovery run shoe. But 180£ for a recovery run shoe!?!? Who would pay that?

    Thought the Glycerin was a max cushion shoe in itself,

    • @TolunayOrkun
      @TolunayOrkun Місяць тому +1

      Glycerin was a max. cushion shoe once upon a time when 30-33mm was max. cushion. Today max cushion is like 38-48mm range. Brooks is very conservative with their established cash-cow lines (the beginner runners, walker, just athletic sneakers) so that is why they probably chose to have Ghost Max and Glycerin Max to not risk their sales in those markets but at the same time capitalize on the Ghost and Glycerin name even though these are very different shoes.

    Terrible price point, as this puts Glycerin Max in the same arena as Skyward X and Superblast 2. Except this thing doesn't have PEBA or a plate. So where's that cost coming from? Brooks is offloading a chunk of its R&D cost to consumers.
