Very nice job. Hand Tool Rescue did one similar to this a couple of years ago. He had way too much fun with it after the restoration.

I remember seeing it! It's an awesome toy... er, tool, once it's warmed up, and really effective. Goes through paraffin at a frightening rate though!

Pity you didn't really get it going in the end, did you ever find out what was wrong with it? It would be great to see a follow-up video where you get it to work properly. They burn really hot with a powerful blue flame when working properly, that was not even getting going in the video.

I wonder what was attached to those two sticky up things with holes in on the burny end? Shoulder strap maybe? 🧡

That's what I thought, but apparently they're for a hood you can buy separately that flips over to protect it from the wind. Sounds pretty useful, actually. I might make one next year.

Hi There. Great video. I have just got the same age X300 as you. Fired it up and felt that I was not getting much of a " Roar " as some video's I have seen. More of a weak yellow flame. Just watch yours and your flame also looks a bit weak like mine. If you look at some of the other videos, you'll see what I mean. Let know what you think.

One thing I've found with these is that they're very sensitive to clogging. Particularly if yours is old like mine, the tank is likely full of dirt and debris. I've had to drain and flush mine a couple of times now. I also find the nozzle clogs quite quickly, and that makes a big difference. I can definitely get a better flame on mine now after it's been flushed through a few times.
I also think in the video, it hadn't quite warmed up enough. These things take a bit of practice to learn their ins and outs.
      Hope that helps!

Turns out the tap had a slight blockage still (the last remnants ot crud from the bottom of the tank, I guess), so it wasn't operating quite right when I made the video. Works great now! 👍
