  • Primitive thrift flips are one of my favorites to do. This great Goodwill find was the perfect DIY for an old distressed look. I show how I use petroleum jelly to create a resistance to the paint giving my wood project a distressed look and using grubby mix hack to get a cool rusted effect. I also, show how I package and create labels for the new soap line I will sell in my booth. I rescued an oak cabinet that needed a little TLC, cleaned it up and it looks good as new. #trashtotreasure #salvage #upcycle #repurpose #grubbymix #hack

    It’s a shame when people don’t take the time to fix a piece of furniture properly. Everyone thinks , stick a nail here n there n it’s fixed. Nope! That’s not how you do it. I’m happy to see you tried to fix it properly with some glue. It’s hard to do it the right way when you don’t have all the right tools but I give you kudos for most effort. Yes, it certainly is a beauty. Especially being all oak as I love oak wood. It’s very much like a washstand commode. I’m proud of you for saving it from the dump.
    Loved your cute idea at your labels for the soap. Looks pretty cool. Also loved the shelf n how you styled it. Looks very primitive they way it should look. I like Fusion paints n after seeing that mustard color makes want to order some. It’s a perfect primitive color especially adding the dark wax. Enjoyed the video today.
    ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟

    Gosh, you get the best stuff at your trash dump. The washstand was a winner. I would put something on the plywood on the inside. It cheapens the piece. Wish I lived closer and I would visit your booth but it would be a long drive from Tennessee.

    The small wall shelf looked lovely with both the greenery and the pip berries, one in summer and one for winter ? , I liked the packaging and labels on the soap my daughter makes candles and scented items with essential oils and has to put lots of information on them here in England even though nothing will be used on your skin ! 😊

    Hi. Good morning! I loved the first piece you did on this video with the greenery tucked in! It came out great! Also, I wanted to ask you, since I'm just starting to refurbish small furniture, how do you know what kind of wood you're getting? The little cabinet you had was oak and you were so sure. I have a few pieces that I have yet to start on and I wouldn't be able to tell you what kind of wood they are if you had a gun to my head!! Thank you and God Bless and have a wonderful day!!

    • @RepurposedMyWay
      @RepurposedMyWay  3 місяці тому +2

      Most of the cabinets like that are oak or maple. Very heavy and the oak is usually lighter colored. The maple takes a darker/redder look. Pine is much lighter and takes a lighter tone, and less grain. If I don't know I use the google lens app on my phone. Take a picture of it and load it up. It will give you a rough idea of what you are working with. My husband is a great source also. Good luck!

    I have a request. I have several longerburg baskets at goodwill. Those once high demand high price baskets show up for the cheap. $3.99. They are very well made but the orange color is out. Other than paint, how would you repurpose?

    • @RepurposedMyWay
      @RepurposedMyWay  3 місяці тому +1

      Some wax over the top and wiped back would probably look good. I have used antique wax on them often, it give a darker tone to the basket. A light dry brush of paint would also tone down the orange very well. Good luck!

    Where do you buy soap in bulk ? Also can you get in trouble labeling it your soap when it was someone else's?

    • @RepurposedMyWay
      @RepurposedMyWay  3 місяці тому +1

      Esty has some sellers that sell private label soap that look beautiful. Also google "private label soap" and you can shop around. They specifically make bar soap, liquid soap, body wash, lotion, & cream for private label. Some companies will make a label for you or you can make your own.
