Now, what we need is the the people who left for the outskirts and suburbs and their children to come back and reinvest in it to revitalize it organically. This neighborhood is way too rich in African-American history, heritage, and culture to let it fall to gentrification.

    I've seen some disturbing comments about the "poor homes but nice cars" case most people make. I personally think this is a classic case of ignorant arrogance. So let me explain a little bit of wuss goin on.
    This is Third Ward. I've lived and worked here at the school to the right of the screen at 14:38 . The name of the school is Generation One (Look them up and donate!). Issa non profit pre school. Most homes that are in bad shape are not owned by the residents and are being neglected so they can be vacated, sold, and bought to be torn down to build more expensive property. They do this to raise the value up so the residents can't afford to stay there anymore when the property value raises. They want wealthier residents to move in to bring in more money. So, instead of addressing the issue of poverty they are strategically pushing them out to bring in more money.
    Don't be so naive to judge people for "not prioritizing" their money, when the people with real money are doing the same thing. This neighborhood is a reflection of our country: How we prioritize the unimportant but neglect the weightier matters of life.
    And stop judging, cuz yo scary a** aint finna go there.

      No disrespect to you man. I was born and raised in houston. But when investors see this opportunity they have no remorse for those who don't have pride in what they have even if its a small neglected house. They'll buy alot buy that small house, build and raise the taxes. Those that can't pay higher taxes abandon their home or are bought out. Its an on going issue...

    • @jeauxmayo
      @jeauxmayo 2 роки тому +1

      @@guess-who3991 this is me. (My artist page). No disrespect taken. You just reiterating what I said tho.
      The truth is this: You don't fix a neighborhood by moving the residents out. You fix a neighborhood by helping the residents. Teaching, serving, and meeting needs. That takes actual work, time, and patience. True American Spirit. Not this predatory mess.

Может поэтому он и не углубляется особо в эти районы, иногда на его видео попадают драки и полицейские задержания. Вы наверное его не давно смотрите. One of the absolute worst things about Houston is there are too many people and the city has overbuilt. There are businesses within neighborhoods & visa versa. There are hardly any areas of open land and if there are, something is slapped up on it right quick. Too many people crammed into an already overcrowded city.

    • @EAZIIMAN
      @EAZIIMAN 2 роки тому

      I don't think it's overcrowded. Hear me out, this city started off much like any other city in the us before the invention of cars, on a grid and very walkable. I'm guessing you mean overcrowded on the roads which is very true. But only because the only mode of transportation was driving a car and maybe a bus for a long time. The "city" if you can call it that outside of the inner loop takes up to much space with roads and residential neighborhoods that adds to the flooding issue. I don't know if Houstonians would agree with this but I think the city should cut back on building out and invest on building up because while usable land seems limitless they will eventually run out of space. I'm hopeful because Houston seems to be making progress on some of their issues .they're not perfect solutions but at least they're addressing their issues rather than sweeping it under the rug.
