Creator of the map here. You pretty much nailed it with your explanations for both the background of this map, as well as what went into porting it to consoles.
This map is absolutely horrible for the console physics. Caramel skatepark was a decent addition but this one.... if you want to skate anything in it you need half a push and have to bump out of everything to make skating any of it look semi decent.
To be completely honest I have a feeling most maps are going to be smaller skatepark maps. One of the things EasyDay has to deal with is licensing. Meaning the maps they can easily throw onto the mod browser have to be license safe. Most city and street maps have some sort of branding on windows, bilboards, sings, etc. Which could give them legal issues. So, unless map makers are willing to do full scrubs to old/popular maps I think a majority of options are small skateparks and very small maps that might not necessarily have a lot of flow/options. Buuuuuut, that's just my thoughts on the matter.
Them posting modded clips is just false advertising because they know it plays like shit on console. Adding community made maps without optimizing them or anything is just an easy cash grab.
i think i will still be playing SKL when skate comes out. i feel skate will monetize it and the animations wont be as fluid as modded XL. just my thoughts.
Yeah the skills will convert for the most part-they did for me. The biggest difference in playability, other than the controls, is that XL is physics based rather than animation based. XL will definitely feel a little wonky at first because of this but once you're dialed in the game feels great, in my opinion. The physics-based system gives you more leeway to stylize your skating and the game feels a lot less "stiff" than session because of it. That being said absolutely don't buy XL on console/don't intend to mod it. The vanilla game is like a 3/10 and its ongoing development is arguably deader than Session's.
Skateboarding sims are in a weird niche with PC modding it seems. Most mods are entirely visual, but for skateboarding the biggest visual flaw is the flow and physics. So, largely it can be the same image quality, but gameplay is everything, even more so! Having such an enormous asset missing still, even at the expense of playability for a large consumer base is less than agreeable by this point. Especially when the competition offers near perfect stat control for the albeit limited gameplay systems, therein maximising replay-ability and value. In short. Let's not call it a comeback... yet...(?)
Obviously it's shit on vanilla, which is a shame because that's a great map with great scale and a really nice vibe Also, I know it's an impossible dream but I wish we could port burnt's bust or bail map, such a legendary map and it's such a shame that we can't play on it on console
it skates like shit, i know there are ways to make vanilla feel realistic sometimes, but i think it would be so simple for easy day to add a stats menu, i remember they made a statement long ago that said "a stats menu doesnt fit our future plans" almost hinting that they had something planned for the game, but obviously, years later, they have no plans for the game other than putting out clothes and maps made by the community, they haven't improved the game at all.
For console, this park is too too bad. What helps a lot is using the baby pop glitch. Learning how to use it really helps especially if ED is going to be just porting maps like this to the game
i really disagree. I think there doing sweet F all. There's been no updates. All the real work is being done by modders. There doing nothing. F knows how there even a studio at this point.
Im so fucking pissed that I wasted time and money on this putrid turd of a game. They’re not even capable of putting stats on console. This game deserves to be abandoned for eternity.
They need to say screw that vision shit and just add some sliders for certain values for players to play with on console and pump them community maps out on browser. That would be the ultimate comeback.
How are they? Creature at least have had some updates and more maps than Easydays (DLC maps that have to be paid for :/). EasyDays haven't had a single update for over a 2 years. They never released there 2023 announced update. And the Maps they release aren't even made by them. There just stolen work from modders.
@5hif7yx86 for instance. Creature bombed the community discord, and when it comes to any kind of response from Creature regarding updates, glitches, and so on, they are generally copied and pasted responses. Nightspeed got in touch with easy day, and they at least responded like humans would. Unlike Donovan. Easy day aren't stealing maps from the moding community.
Easy day is doing what more for the community? Importing already existing pc maps to console is enough for you? Even at 5:17 pigeon saids this is a low effort attempt to keep this game "alive".. & copy and paste responses where? Creature actually communicates on IG daily.. & recently fixed the bounce glitch bug that everyone been asking for.. unlike easyday, nobody is asking for new maps on xl, the games been over saturated with them... then they don't even scale them properly for console players making them useless.. We want game changing content. Lastly nightspeeds got in touch with easy day when? Back in 2020? Bc we're still waiting for "new stuff brewing in 2022" in 2025 so what are you talking about?
the games been over there is no need to update it at all except for console which if they just want to be left alone i dont know why they dont just give console ingame mods and stats and access to mod io clothing it literally cant be that hard i stopped playing the game its dead and its not fun anymore i dont think theres anything they can really do for a comeback
For console its pretty unplayable, too small and the rails are sharp so you just get speed boosted so the flow is impossible. Promoting the map with modded gameplay is very misleading, its all just lazy work and a slap in the face yet again
It sucks that people had to bash the developer in the beginning. Yeah there wasn't much at the start, but im pretty sure there wasn't a lot of people in easy day.We might have had mods implemented in the game already. Both the community and the developers are at fault for this. And the fact that the game was 40 bucks at launch.
you should look into why we bashed EDS. I'm not going to say it was justified completely, but they weren't exactly a very liberal game studio in terms of basically any changes being made to their game. The issue wasn't that there wasn't a ton of stuff at the start, it was that they were trying to kneecap the community's progress so they could keep control.
As someone on console it skates pretty good, ya some stuffs a little small but its not horrible with vanilla gravity, i think its a great directions with the maps especially with like the 2 new maps in a month
No, no it's not a comeback, it's a final wheeze and a fart in the wind before it's completely abandoned, much like Session is.
100%
A wheeze and a fart is the best way to describe this haha
Session is still strong among the purists
Session just had an game changing update about a month ago.. So definitely not abandoned.. If you're out of the loop just say that.
@@415KiDD Dude they shut down there discord and announced there working on a new game. this game is dead.
Creator of the map here. You pretty much nailed it with your explanations for both the background of this map, as well as what went into porting it to consoles.
Oh sick, congrats on the map port bro!
So ironic that the scale doesn’t even work on console. Will be stickin to session
Well it's the original version from two years ago so this isn't the exact one if they scaled the other
Skater XL is unplayable on console after experiencing Session, very frustrating

Wow, thanks for giving the updated stats so quick, real one! great video swell
Use you own stats bro they ain't that hard to figure out

thank you for updating your stats, any chance you could do your camera settings next? 🙏🙏🙏
Yes! Sorry I completely forgot about camera settings, will sort that out soon.
@ you’re a legend bro keep up the great vids

When pigeon theif reaches 10 mill I’ll get a pc to play mods
Hahaha SAME 😂😂
You might be waiting a while 😬
I think everything is too short, but the height is actually not too bad on console. One of the only maps I really like moving slow on though
i think i will still be playing SKL when skate comes out. i feel skate will monetize it and the animations wont be as fluid as modded XL. just my thoughts.
since session has been going downhill i wanna pick up skater xl. do the skills convert between games just wondering?
Little bit of a controls difference but other than that the skills transfer over
No not even close. Session is leagues more true to the footwork of actual skating
You can do 0 input and grind so its way easier but its kinda less fun in that way
If session is going down hill then xl been rolled off the hill and fell into an firey pit

It’s actually pretty good on console, the big handrails kinda suck cause u have to move like a turtle towards them but everything else is solid
u could reset the settings to see what its like on console
Session is a way better game
Facts
Its just more put together, got boyh but i agree
@@BigRevenge me too i loved skater xl until you play arounf with all the settings in sessions... You can make sessions feel way more realistic
Saw this map and downloaded it pretty fun map decent flow

6:07 what the hell was that?? *explosion sound*
What sound mod do you use ?
are you done with session?
Nope, I uploaded a Session vid 4 days ago
@ oh yeah, that’s right. I even watched that one when he posted it. I think I’m gonna get skater XL just to have it now alsolol

hope the map makers are getting paid, a little bit at least. Just toggle your mods and see how default feels
