    Where in the world did you find the Chanel, Macy's etc buildings? I have looked all over net and cannot find. Love the village.

      Thank you Marlene. Those shops were rehabbed buildings from other original Dept56 buildings. I rehabbed to make Chanel and Starbucks and my friend did Manolo, Macy’s and others for me.

      @@danadoan You really have to know the pieces to recognize their origins. A normal person would never even guess what was done there for those pieces to look like that.

    Some amount of work went into this, amazing attention to detail. Brought back memories of when I went to NYC in December 2017..... rockettes & Radio City, Rockefellar Plaza, Macy's, you captured it all. It brought back many memories. NYC at Christmas is a must-see and should be on everybody's bucket list. Anyway, fantastic work. Love it!

      @@BalliBee yes. There’s still many restrictions this year but tourists are visiting. Hopefully next year will be back to normal.

    Could you tell me how you were able to switch out the things inside the LV, Channel and Manolo Blahnik stores?

      You can use hair dryer to gently blow on the window. The ‘glass window’ is glued on with hot glue so the glue will melt. Then you can again gently blow on the objects inside the window to remove them.

    Love, love, love your display! It is truly amazing. I am struggling now to layout my streets for a city. I don't suppose your layout is available anywhere? Sorry if this is asking for too much but I have watched your video numerous times trying to figure out how you have set up your blocks and can't manage.

      I wish I could add photos here. But basically, the whole display is sitting on 2-inch thick styrofoam sheets. The blocks that the houses are sitting on are 0.5-inch styrofoam sheets that I carved and painted. If you send me a FB messager messages, I’ll send you some pics of the bases.

    What are the Asian Buildings and Accessories? I recognize the Jade Palace but not the others. So beautiful!

      A lot of the Asian figurines are from King and Country Old Street of Hong Kong. There’s 2 houses/accessories from Dickens Village. The other CIC building is called ‘Golden Ox’.

      They were transformed from other CIC buildings. I did 2 rehabs and my friend did 3 for me.

      All the buildings are from Department 56 Christmas in The City collection. All the retired items I got from secondary market place (like FB marketplace or eBay). The current pieces I got from department 56 dealers. Do a search on Amazon and eBay for ‘department 56 Christmas in the city’ and see what’s available.

      Thank you. I decided to alternate different collections. This is the first year I built NYC. I’m working on North Pole now. I was going to do Harry Potter after North Pole but I don’t think I have the energy. I’ll go back to Dickens next year.

      Thank you so much Anthony. That was my little tribute to the city that had given so much to me.
      My friend did a few rehabs for me from other original Dept56 buildings. He painted, changed interior window scenes and made signs with stickers. I did Channel and Starbucks myself.

    what two colors did you use and did you use a darker color in the grooves.

      I just used dark gray mixed with a little more black in the grooves. Basically I painted the whole surface with that dark color. Then dry brushed lighter gray on top.

      CIC Welcoming Christmas for Chanel
      Dairy Queen for LV (my friend did this and the next two for me)
      Davidson’s Department Store for Macy’s
      Lafayette’s Bakery for Manolo Blahnik.

    This is so stunning! Beautifully done. How do you hide your cords so well? do you have holes under the buildings? P.S. thank you for the tip on making the sidewalks, I tried my hand at them for this years display. :-)

      Thanks Paulette. I made a styrofoam base so holes were carved underneath the buildings. All the street lights and lighted accessories go through those holes. The great thing about styrofoam is you can make channels and push the cords into those channels

      @@enricoviani1204 I made the cobble stone bases myself. The bases (blocks of buildings) are 1/2 inch styrofoam sheets that I carved using the Hotwire foam cutters/carved. Then I painted dark color and dry-brushed with the lighter color.
