Many people will highly disagree with me but this is one of the best movies of all time. Top ten for sure. Excalibur is my all time favorite. This movie has it all. Very good story. Perfectly written. Terrific cast. Outstanding score by Tangerine Dream. Never gets old that's for sure.
The most underrated movie of the '70.
I agree - I think you would also like Thief by Michael Mann (also with great Tangerine Dream score).
Yes it s a really great movie.
Peut-être pas un des meilleurs films de tous les temps , mais , certainement un excellent remake !
Hard-core off-road
Another thing I love about Tangerine Dream is that I have actually discovered some great movies BECAUSE they did the film scores. I had never seen Thief or Sorcerer but decided to watch them because of TD.
I got into TD because of Firestarter
They did the soundtrack for the movie The Keep. It's really good too.
same story. I did it like you
Firestarter also, staring a baby Drew Barrymore
So many movies from Risky Business and beyond...
Wow just what I needed to get my stress levels down.
A fanstastic movie with Roy Scheider.
In a way for me because of "Jaws" EVERY Scheider movie is kind of sacred LOL ;)
A very underrated film. Great suspense and action. For some reason the critics came down on it like a ton of bricks. Great soundtrack for a solid film. Worth watching!
The original Star Wars came out the same week and dwarfed it. I saw the film and loved it. Can't seem to find it anywhere to watch. Love to see it again.
All very true 🤙

Underseen not Underrated
I thought this movie was incredible! In my Top 5! And this soundtrack helps with that.
A Masterpiece for a Masterpiece ❤
Saw this in a little theater in 77. It burned a hole in my brain. If you haven't see the original French film on which this film is based, you are missing what drove the director in the modern version. That film is called Wages of Fear and is based on the book Le Salaire de la peur. Really great folks are finding it through the soundtrack.
I read a great review for this film, saying how it missed out first time round, but should not be missed
I remember this movie as a kid. Never ever forgot it. I'd really like to see it again...
I watched this film on video in the 80s and thought it superb, soundtrack, photography, everything, across the board. Listening to the music now for the first time since then I'm still captivated by the sheer genius of Tangerine Dream. They made a good film into a great one with their soundtrack
I remember bypassing Star Wars to see this. And after seeing SWars,, I prefer this plus the soundtrack is very gripping.
I loved this movie as a teenager. I rewatched it a few years ago and still loved it.
this is a top story shame we cant make films like this anymore with an actual STORY number six in my all time best and this soundtrack just perfect
I sought the recreation of a particular track, and it's at 33m. I've seen Wages of Fear, but not Sorcerer. WoF, you gotta dig yer feet in for a long ride. But this is classic TD, despite Froese trying to rewrite everything before he died.
Such a great film and soundtrack 👏😎🇨🇱❗️
True 🇵🇱
Not only do I love tangerine dream the first time I saw this movie I fell in love Roy scheider was the only recognizable actor and the reason why it didn't make a hit at the box office there wasn't enough well-known actors only Roy scheider and it became a failure at the beginning but it started to gain recognition and more people watched it and of course the movie score tangerine dream helped and it started to grow in popularity 35 years have passed and I saw it again and love the movie the ending is unforgettable 😎
this sounds pretty radically different from the original. Even so, this album was in my opinion a game changer - being a collection of short form pieces forced TD to cram many more ideas and textures into one album.
One of the late William Freidkin's greatest movies. I heard the wonderful score long before I was able to see the movie and was obsessed with seeing it. When I eventually did it was a great experience.
Same here
My GF told me about this film, after we saw the Season 2 of Mando. I love TD, so now I need to see the film.
This film was highly anticipated and expected to do very well as William Friedkin was in his prime and everyone was like "what is he going to do next???"
Only problem was it was released at the same time as this other movie called "Star Wars".
star wars ruined everything, i wonder what it felt like back then? like som epropaganda campaign ?
I saw film yonks ago and could never forget it. My mum (now 85) had a lot of their albums. Music always amazing. I use this soundtrack (and other TD) for my art work. It puts me into such a creative mood. Love TD soooo much. Xxx
Another 😊 great soundtrack from the best hypnotic electronic group ever. I bought this one in 1976 when it first 🥇 came out,a winner 🏆 for sure stone out and Dream yeeeesaaaaa friends..
Mmmm.. I disagree.. Because I prefer the original versión.. Is deeper.. And Dark.. Like the film..
Wow this music 😻
Excellent film, excellent music
Makes me remember peyote 😵💫
This is freedom just hearing this soundtrack thank you whoever put it here blessings hope gets better for 2021 22 23 my golden years left hope at 51 there’s a spark for better love to transcend message of hope wisdom thinking clearly.
just you wait ;)
Super muzyka!!!! Brawo!!!!!
Can't remember that I ever heard this soundtrack (I knew about the record, but never bought it). Now I know where some of the stuff on later records (and some concerts) came from, I've recognized some of the pieces. I might have a look after a CD of this one …
heavens gate
and sorcerer.
2 of the most
railroaded films
in cinema.
Great Taoly Work!!!
I liked Wages of Fear a little better, but the scene on that swaying bridge in a howling rainstorm is as suspenseful as anything ever filmed... A magnificent movie.
Imagine how they shot that! 😮
One of Bill Friedkin's best movies, and ahead of his time. Audiences wanted more banal demons and angels, which is not what this film remotely tried to be (plus the clownishly popular "Star Wars" tripe was released around the same time). Based on Henri Clouzot's "Wages of Fear" , this film brings a depth of brilliance to the screen, with disdainful mockery of action films of the time. Indeed it is man's struggle with his own fear, but guided by his unending lust for fortune. A classic.
I totally agree with you. This is Fridkin's most ambitious and author's project! The great and forgotten gem of the Golden Age of Hollywood. One of the most time consuming films of the 20th century. The painting has quarreled the recognized master with the whole world. A hard film strip that failed with a loud crash at the box office. It is now considered a cult classic and the most underrated work of an outstanding director.
I prefer the french origin but miss there the music of TD. 😃
William Friedkin said in several interviews that the film is based on Georges Arnaud's novel rather than Clouzot's film, although the film is dedicated to Clouzot in the credits. So, it's not actually a remake but another version of the novel. I think it's one of the greatest films ever made. By the way, the pipe organ heard throughout the film is from Keith Jarrett's album "Hymns and Spheres". I don't care much for this version of the music score, there's way too much Rock guitar which ruins it.
One of the few TD movies I've never seen.
Gracias por compartir..,.... saludos desde ECATEPEC MÉXICO.....🎵🎵🎵🎵 progresivo...con
Saw this Forgotten Film, and immediately had to find the soundtrack. Both are vastly underrated.
Same here. This movie kept me on the edge of my seat the whole ride. Loved it
Originally this film just hit the market at the same time as Star Wars and just got crushed by it. It has a sort of cult following now. Love the Tangerine Dream score - it's awesome.
Found the soundtrack first which also introduced me to Tangerine Dream. 45 years later I finally saw the movie. It just wasn't anywhere but I did one day find it on Amazon (sorry, not trying to promote them but that's where I found it).
@@huletnadof313 I love those one-note films where the characters are pitted against a single obstacle; the movie is the genius they use to overcome it. Best examples: THE HITCHER, 127 HOURS, this…Thanks for mentioning where you found it.
@@SaintVodou ...and none of the characters are conventional "good guys" ...yet you do root for them ! ....
Never seen the movie .... gunna look for it though! But. ..... what can you say ................................" tangerine dreaming!"
The original TD sound scapes scared me to death as did the movie, full of tension and fear. Bought the original vynyl when it first came out (Sorcerer).
By the way both movies midnight Express and the Sorcerer can be watched completely in UA-cam I did not know that until recently and for those who speak Spanish they are the translated in Spanish version you just have to say complete movies in Spanish and a lot of them pop up 😁
This film and soundtrack are both forgotten greats. The film itself has undergone serious revaluation some several decades later, and is now considered a cinematic masterpiece.
Let's not forget midnight Express with the score of tangerine dream another great and this was a hit movie even though it wasn't but one or two known actors Randy Quaid stole the show and Brad Davis was new but the best yet he never really appeared in too many other movies he was one of a kind
William Friedkins best movie ever. The soundtrack by Tangerine Dream was created without even looking at the film. I saw this movie when I was 9 and still thought it was amazing. Fuck Star Wars.
Star Wars has nothing to do with it! Totally different movie. What's the point in mentioning sw?
@@lucagiovanetti9870 Star Wars came out a week before Sorcerer and many believe that this is a big reason why Sorcerer did not catch on. SW monopolized many theaters and pushed a lot of films out early so theaters could go back to showing it. That's why.
Star Wars was always pop crap.
10:01 ❤ Beautiful.
GOOD MUSIC .
Thanks...Great Score...Great Film.
Great new version of an old soundtrack. I used to have the old version on a cassette.
Best movie one of my favorites
Capolavoro di Friedkin, soundtrack bellissimo.
Me gusta lo mejor ❤
❤ gracias me gusta estar con ustedes
Cette superbe musique accompagne très agréablement l'excellent remake du ' salaire de la peur ' de Friedking
Top extended version. The first vinyl I have buyed... Jamais regretté,,, good remix here. Thanks for the H-Râ Stempel...
à l'époque, s'acheter un disque, pour un étudiant, changeait sa vie,,, et choisir entre Klaus Schulze et Tangerine Dream était déjà toute une entreprise...
super einfach nur geil!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they remade the movie a woman would be driving over the bridge. Nothing wrong with that so long it's Michelle Rodriguez.
never seen the film but the music by TD just means i have to to watch it now lol
Thank you!
Very Cosmiche! It’s a classic!
Online sellers want nearly forty quid for this on CD! Love this version of the sound track though.
Try using Audio Hijack Pro. I record a lot of audio podcasts and albums that are unavailable and out of production.
@@rancosteel Thanks I may give it a try👍
Excellent! I prefer this to the original album by far.
I can't compare it any more - had it on an old cassette tape - the tape is ruined - so I'll go with this version - has all the memories I have of the original.
Clever use of dnb breaks. Nice.
Good Stuff. Roar.

Thanks for this upload, I wasn't aware of this reworked version. Love it!
This movie is a remake of the movie " wages of fear". Both are great. The movie bombed because the directors last movie was "the Exorcist" and many people including me thought it was another demon/ horror movie. Remember watching it and wondering when are the demons coming.. no demons but back then you could hang around and watch it again. I did .
Oh, there was definitely a demon.
@@SteveAydt where?
The titular Sorcerer who plagued them on the road.
It´s not a remake, it´s a different adaptation of the novel.
@@SteveAydt Lol, Sorcerer is the name of the truck that explodes. It´s a metaphor for fate. Like a evil wizard. That´s why it´s called Sorcerer.
Sweet, sounds like the soundtrack to the Sega Genesis Game Thunderforce!
!! Únicos!!

The movie Sucks but the music 🎶 is great all their soundtracks are sensational A huge fan for 48 years .Get high and dream friends.
Ah.... good.
The Sinthesizers Overlords.
Absolutely insane, badass movie and sick moviemaking. Doomed to obscurity partially because of its shitty title. Oh well. At least we have it now!!
Had Friedkin made the 'mistake' of naming this remake the same as the original, 'The Wages of Fear,' then he would have had nothing to fear as the first film had been -- in the U.S. -- largely forgotten for political reasons in the near 25-years gone-by. Calling a spade a spade (as in card games) vanquishes trepidity, which ‘Sorcerer’ grossly displayed in its’ ridiculous title for this otherwise superb film, and on many fronts, too.
Quote, from the Clouzot original -
Mario: ‘Wherever there's oil there's Americans.’
❤❤❤
Saw this film on HBO in the late, late 70s. My conclusion at that time was, damn, i glad i was not one of characters, they were all scr#wed. Kinda out there.
Know it's along time ago but if you want the cream and the crop...check out The Keep...movie and soundtrack...thanks
What we always wanted was the missing music from the 1977 tapes. This remixed stuff is overblown to me but I suppose it all depends which you hear first.
Fuckin amazing
This film got swept under by a combo of the Star Wars phenomenon and the studio hating the director of the film.
But surely they saw the script and storyboards. And must have surely watched Wages of Fear. Sorry, didn't mean to call you Shirly!
I just discovered there are, apparently, two versions of this film score. Both are available on iTunes. Does anyone know why there are two? I can’t seem to find a straight answer anywhere. Thanks!
The original - released in 1977 and the double-disc re-recording from 2014. The original soundtrack (as in the music used in the film) also uses parts of Keith Jarrett's Spheres/Hymns part 3- which is sometimes mixed in with TD's socre
Iirc, there is the original 1977 soundtrack and a remix that TD did a few years ago. They did that with some of their songs. Their ‘Stratosfear’ song itself has probably a half dozen different versions and I think their ‘Tyger’ album has two different versions.
who really played the music here? I know that this music originally came from Tangerine Dream. but who is this production really here from?
This is the more recently ( 2014) reworked version from Tangerine dream. The older version ( from 1977) was the officially released soundtrack from Froese, Franke, Baumann that were TD back then.
Edgar Froese and the other newer members of Tangerine dream have reworked several classic older albums ( both from the band or E. Froese's personal works) in the last decades. This "Sorcerer" reworking is among the most successful remakes. Some others are not so, in my opinion..
fantastic

What's the source for this? This is way longer than the regular LP.
Tangerine Dream re-performed, re-recorded, re-mixed and re-produced this, back in 2014. One of the last album productions before Edgar's death.

why does this version sound different from the iTunes version, in particular Impression of Sorcerer? Was this remastered by you|? if so, how can I get a copy of it?

@@imonke5303 you're welcome 😊
The original - 'Le Salaire de la peur' [1953] - was better.
Sorry but this ain't the Sorcerer score. It lacks all the depth and mood of the original.
Is this another one of those situations where Edgar got bored and decided to mess around with a historical work that should have been left alone, just like he did with Tangram!?😖
for my taste the original is better.
THE THIRD SONG IS MY LEAST FAVORITE BECUSE IT ISN'T SOUNDS WHAT IT SOPUSED TO BE I PREFER THE ORIGINAL CREATION THAN THIS ONE IT DOESN'T SOUNDS THE SAME IT SOUND LAME DUDE VERY BUT VERY LAME
Shitty movie great 😃😃😃 music get high and dream
original version is much more better ..
Sooooo cheap done....bad job
Re recording...bullshit
The original is pfantastic
RIP EDAGAR FROESE
I really have tried to like this re-make but I can't listen to it. Too many redundant overdubs, no space being left for the music to breathe, too many competing mofifs, It's just a mess. Listening to this version, you wouldn't know that the original album was a masterpiece. Why would anyone take a perfect recipe and pour in a bucket of poorly chosen ingredients that totally obliterate all the flavours and textures you had before? Why?!
Sadly, while Edgar was still alive, he also did what you described with more albums, like Phaedra and Tangram. I disagree too with this philosophy but, what can you do? it was his music, his choices..
❤
