Good advice your spot on I have a 67 with 289 stock radiator fan shroud a/c fan and fresh mild rebuild doesn't over heat rust in the water jacket big problem with overheating.
0:11 I've got the same mustang, I just cannot drive this classic car with peace of mind because of the same overheating issues, I'm gonna run exactly what you said
I put the 69 Cougar C9WE clutch fan on my 69 351W 4V Mach 1 with 20" rad since 69 Mustang only had a clutch fan for the 24" rad. Obviously the 24" rad with the bigger diameter clutch fan would be better, but my setup with 10 degrees initial timing kept my engine cool
I font get it. Im cooling a 351W with an alunlminum V6 Ranger radiator. Its only 1.5" thick maximum. 180* stat. Put it in fir a test drive and been in there 8 years. 🙄

Yes, the amount of rust that coolant filter collected even after flushing multiple times was amazing.

Let me know how it works out.
Any update on the build?

the 24" radiator is definitely a great add. That extra cooling capacity is a big bonus.
