Thank you. Your videos are incredibly in-depth and my play/survivability immediately got better. Damage has improved now that I take angle into account.
Great video as always, iChase. Thank you. I have one suggestion to improve the presentation though. When listening to the explanation of destroyer roles I caught myself reading the on-screen text ahead of what you were talking about. Once I was done reading all of the text I felt like the point was made and I allowed myself to get distracted and browse in other tabs. Normally, you want to keep the audience engaged by not revealing all of the points at once. Notice how many good PowerPoint decks are structured, for example. Even if it makes sense to present a lot of information on one slide (which is actually rarely the case), you want separate points to pop in one by one using animations as you talk rather than have it all on the screen at the same time. Anyway, keep up the good work :)
If everybody would play like that, DDs would get nerfed quickly! No, let's be happy to see some baaaad DDs sometimes. (in the ennemy team, it would be great! :P)
You should add annotation how DDs should deploy smoke: 1/4 of speed to lay smoke for themselves when detected Fullspeed when laying smoke for other ships and not detected
and just because you have AP loaded, doesn't mean you can't make big holes in DD hulls. Also featuring how to target DD's with your secondary batteries, and make them question their life choices.
Also to NOT go straight in at DDs or Cruisers with torps, but rather to turn _Away_ from them full turn early on and kite them. Works so well its almost like cheating.... ;3 (they fail to torp ya, as your guns burn em down) - Also to how to master the "Slow Roll" effect, and when to turn vs when to use reverse as some BBs esp the Germans are very good at changing speed.
Thank You very much ichase for making this video. Since watching it, my Russian and American destroyers game play has DRAMATICALLY improved. I was really struggling with DDs before, but by following your general strategies I have been able to able to finish the last 50 games with over 1000 base experience each. Most games I finish near the top and and it is not uncommon now to find myself having a decisive impact on the match. I still struggle with the Japanese line, but any improvement is nice to have. Thanks again :)
Thank you very much for the clear explanation on how to play torpedo boats. Having changed from USN and Ru gunboats, it feels so vulnerable without your pewpew sticks. You deserve more likes than this. Keep up the good work,iChase!
These videos are too long for my quick-twitch CoD brain, but after 3 consecutive days of watching, I managed to finish your vid. 😂 It was worth it! I think I learned a lot, and I'm excited to apply what I've learned about the different types of destroyer.
Thanks! I have been playing for a couple months....and it's time for me to start learning. This will help me quite a bit. Appreciate your time and efforts in keeping me alive and helping other team mates. I have a handful of DD's now...and am going to figure out which are in your 3 categories. Hopefully, I will be successful in adding some tricks to my bag.
iChase, thanks a bunch for this video. I always held one set of torps in reserve while playing IJN DDs and always wondered why everyone was dodging so easily. Just tried a battle where I launched everything and spread them out more so they'd be more of a wall. It worked great!
I really like your videos and thank you ! Could you make a separate channel or playlist were you make videos for new or newer players. Many things you show are T7 and higher tiers, which is very good but for new player the amount of information and depth of information is overwhelming. In example what I was looking for is how to play T3-5 cruisers , destroyers, battleships etc when you don't have that 10 point captain yet. Sure advanced players I think they also time to time play low tier ships, but majority of people are beginners under 1000 battles or so... I think there are some corners that while give one advantage are not nearly as important as basic stuff.... In example how to play Wakataka, or Isokaze when you just don't have that Concealment captain perk... Thanks again for your channel.
15:36 The Benson can have a 5.8km detection so it still something to worry about, if he's steaming in your direction you won't be able to do a 180º in the 300m diference in concelment, and at that distance the benson will melt you so fast.
well the thing is, you really need support (role for gunboats to deal with hybrids) but also once gunboat engages, you can also engage. Fubuki guns hurt like hell over 2k per HE salvo...Bensons are good, but won't resist that kind of damage for long
Nice video. I personally love playing USN destroyers even got the Sims which I had some good games in the 5.5 km torps are better than the long range ones I really only use them when I meet ships around a corner. Destroyers are like the only ship I'm actually good at.
Before I went to bed I got off World of Warships thinking to myself that it would be nice to figure out what to do with my Nicholas Destroyer, and low and behold you put up a how to DD video; just what I needed. And it certainly strengthen my view from playing the American Tier 5 destroyer that I need to be a bit more supportive for the team. By the way, what crew skills would you suggest after the Tier 3 captain skills for someone going down the American DD lines?
er, clem's actually got a decent amount of torps, 2 on each side.......perhaps next time try to slip between 2 enemy BBs and enjoy the double strike/70k dmg in under 10 seconds
I'm so impressed by this video. Such a complex topic with so many classifications and their respective play style, yet your spectrum and the follow-up explanation work so well. Personally I really want to learn to play Japanese destroyers. My win rate is around or over 60% for every ship class except Japanese destroyers, for which I have a terrible 46%. I just don't have the patience for them, and torpedoes are becoming increasingly less reliable as players grow more experienced. Your sample Fubuki game was a really good positioning guide to me. Thanks a lot for making awesome videos like this!
As a committed DD player, I find that I go capping and the cruisers and Battle ships don't cover me and leave me to simply die. They run at 1/2 speed to aid you, only to arrive find my floating remains. They never protect the gains I make capping or worst yet, they wait till I die so they can cap themselves, me being a delay for their pleasure. Not one shot fired. But boy do they shoot when going in.
Great video but I disagree with torp boats being 1st to cap vs gunboats. The torpedo boat that runs headlong into a cap is heading into the gunboat on the other team at a very high rate of speed. You will detect them without enough time to turn away before they see you, you will lose speed on your turn, they will set you aflame and the cruisers behind them will open up. You also are very unlikely to use your only viable weapon on them successfully, your torpedoes.
which is why you make pre emp turn and stay at the border like what that Fubuki on Khebabroast clip did. From there after assuring that you got a support you slowly advance into the distance where you cover the entire cap zone with your concealment presence and flash out incoming DD, you actually don't have to worry about accidentally running into russian DD, it won't happen if you don't go full speed ahead 24/7
Insanitypepper Yep just started this game. And this happens to me every time. But I'm like a dog in heat. I go screaming towards the nearest cap every time. I get lit up every time. Exactly as you just described.
With small, fragile DD’s I get the the cap, and fire torpedoes into it to discourage the other team from entering but don’t enter myself. Rule 1, stay alive.
For new players reading this in the future, by "capping" he means capturing enemy bases. In the gameplay portion of the video the "caps" are the circles labeled A,B,C,D
Thanks for the video man! I really need help because i just started playing this game and im on tier v on the gearing line, so yeah i didnt know what to do and idk how to thank you enough!!! U got my sub and bell! Tysm bro love you
Hey Chase, can you please make a video going over the entire USN destroyer line? I'm trying to get through them and I'm really struggling with it. Thank you!
ICHASE I would appreciate if you would do a video like this again for dds and for other ships like cruisers, carriers, etc that are updated with the new ships in the game. If this could be redone and updated that would be much appreciated
Honestly, I was thinking that the Gremyashchy was more of a true gunboat than it was being close to a hybrid boat. I know that the torpedos have an 8km range and traveled at 55 knots, but the poor gun rotation of 180 degrees at 21.8 seconds, was generally keeping me as close to max gun range as possible. Maybe I have to try to get within 8km so I can fire off my torpedos and possibly guns.
Yes. They fire 1 Torpedo at a time. I've seen footage of that. And they get better firing arcs than the US guns... and fast reload... AND SMOKE! I really don't know how they will balance that (how the fire chance is, how long the smoke lasts / recharges etc.) but given how OP the Flint is with it's terrible firing arcs, I really don't like what I see about the british cruisers so far. From the the footage I saw of them being played, it almost looks as if they made an entire tech tree of Khabarovsks :-/ Seems like Battleships in the future will be even more scared of HE spam, more hesitant to push in and play even more passive. Exactly what the Meta in this game does NOT need.
***** Oh, I am not angry. I am just expressing my worries. There are only so many different ways / styles ships can be played in. All I have seen and read about those new cruisers points in a direction that I could not be less happy with... Just let me explain why I think so: (Infos on citadel size and armor are directly from the armor viewer in game) 1. Huge citadels above the waterline mean they can't take AP hits from the side -> stay angled 2. very weak bow armor plating (16mm for T10) mean your bow armor is overmatched by any BB, including Scharnhorst. The citadel from the bow is pretty big + the citadel plate inside the ship is not sloped in any way + deck armor is very thin as well. So any BB should be able to citadel you right through the front and from almost any range -> stay angled against cruisers and stay far far away from BBs. 3. small caliber guns mean they have bad penetration and AP performance -> use HE 1+2+3 = You will have to stay far away from any BB and you will have to rely on HE -> You will be a passive, long range HE spamming machine. Given that the cruisers (especially IJN) already can do HE spam very very well and are not nearly as vulnerable, the RN CLs seem pointless. There are 2 things that could make them playable: 1. Smoke (which they have) 2. The abilty to stealth fire (which they might have as well, given their small guns) Both these features depend on stealth. Conclusion: You will spam HE from long range (possibly stealth firing) or from smoke (certainly stealth firing)... More HE spam is something this game certainly does not need. Being shot at by invisible targets more frequently is something this game certainly does not need (there is a reason why they increased the soviet DDs gun detection debuff). I know I am speculating to some extent, but my speculations are based on the game mechanics, which I very much doubt will suddenly be different for a new Tech tree. And most of all: Speculations are fun ;-)
Always enjoy your videos! Why do you not display your invite code? Doesn't it grant some credit and bonus to new players? Isn't there a referral system?
Hey iChase, love your videos and commentary! I do however think that for the gunboat gameplay it would have been better served by showing any sub t8 soviet DD instead of the khab (Kiev probably being the best)...given their horrible detection range, short range torps, low gun arcs and fast reload they embody the gunboat more appropriately. The Khab, overall and tier for tier, is pretty darn close to the Farragut gameplay wise and may be seen as a bit OP. The replay you chose for the khab does indeed show it's gunboat abilities but the reactions the enemies take are most likely indicative of the ships torp strength, giving it more leeway than a full gunboat. Anyway, thanks for the video, great advice the entire time!
Actually 8km torp Shimakaze is the purest torp boat. The torp just loaded so fast and u can have them whenever u need. Talking about conselment, Shimakaze and Gearing enter into the cap and spot each other at the same time... Never never going in without support in high tier.
Great advice and examples of play style, thanks a bunch. 1 thing that puzzles me though, when you are Khaba and Tier X how come theres a Fubuki with you, i mean uptiers a biatch but T6 dd in a game with T10 dd,something went wrong. I play Fubuki and love it yet seems my uptiers are T8 max which is more than enough to test ya, given you are restricted by weapon range and modules its hard to play consistent against T8 dd with all the fruit. 1 other thing is solo/yolo into 1st cap usually mean 1/2 enemy team fire on you as the CV always hover the cap points. Like ya style though and keep up the tuts. chrs.
ok Chase, I like what you share when there's a relatively even number of DDs/CAs/BBs and there's room to play the role. I've just played three games in a row where I'm the lone DD, or one of two on my team, vs 4-5 CAs. I go in to cap/engage the enemy DD and get melted by the CAs. How do I adjust for that situation? Typically I've been playing gunboat & hybrid DDs.
i just have an issue.......a "torp boat" shimakaze has worse concealment than a "hybrid boat" fletcher........so...a shima attempting to spot a fletcher will be a highly unlikely mission, and mostly likely a suicide mission
except from my personal experience, pretty much every single shima's panic reaction after being spotted by my fletcher is to let their torps out, i dont recall any shima firing back at my fletcher lol(i dont have a shima myself)
Thank you chase ! What about the skills ? You already did a vid on them, but things changed a bit since... Could we have your point of view on it please ? Nice video, greettings from France !
Kiev is torpedo boat! I have scored soooooo many kills in with my torpedoes, even a double strike. They never expect it from a Russian so they don't turn or my torps are too fast for them. XD
I do wonder where the British DDs will fall on this spectrum. If they can fire one torpedo at a time like the British cruisers, that could lead to some devastating torpedo salvos in the right hands. :/
Thanks a lot. iChase. I also like to know the difference of all CA. CV. and BB. and graphics like hybrids gun. boat. assistant boat. and so on. thanks a lot. Love you bro.
The Fletcher and Gearing spectrum placement is backwards. Fletcher had better torpedo Alpha dmg, DPM, and less spotting distance with more than enough range were the gearing has better gun dpm while sacrificing torpedo power. Also, the shimakaze has better guns than the spectrum would show. Kagero would fit that bill.
At 16:00 in the video, if that were me, all the battleships would be firing on me and I would have been half hull or less before I fired a single torpedo. I guess I need to stop playing against the bots.
i would love to see book marks for you tube where you can click on a certain point on the video where you can start the video and maybe three different areas to skip to hopefully someone will start too see the beauty in this add on will back to learning how not to be a noob peace
Personally, I tend to go attack cruisers, other destroyers and aircraft carriers because they can be killed with 2 torpedo rounds. Battleships need 4-6
Hey there iChase! Remember me? (probably not, it's cool. Why would you? I'm just one of thousands who occasionaly comment on your videos.) Wicked helpfull video! I love it, especialy how you cover hybrids and gunboats! Most other guides only focus on using torpedoes effectivley with torpedo boats, not so much the hybrids... But one thing I'm still confused about is how to use the torpedoes on certin hybrids, my Blyskawica more specificaly. Since it's torps have that 8km range, my spotting range is 7.5, and the torps are rather slow, I find it very hard to get into the right situation to effectivley use them. I find they are easilly avoided, since they're so slow and so hard to drop and stay stealthed. How do I get the right kind of ambush situation? I find getting close enough in the Blys is a challenge due to it's bad turning and kinda large size, and that's not how I play it. Some advice, please?
Islands, islands, islands. Early-mid game get into positions to torp opponents coming around islands. Late game opponents likely anticipate your torpedoes and slow/turn blindly even if they don't detect you. Watch their movements, especially availability of radar, scout plane, etc and plan your approach. Instead of torping from stealth around the island, try to get ahead of them and sandwich them between you and the island, and drop one set. If they turn towards you or stop in the water, close in and put the second narrow set right between the aforeships and the citadel, then burn them once they fix the flooding. If they turn away from you, chances are high they will beach, then you can close the distance, triple torp them at close range and then ram them, which will kill even most BBs. Blyskawica is extremely good at ramming because you do 15k damage with a ram, confirmed flooding, sail/turn fast, etc. Don't try this against other torpedo-wielding ships though(other than IJN cruisers above Furutaka), since they can counter-torp you from the front.
I've always found it a bit annoying that gunboat DDs tend to have higher detectability than torpedo ships, even before you start considering the spike in detection from firing your guns. From a gameplay balance standpoint, it seemed to me that gunships should have lower base detection, to help offset (but not 100%) the spike in your detection when you light up the guns.
The result of doing that is that gunboats just zip around the map totally invisible spamming HE. See old Khabarovsk video in theory crafting and you'll see why it was so broken
Nice video! Teach me some systematic things about dds. And i have a question: I think japanese dds are not really good for capping, at least the first one rushing into a cap. Because if there is a russian dd or us dd in the cap or trying to head to the cap, the japanese dd is doomed. And japanese dds maybe end up sunk or running out of cap. Maybe japanese dds are better to support us or russian dds capping. And japanese dds are really good at capping after the middle game, especially at the end of the game.
Good video as DDs are definitely my weak point in the game. You emphasize capping as a priority, which works fine in Domination mode. What about Standard Battle mode?
Where is Smith the Tier 2 Destroyer from USA on the Destroyer Spectrum ? (It is a premium ship and can be obtained only trough new player invite codes)
AnY'one else looking forwards to the new best "Hybrid" DDs in the game coming soon, *The UK Light Cruiser line.* ^~^ (just wondering if they'll finally make single-torp dropping a thing for all ships?)
yeah, whenever I'm playing Fubuki, friendly BBs just did the least damage like that Tirpitz where actually BBs should do the most damage to the enemy team. And I just have to accept the defeat...lol
Great video and so I know that I'm doing all right in my Farragut. Can you please do a video about "How to Cruiser" ? I'm a very good player in my DDs and an average one in my cruisers(if you trust WOWS-numbers.com) which are all of course low tier with the Svietlana and Kuma as the highest tier for me, so I don't play cruisers so much and I really didn't like the Königsberg, the Budyonny and the Mogami whem when I was playing them on the test server. Would be very nice !
Sometimes I think a lot of people don't understand HOW much Exp you can make with capping points. I see DDs next to an open, undefended cap point so often and they just don't move in...specially low tier IJN DDs seem to do that.
What do you have to say, IChaze, about these changes to the japanese line, namely do you think its positive these changes, a slap in the face to the players who play torp DDs, or just meh, or just interesting?
I hate how WG changed the spotting range of torps a few updates ago making fletcher's torps MUCH better in trems of ninja sniping from long range. Fletcher's torps had like 8 sec of reaction before it hits the target while kagero's 20km had like 13+ sec. Hope WG somehow fix this because now IJN dds had a really hard time, constantly out-gunned but had the most attention on the battlefield =[ When I was in a fubuki and got radar-ed, EVERYTHING within 15 km starts flying towards me lol. Hope WG fix the torpedo balance in the new IJN dd line.
one of interesting trait of oxugen torpedoes coming out of using compressed oxygen as a fuel [hence the name] is that they have had nearly to none wake - they were basically undetectable until it was too late - and also that's one of a reasons why USN captains were doing evasive maneuvers as soon as they have seen IJN destroyer showing a bigger piece of broadside......
Step 1: get a destroyer with a 30 second torpedo reload time and it also has a top speed of 40 knots Step 2: Kill the enemy team and get all of the points while everyone else gets no points Step 3: be proud that everyone that is farming for a better ship gets no points so it takes them 3days to get a ship that would take1 day to get if you weren’t on the team.
Thank you. Your videos are incredibly in-depth and my play/survivability immediately got better. Damage has improved now that I take angle into account.

Yeah, good point, I'll do that next time :)
THIS is what proper and good feedback looks like. Pretty rare to see on UA-cam.
gunn0508 I know, right?
If everybody would play like you, we'd see completely different games. Probably a lot more fun.
I guess the problem is that everyone in a DD believe they are a Ninja that needs to try and sneak around - instead of paying attention :D
I wish that too...see Fubuki battle and where the BBs went >_< not fun for me at all
If everybody would play like that, DDs would get nerfed quickly! No, let's be happy to see some baaaad DDs sometimes. (in the ennemy team, it would be great! :P)
If every DD captain played like him, I wouldn't last a week in WoWS.
You should add annotation how DDs should deploy smoke:

Coming in the next video: How to Battleship.
1) don't hide in the A-B row, 2) shoot stuff, 3) wasd hack skills.
don't tunnel vision and pay some atention.
that applies to ALL classes though
1) dont hug borders, 2) dont stay 20km away from nearest enemy, 3) dont run to borders when the first enemy is spotted, 4) use WASD
and just because you have AP loaded, doesn't mean you can't make big holes in DD hulls. Also featuring how to target DD's with your secondary batteries, and make them question their life choices.
+Sam Polus This.

Excellent video man! Really helpful. You really go above and beyond when making your videos. Two thumbs up.
these videos are incredible. keep up the good work
Cheers :D and of course, more to come
s-senpai noticed me :D
Nice job on those tuts! They state everything that I was searching for :) I was able to improve quickly using them!
The Haida is a true gun boat she’s essentially an ultra-light cruiser
Could you do an updated version with the ships in the game now?
great vid man. learned a lot of info that I was unsure about. I learn something every time I watch one of your vids. keep up the great work
Pure Gunboat Destroyer.... *cough *cough Atlanta
Atlanta lacks destroyer's speed/stealth.
Then the Flint
Kutuzov is most definitely a gunboat DD as well. :DD
every soviet ships are fuckin broken
Harugumo lol

Great video! The core of this video is still relevant today; but is there an updated list of which destroyers land where on the DD Spectrum?
mate, the last week (or is it couple weeks?) you are on fire with the guides, you are restless xD
Yeah, updating this entire series to bring best possible information :)
I have my own little version of "How to destroyer," the tl'dr version of is....
get aft, get De, get a gunboat, kill everything with guns.
AFT on USN dds aint that good though.
Raz0rking Well, it is on the Clemson, which is the only US DD I play as a pure gunboat.
er, clem's actually got a decent amount of torps, 2 on each side.......perhaps next time try to slip between 2 enemy BBs and enjoy the double strike/70k dmg in under 10 seconds
how 'bout that BFT and last stand?
;D
aft is stupid on usn dds

Thanks for the explanation. It was, in fact, a burning question right outta the gate.
Good video. I think it is important with good in game examples as well as "powerpoint" style presentations
A question: I know you might can't answer but anyway are the British CA fire torpedoes 1 at a time
thanks
I don't have them but it appears that way
From the the footage I saw of them being played, it almost looks as if they made an entire tech tree of Khabarovsks :-/
Seems like Battleships in the future will be even more scared of HE spam, more hesitant to push in and play even more passive. Exactly what the Meta in this game does NOT need.
***** Oh, I am not angry. I am just expressing my worries.
There are only so many different ways / styles ships can be played in. All I have seen and read about those new cruisers points in a direction that I could not be less happy with... Just let me explain why I think so:
(Infos on citadel size and armor are directly from the armor viewer in game)
1. Huge citadels above the waterline mean they can't take AP hits from the side -> stay angled
2. very weak bow armor plating (16mm for T10) mean your bow armor is overmatched by any BB, including Scharnhorst. The citadel from the bow is pretty big + the citadel plate inside the ship is not sloped in any way + deck armor is very thin as well. So any BB should be able to citadel you right through the front and from almost any range -> stay angled against cruisers and stay far far away from BBs.
3. small caliber guns mean they have bad penetration and AP performance -> use HE
1+2+3 = You will have to stay far away from any BB and you will have to rely on HE -> You will be a passive, long range HE spamming machine.
Given that the cruisers (especially IJN) already can do HE spam very very well and are not nearly as vulnerable, the RN CLs seem pointless.
There are 2 things that could make them playable:
1. Smoke (which they have)
2. The abilty to stealth fire (which they might have as well, given their small guns)
Both these features depend on stealth.
Conclusion:
You will spam HE from long range (possibly stealth firing) or from smoke (certainly stealth firing)...
They are changing the RN cruisers wholesale apparently...
ok thanks
Friesland - the most extreme gunboat - no torpedos at all.
Great video that deserves an update.
YES, FINALLY A DESTROYER VIDEO
Yay :D yeah figured I should go over all the classes and talk about how they play
Like ya style though and keep up the tuts. chrs.
Once again, great informative video.
Ty man after watching this vids i able to dish 90-100k dmg as DD at mid tiers and lot of captures xD
Also another "Perfect Hybrid" might bring up, *The USN Clemson.* ^-
Hey! Love your stuff :D
Also want to ask if you can do a rewiev on the new Premium German cruiser that came out :)
Thanks! also for the new ship...do you like the Hipper, if yes, then buy premium version, if no, skip. Prinz is just Hipper clone
ok Chase, I like what you share when there's a relatively even number of DDs/CAs/BBs and there's room to play the role. I've just played three games in a row where I'm the lone DD, or one of two on my team, vs 4-5 CAs. I go in to cap/engage the enemy DD and get melted by the CAs. How do I adjust for that situation? Typically I've been playing gunboat & hybrid DDs.
I appreciate you read Shimaka*ze* correctly instead of reading as Shimakase like the rest of the western world does
Look at the spam that this Tirpitz is having, LOOK AT IT!
i just have an issue.......a "torp boat" shimakaze has worse concealment than a "hybrid boat" fletcher........so...a shima attempting to spot a fletcher will be a highly unlikely mission, and mostly likely a suicide mission
That is true, which is why you need gunboat support to back you up, and also use Shima guns, those things will still put a hurt on Fletchers
except from my personal experience, pretty much every single shima's panic reaction after being spotted by my fletcher is to let their torps out, i dont recall any shima firing back at my fletcher lol(i dont have a shima myself)
Thank you chase ! What about the skills ? You already did a vid on them, but things changed a bit since... Could we have your point of view on it please ? Nice video, greettings from France !
I find the timing for this video's release amusing. Just after Destroyer Week for Back to the Basics on the NA server.
Lol, hopefully nailed the fundamentals for DDs
Question, where's the v25 in the spectrum?
The Fletcher and Gearing spectrum placement is backwards. Fletcher had better torpedo Alpha dmg, DPM, and less spotting distance with more than enough range were the gearing has better gun dpm while sacrificing torpedo power. Also, the shimakaze has better guns than the spectrum would show. Kagero would fit that bill.
Where does the Kagero fit on the "Torpedo-Hybrid-Gunboat" chart?
Timely video for me. Thanks.
At 16:00 in the video, if that were me, all the battleships would be firing on me and I would have been half hull or less before I fired a single torpedo. I guess I need to stop playing against the bots.
So informative and educational!
Based on what your saying I'm assuming the Blyskawica is more of a gunboat hybrid......? Kinda Gremyashchy area ish?
i would love to see book marks for you tube where you can click on a certain point on the video where you can start the video and maybe three different areas to skip to hopefully someone will start too see the beauty in this add on will back to learning how not to be a noob peace
can i ask why do u use HE instead of armor penetration rounds so often?
Personally, I tend to go attack cruisers, other destroyers and aircraft carriers because they can be killed with 2 torpedo rounds. Battleships need 4-6
Very useful guide. Hybrid DD's kinda look my thing
Thanks, and the hybrids are fun :D do a bit of everything
Offensive smoke may help, but dont shoot ur torp target with guns first or u may alert him.
Is Vll Leningrad torpedo boat, hybrid or gunboat?
I feel since its such a hybrid in the current meta that the gearing is currently the strongest DD as its useful in any situation
They are all useful tbh, depends on the player
What would the blyscawica be considered?
Very well done video, thanks.
You're welcome :)
That was my assumed reason for why they did it that way.
honestly the gearing is just the best vs any 1v1 destroyer and its the best vs rest of the ships due to its flexibility
I'd say scouting and torpedo zoning for torpedo boats support of a fleet for gunboats and something in between for hybrids
Where is Smith the Tier 2 Destroyer from USA on the Destroyer Spectrum ? (It is a premium ship and can be obtained only trough new player invite codes)
AnY'one else looking forwards to the new best "Hybrid" DDs in the game coming soon,
*The UK Light Cruiser line.* ^~^
(just wondering if they'll finally make single-torp dropping a thing for all ships?)
yeah, whenever I'm playing Fubuki, friendly BBs just did the least damage like that Tirpitz where actually BBs should do the most damage to the enemy team.
I'll probably get around to cruisers soon too :)
Sometimes I think a lot of people don't understand HOW much Exp you can make with capping points. I see DDs next to an open, undefended cap point so often and they just don't move in...specially low tier IJN DDs seem to do that.
TheGerudan It's free 1000 exp. You can do no damage and cap and still have a decent match.
How much if any do the destroyer tactics change if you're playing a game that only has one capture point per side, like standard battles?
You can probably then skip point 1, and go from point 2 onwards
then you can skip all the "cap" part, all you focus on is damaging enemy
you said that there aren't ships that only use their main guns. well, now a lot of time has passed, we got Friesland of course ;)
What do you have to say, IChaze, about these changes to the japanese line, namely do you think its positive these changes, a slap in the face to the players who play torp DDs, or just meh, or just interesting?
It's going to be an interesting change, torpedo boats probably still very viable though
thanks for the guide. useful tips :)
You're very welcome :)
I hate how WG changed the spotting range of torps a few updates ago making fletcher's torps MUCH better in trems of ninja sniping from long range.
Fletcher's torps had like 8 sec of reaction before it hits the target while kagero's 20km had like 13+ sec. Hope WG somehow fix this because now IJN dds had a really hard time, constantly out-gunned but had the most attention on the battlefield =[
When I was in a fubuki and got radar-ed, EVERYTHING within 15 km starts flying towards me lol. Hope WG fix the torpedo balance in the new IJN dd line.
Type 93 oxygen torpedo "Long lance"
Looking big? Yes. Long range? Yes. High speed? yes. wake? yep. High explosive? Yes.
WG: "It's almost correct!"
The long lance doesn't have a wake
one of interesting trait of oxugen torpedoes coming out of using compressed oxygen as a fuel [hence the name] is that they have had nearly to none wake - they were basically undetectable until it was too late - and also that's one of a reasons why USN captains were doing evasive maneuvers as soon as they have seen IJN destroyer showing a bigger piece of broadside......
how do you manage to switch to the torpedo vision all the time?
On my controls its z but maybe its something different on your controls just press everybutton afer you use your torps 😉
In IJN dd's i fire guns almost as in USN's. I find it funny when i fire on a IJN dd and all they do is trop .
Gearing is more gun-based than Fletcher (and has lower torp damage per minute).
Try as a torpedo boat to shoot a wall of torps. Great idea, going to try it... Oh wait, I got a Mutsuki :(
Mutsuki can do it, only 6 torps but can still make a small wall
But I want to make the great wall of China, like a Shima ;)
I think you mean Great Wall of Japanese empire
Japan has the same wall as the UK does, the SEA!
I’m new to the game. Is it safe to assume that all Japanese Destroyers are all primarily torpedo boats?
No. The Japanese have two Destroyer trees. One focusses on torpedos the other one on Guns
Step 1: get a destroyer with a 30 second torpedo reload time and it also has a top speed of 40 knots
Step 2: Kill the enemy team and get all of the points while everyone else gets no points
Step 3: be proud that everyone that is farming for a better ship gets no points so it takes them 3days to get a ship that would take1 day to get if you weren’t on the team.
300m diference in concealment such an advantage
Are you going to review the Prinz Eugen?
Not much to review there...she's just a Hipper :P
iChaseGaming
I see.
I am really having fun in the soviet destroyers but I can't make these fraking japanese destroers work.
What crosshair is that? The one you use without horizontal line?
How do you change the torpedo you are seeing?
Z to follow torps, C to change camera
Thanks man :D keep doing this amazing videos
so u mean in high tiers all ships really can and will actually dodge every torpedo you release almost perfect execution?
What is the best teir IV skill for IJN DD?
Demo expert
IJN DD don't have much a use of guns until teir VII for the most part so is demo just for a fighting chance?
Do some thing like this for all ship classes
