Everyone is either buying Monos or Beis's carry-ons (Similar dimensions) these days, and I think $250+ USD for a carry-on is excessive for the same features I just bought in this Samsonite for $139 USD on Amazon. I have my first trip with it on Monday (Another reason to buy this and not have to wait weeks to get from the other two) and I am really looking forward to trying it out. I'll be flying Southwest on the way to and United on the way back, so it's a great chance to see how each of these airlines responds to its size. I'll pair this with an Aer Travel Sling 2 X-PAC that holds my laptop and charging devises to store under my seat.

I've been using this bag since Spring of 2018 and it's been all over the continental US, to Europe several times, never once had a problem with it AND it's always fit in overhead bin (even on a CRJ900) / never gotten flagged as oversized (on Delta.) Highly recommend.

@pack hacker reviews: This looks like the Samsonite Flux. Do you happen to know if the Flux models are the same as the Freeform models?

I have a question. The dimensions they provide are not clear. What they claim for the carry on is: PACKING Dimensions: 19.5" x 14.5" x 10.0", OVERALL Dimensions: 21.25" x 15.25" x 10.0", 6.5 lbs.
However many comments I see are that is it oversize for carry on. Is it that they leave the wheels off of the dimensions and it is over 22" tall? I want to be sure what I buy is 22" max. This seems good except I can't yet confirm the full height. Thanks!

Can you please use a tape measure to show us the exact dimensions? I’ve heard others say this bag is listed on the website as 21.5 x 14.5 x 9, but in reality it’s 23 x 15 x 10. That’s a significant increase. Thanks.

Thanks for this video. I hope this isn’t pushing the limits. I just bought it with the mindset that it was TSA approved for carry on. 🤞🏽 I have no issues.

Since you are using packing cubes those cubes need to be slighly larger than your internal case so you don't have that "lost" space. You can also re-orient your cubes to ensure complete use of the internal compartments. I have a similar but slightly smaller Samsonite case and I have never had any issue with it or the ability to quickly/seamless pack and unpack the case. Many of the cases on the market are just too gimicked and force you into their packing style. They also cost 2-3 times as much. Also, the expansion is great for doing an overall case compression. Give me a sturdy dependable simple case everytime. BTW, I have used the smaller but similar case on over 500 flights over the past 10 years so the cases are dependable.

I’ve been traveling with this bag for 4-5 yrs now, it’s the one that convinced me to switch to hard shell. It’s gone around the world with me, and never not fit in the overhead unless on a smaller commuter plane (I don’t use the expansion feature). The wheels are smooth and have endured miles of cobblestone streets. The zippers are smooth and never have failed me. It does have scratches from times I’ve decided to check it, yet I think it still looks good….just ‘experienced’. My old soft side was 8 lbs empty. This is approximately 6.5 lbs. Kind of a big deal for me when lifting into the overhead. I’ve been tempted by the popular high-end brands, but always come back to the fact that I love everything about this one, it works very well for me and is a beautiful color. Good ol’ Samsonite.

I have a Samsonite Freeform 24” suitcase. Great suitcase for a three-week long trip.

I’ve used this bag for the past 5 years, more than 70 national and international flights without any issues. It scratches easily when checked but it’s a cheap and resistant bag.

Has someone taken this carry on to Europe on Iberia, Italy Airways, Tap Portugal, etc without having to check it in?

TSA approved locks are just a liability outside of the US. No other countries require them - and the pass keys are widely available. This US requirement makes us all less secure.

For years I made sure I purchased carry-on bags that met the requirements but I am seeing more often passengers being forced to gate-check bags because the airlines (Delta, American, B.A.) don't want to go through the hassle of measuring/weighing bags resulting in overhead space not being available. The final straw was economy passengers placing their bags in your dedicated (paid for) business-class overhead space. Those who do this, I make a point of having your bag gate-checked - so stop being a space thief.
Sadly, I only carry on bags that will fit under my seat space should there be a problem. Two smaller bags will always work instead of a max-sized personal item. I made the mistake of being a nice guy and letting B.A. gate check my carry-on bag on final leg of flight into the Netherlands on a cold winter night. As fate would have it once I exited customs, I could not locate my bag and spent two hours chasing it down. Baggage areas are not secured/monitored so checked bag theft is on the rise. Checked bags - NEVER AGAIN!

Sadly, there are no longer security attendants in the luggage claim area who check your baggage checkin stub against the bag tag. Must be a cost cutting measure.

I have this suitcase, I‘ve used it as a carry-on when I flew to Japan with no issue, and on my way back I expanded it and checked it. I stress tested it by bashing it against the ledge of my front porch and it held up really well. I wouldn’t say it’s “uncrushable” like a metal suitcase usually is, but it’s light and durable for sure.
