Making A New Upper Partial Denture (I Ain't Payin 2 Grand For Teeth!!)

- PLAESE READ BELOW TO SEE WHAT I USED TO MAKE THESE:
When I did this video it was just kind of a snap decision to make it. There are tons of videos on UA-cam showing how its done, thats where I learned to do it. Just search "Make your own dentures" and a bunch of stuff should pop up. This is what I used, its available on eBay. Dental Cold Cure Acrylic & Monomer, impression material is called Plastigen, Impression Plates, Plaster, acrylic teeth, tools, Duct Tape & practice. Hope this helps.
OK all, some time back I had some 2 x 4's in the back of my truck, and like a nit wit I walked face first into them and knocked one of my front teeth loose. Anyway it has been loose, but OK for quite a while now, but naturally now that there is pretty much no way to get a dental appointment to get a tooth pulled it has been hurting pretty bad, so once again I had to pull it myself. This means I had to make a new upper plate. I though you all might like to see the process. NOTE: I am not a dentist or a technician, but I'm also not in a position to pay a couple grand to have a set of teeth made, there for I have learned to make my own. I figured if I could facet a gemstone and make a piece of jewelry, I should be able to make teeth! Hope you all enjoy the video!

Nice job, Too bad your fingers were in the way and you didn't explain a FRIGGIN THING! Wasted 1/2 hour.
TO BAD YOU DIDN'T READ THE DISCRIPTION WHERE IT SAYS THAT THIS WAS NOT AN INSTUCTIONAL VIDEO, BUT RATHER A VIDEO TO SHOW THAT IT CAN BE DONE, ALSO TO BAD YOU WASTED ANOTHER 30 SECONDS OF YOUR VALUEABLE TIME TO TYPE THAT FRIGGIN COMMENT! But, thank you for the view anyway.
@@BackyardScrapping some people.....
that was a great response. Plus, I found this very interesting, great video! 👍
@@Luke1959 Thanks!!
I have been a Dental Laboratory Technician for 25 years. I'm pretty impressed that you did this all on your own. Takes years to learn these skills.
I am a gold smith, silver smith; and a lapidary and am very familiar with lost wax casting, sand casting, etc. I figured if I can work molten metal, I should be able to work acrylic. I always found if take the time to do the mold correctly, everything else should fall in place. Thanks for watching!
@@BackyardScrapping you are exactly right! The mold is the most important part 💌
@@marysellers2806 👍😁
@@marysellers2806 I made a complete denture set for my grandma. I’m just a regular dude. I watched UA-cam videos and executed! I’m thinking I wana go into dental in some form. Would you be available to speak to me Mary?
@@Rob_2002_NCAA_Champion absolutely 😊
There's something very tranquil about watching you work on those. Thank you for making this video. I did just pay 2g's for my 1st set and then my dentist said, "I'll need a new pair every couple years", so here I am! I can tell by ur tooling that ur no fool, hopefully I can figure this process out. Thanx again. 👍 from this guy.
There are, or at least were several videos on this subject here on youtube that can help, as long as the "Dentists" haven't pressured them to take them down, which would not surprise me at all.
I watched the whole thing and picked up some good tips. I made my own too. I'm a Veteran. They sent me to a dentist for dental work. She started the work and made a partial. When I tell you that partial was a disaster, I tell you no lie. I'm vain, so I got online and pride made me learn how to craft a denture that looks 10 times better than what she made. They've sent me to a prosthodontist and he's going to do the rest of the work, but I enjoy doing this. I'm in the process of getting dental implants.
I wish I could get implants, even though I made my own, I still hate having to wear them!!
Just got back from Wal -Mart. Robin called and ordered on line and we just picked it up. I am watching the rest of the video now. Mortimer's teeth are down to the bone so now that he knows more of your talents he may be hitting you up for some work that needs to be done. You wont have to use any anesthesia because he doesn't feel much pain. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
LOL tell him I will do my best to take care of him. Good idea doing the pickup thing, I went Sunday to do our shopping, was a very strange feeling in the air, got enough to hold us over for a month or so. We have to take my Dad out for 2 appointments over the next week and I'm not to happy about that, but no choice he has to go, after that we are going to do our best to just stay home. You and Robin take care!!
Just u wait until you also are the ambulance service. Get seat warmers now! Btdt. Cuz thats what we do. Theres a job? Hmmm..I can do it! Just had an ortho appt..he says..you have alot of arthritis for someone your age…i said.. cuz I was the doer. Does there need to be something done? Imadoit. 😂
You're definitely an artist! A lot of people get impatient and overlook the super fine details that only an artist will notice. Awesome endeavor!
Thanks so much, I do my best to try and get things right the first time, a trait I picked up from my Dad, He always said doing it right the first time may take a little more time, but having to do it again takes twice the time!!
...and the sad part about that is, it's the people who work in that field.
One more thing. There is no narration in this fantastic video, but at least for myself I found that playing my own songs to it made it even more satisfying. I recommend "A Country Boy Can Survive' by Hank Jr. and 'Simple Man' by Skynyrd.
Love these types of videos! You're a rare man these days sir. Respect
I'm sorry this video was not one of my better planned out videos, lol in fact it was really kind of just a record for my self, I wasn't even going to post it, but my wife said that she thought my viewers might enjoy something a little different from me. So I did a quick edit job and posted it.
I have to agree a little Skynyrd would have been nice!

using duct tape to make dentures is proof that duct tape is truly versatile! my dad always said that duct tape can be used for anything and now I truly believe that! :)

I watched it all as I was admiring your mission in progress. Enjoyed the video my friend!
Thanks Rob glad you like it!!
Your one great man with patience and skills to produce such an amazing piece that normally cost so much , when it shouldn't while sitting at the dentist office. This is unbelievable fascinating work. Love your talent and patience
Thanks so much, necessity is the mother of invention, and when you don't have the money you have to figure things out on your own. I figured if someone else can do it, so can I. Thanks for watching!!
Absolutely
Wow. This is supremely awesome. Nice work! Ever since my husband bought me a bunch of tools for Christmas a couple years ago I’ve become somewhat obsessed with building and/or fixing things myself. It’s been an interesting process. What materials did you use? Particularly the impression material and the acrylic? Is it like the same kind of acrylic they use in the salon when I get my nails done? Anyway, loved your video - made me feel like I can make almost anything.
No it is dental cold cure acrylic, nail salon acrylic is actually designed to break under pressure, so not really good for teeth. The impression material is called plastigen. I got everything on ebay. If I can do it so can you, it just takes a little patience. 😁
Love your desk and style! Great 😀
Thanks so much!!
lost my two front teeth recently, With how slow and expensive my dentist is Im about considering using this as a tutorial. Nice work man
They have some pretty easy to use kits on the net lately that were not available when I made mine. I guess many are tired of how overpriced things are getting. I understand the training and time they put in, but don't we all have to put time in. I remember not so long ago going to the local dentist on my lunch break one day. I was at work, had a killer toothache, called him on the phone, walked over to his office, went right in, got a shot had the tooth pulled, paid him $25 and went back to work. Now its appointment after appointment, x-rays, pills, more office visits and on and on & every single time its pay pay pay! The last tooth I had a dentist pull, by the time it was all said and done was $300, & it took for ever for me to get in!!! Here's the real kicker, they wanted to charge me another $300 to replace that tooth on my plate! I said I made the whole thing for less then $3 and you want $300 just to acrylic in a single tooth! No Thankyou, I'll do it myself.
@@BackyardScrapping update, I made mine, used the same tape mold that you did. after some grinding from a drill sander it fits like a glove, the look of it just fills me with confidence.

Cool you make Dentures to. I paid $1300 for full top and bottom about 7 years ago. Another guy gave me a price of 2500. Quite the price difference it paid to shop around . LOl

wow i just saw this video and i must say my hat off to you i"m really impressed and i"m going to try it myself thank you for sharing this.
Best of luck I hope it works out well for you, I see more and more people doing it them selves, maybe if enough start doing it they will get off the ridiculous prices they are charging!!
i like what you have done here have made my own partials also. The state of my teeth is bout the same as yours. Just a few differences, i make mine to fit and just use Fixodent (no wire) , i also thin out my denture just slightly after the acrylic cures and soft line it to fill the gap. also i make the teeth ( i don't remember if you did it like i do ) i shape the acrylic with a Dremel tool for the teeth . i do the back ones the lazy way i just form a long hump that i flatten out and cut grooves into to form the teeth in the back there is no need for individual teeth so its fine. also i use the same color ( in my case a3.5 or a4 acrylic coloring ) for the gums and all.. my smile only partially shows my teeth so i can get away with that . i sand with 2500 grit then 3000 grit then finish with 5000 grit sandpaper.. works pretty good. when i do a full denture in the future i will buy the teeth and buy gum colored acrylic -- more professional. one last thing i knew what you were doing because i have done it before, but someone else may not have been able to follow , video would have been better if you would have held the mockup up the the camera from time to time... good job btw..
There is much I didn't show in this video because I had not really planned on posting it when I made it, it was more or less just something for me. But after seeing so much interest about it here on youtube I thought I would post it just to show others that if I could do it, they could do it. It was really not posted as an instructional video. Thanks for watching 😁
If you don't mind,..could you tell me your source for things like gum colored acrylic and the teeth themselves?
Good work dude!
Thanks!!
Someday I'll remember to remember thought about it this morning thought it to early lol. Great video it was cool watching you make em!
Thanks so much!!
What's the stuff in the brown bottle that you're mixing up in a little green dish and did you fit this down over your own teeth
I know this is from a while back, but I just got the notification!! For the life of me I can't figure out why I am just now being notified about a comment made six months ago! Anyway its called monomer, I think this is the right spelling.
Can you reply to say WHAT was the INITIAL POWDER you used to make the PLATE IMPRESSION. Was it ALGINATE POWDER? Video was a TREMENDOUS HELP!
Awesome. What gum resin are you using? Definitely needs narrative and quantities etcetera. If you're playing the music🎶... That's awesome😊👏👍 too!
Didn't really intend for it to be an instructional video, I just set up the camera while I was doing it, and decided to post it to show others that they can do it. In the description there is info on what I used, also many of the comments have some good info. I think as with anything, if you put your mind to it, with a little practice most anyone can do it. They keep us in mystery and fear about how many things are done so they can charge outrageous prices, but this goes with most things today, electrician's, plumbers, machinic, etc..
This a good gift to be able to make teeth
lol pretty much had no choice if I wanted them, for sure didn't have the money laying around to pay what they wanted!!
I can’t even get a dental appointment. 3 months ago I was referred to the hospital to have all my teeth removed then wait till all healed now the place won’t see me says Iv got to be put on the waiting list for 12 months. Or I can pay private and see them next week if I get anyone Iv still got to pay the 3rd band coz I work But told 8 weeks too at a new place.
I’m going to make my own
Don't blame you!!! I think most, (not all) but most are just full of $h!t today!! If your tooth hurts TODAY what friggin good is an appointment a month from now, they are in it for the money and thats the sad truth of it!!!!
That was actually fascinating. The money you saved could buy you a alot of gold. Heck you could have added gold teeth to that. Wishing you all the best and thanks for sharing. Take care.
Thanks Brother, I have thought about making a gold set, just don't have enough gold LOL, but would be cool to do just for fun if I did 😁😁😁
Duck tape fixes every thing . I got a couple of upper plates lacking few gold teeth you could have around here some where.Just paid 375 for just a crown. You can do the with teeth gold skull and cross bones
Dental gold is pretty easy to work with, most is 16 to 18 K and can be refined to pure or alloyed further down.
Dude the tape is duct tape.
one of the first things that caught my eye was the likeminded attitude! when, I I read your remark" I ain't payin 2 Grand for dentures, I was Like, he just mirrored my thoughts to the letter!. That's exactly whati told my mom back in around 2006 when I asked what her new set of dentures cost her and she answered me back with the answered me back, 2 grand. And I said, "I ain't payin 2 grand, I'll make my own first! And that is precisely what i plan to do. Thanks for sharing your nicely done by video. I liked your music and your style. Good work!!!
Thanks so much, I wish you the best of luck, I have always believed what one can do another can do, its just a matter of trying. If you don't get it right the 1st time then do it until you do 😁
I paid total $7000. I will say I'm grateful to have my dentures but they are not like my real teeth. Even my face shape is off now. The Dentist was an a$$.
You differently amaze me with your talents. Great video. Have to eat dinner and will resume the video after. Be safe.

Hi, I’m hoping my comment finds you. First of all I’m really impressed with your attention to detail and like you I have done hours and hours of research. I’ve been looking for a liquid separator but they are quite expensive, can you please tell me if you found the Vaseline worked well for you and did you add anything else to it? Some videos explain that using white spirits with Vaseline can work well but I’m unsure if I’d need that as it will just add to the cost. I’ve bought everything else so far. Just need to find a useable separator.
Thank you in advance :)
I used Vaseline, but I should have gunked it up even more, or let it soak in a bit longer as I did pull some plaster off when removing my base plate. Don't know if you are going to do cold or hot method, if your doing cold, I think the Vaseline will be OK, if you're doing hot casting I think you will need the separator. I'm no expert, so I would do as much research as possible, also be prepared to goof up a time or two, takes a little practice to get things right. Best of luck, I hope things work well for you!!
@@BackyardScrapping that’s a great help thank you ! I will be doing self cure acrylic as I didn’t want to spend too much in case it didn’t work out. I’ll definitely try the Vaseline though as I can’t find a liquid separator here in the UK without being a registered dentist 😬
@@cheyennecallow3624 Try ebay, that is where I got most of my supplies, kinda the same problem here with some stuff.
Great job sir. I’m sure dentist use the same material that you used at about the same cost and then charge those unbelievable prices. Talk about price gouging!!! They should be ashamed of themselves !!!
I agree, sad thing is for the most part they don't make um anymore, techs make um. I know a guy who is a tech, he gets paid $200 to $300 for making a set of teeth, which I think is fare price for the skill and time it takes to do it. Then it gets jacked up about 10 times from there. I'm not saying that "ALL" dentists rip people off, but now days, as with most things they are just in it for the money, same with doctors, there are a few good ones left, but most just want the money. I remember not that long ago when it was $25 to $40 to have a tooth pulled, and it was one (1) trip, now you have to have x-rays, take pills for a week while your in agony, go back a second time, and then they just might pull the tooth for $250 plus the 2 office visits x-rays and pill cost!! By the time its all said and done ya got about five hundred bucks in having a frigging tooth pulled, and thats just NUTS!
I wish you would have listed the materials you were using in the video. One like what was the material you were mixing up to make the impression?
When I did this video it was just kind of a snap decision to make it. There are tons of videos on UA-cam showing how its done, thats where I learned to do it. Just search "Make your own dentures" and a bunch of stuff should pop up.
do you work in the dental field? it is so cool how you made these. i'm trying to learn so that i can make my own.

LOL I think makin out of wood, would take a lot longer 😁😁😁🦷🦷🦷
Was that plaster of paris he was using? Wth! I made my friend upper dentures out of finger nail acrylic and teeth I ordered from Wish! I felt sorry for him because he was real self conscious about it.And he had no money! When I got them done I used sylicone re-liner I got from amazon so they would be a tight comfortable fit. That guy was so proud of those teeth! He was like a different person! He got a good job and everything! I have to say they looked real good! But! It took me about 3 weeks to do it!!! Lol! Working pretty consistantly at it! With a dremel! But it was worth it! He sent me selfies of him smiling, smiling in the mirror, smiling in his drivers license picture!!!Lol!
Cool, that was very nice of you, but be carful, it is only legal to make them for your self. Also tell him to be carful with them, nail acrylics are different from dental acrylics, they crack or break much easier. It is actually designed to break under to much stress this is so they won't tare your real fingernail off if to much pressure is applied. Another thing, I'm not sure of the actual legalities of it, it may only be illegal if you charge to make them, just not sure, it may be OK to do it for free. I guess soon we will have to buy permits to break wind !! 🌀
U can tell he's got lab experience , if 2 slow he's got bag full of impression material , where 2 get?????
Nope not a lab tech, and have never been one. Any other questions about where and how is in the video description.
I used to clown my dad for wearing his magnifying glasses now i use the very same one. He used to carve ducks
LOL 😁😁
Awesome BYS!!! Now, ill take some silver ones. 😂😂😂
LOL everyone wants me to make gold or silver ones, guess I will have to give it a try for fun one day. Don't know if the gold or silver will fuse to the acrylic or not, will have to try experimenting one day. It will have to be silver though, could never afford to make um out of gold!
@@BackyardScrapping it would be cool to see. Lol
@@BackyardScrapping mechanical bonding is the only way, acrylic only sticks to porous materials like plaster or itself(roughened up, not polished). We sometimes sandblast and acid etch metals to help with bonding but it’s never permanent. Easiest way to make a metal tooth, hollow out one of those acrylic ones you got, add a few retention beads or loops on the inside, and cast it up, it burns out pretty easy, very smelly though!
@@airwolfie100 Kinda figured that would have to be the way to do it, maybe one day if I ever get some spare time I will give it a try, would make a cool video if nothing else 😁
What do you. do if you don't have teeth?
I assume you are referring to not having teeth to attach the plate to?? If you have no teeth they you have to make the entire plate.
Dino my friend, you are something else! I processed bout 30 switches watching that. Great vid.
Thanks my friend, started the vid with your stuff, doin the HCL method and as expected its going SSSlllooowww LOL. Today is 1 week in acid, so I will add a bit to the vid today and show how far along they have come, but think these are probably gonna take at least 2 or 3 more weeks. Have a good one and stay safe!!
I remember when they taught this in prison through the 1970's and 80's
LOL I didn't learn it there 😅🤣😂
I'd certainly pay 2 grand for an expert to do this for me.
Rob... if you lived in Australia my friend, $2000 just not going to happen , double that and more for teeth and takes months to get them after all there work on your other teeth before they begin to look at getting your false teeth.
Its your money, spend it as you want, $2000 for $2 worth of material, if you can afford it, God Bless, but there are many out there that can not.
Great job you did. I am looking to try the same thing. Only thing is i cant find the stuff that you are calling plastigen.
Also do you use the same thing for inpressions. As well as the plate that holds the teeth. The part that fits onto the roof of your mouth?
You should be able to get the plastigen on eBay, unless the dental community has raised some much hell because selling is cutting into their massive profits. I got a bag about a year & a half ago, so I haven't look for any lately. Most dentist are rich, and eBay is rich, I would not doubt it at all if they get in cahoots with each other, neither give a rats ass about us! You use the plastigen to make a mold of you mouth, then when it sets, you pour either plaster or die stone in it, when that sets up you remove it from the plastigen, and that is the model of the inside of your mouth, which is what your make your plate with. I'm not a tech, & I don't know all their technical terms, so I hope this helped to explain the process.
Yeah it looks as if they have taken it down. So the other question is after you have taken the impression and made the mold of the inside of your mouth. What is the pink powder you use and the brown bottle with liquid. To hold the teeth in place and to make the plate that holds the teeth?
Thank you so much for your response
The pink powder is the acrylic, the brown bottle is, if I remember right, is monomer, don't know if I spelled that right. Anyway you mix them together and it forms into the solid pink base. I used "cold acrylic" it sets fast so you have to work fast. There are some videos here on YT that show the whole process, but yoa have to look hard for the good ones. Hope this helps.@@robertnelson490
and how to cure it so it will not break when you eat on it,show us how to cure it please
I used "Cold Cure Acrylic" no curing unless you count warm water.
They sell curing lamps for acrylic nails on all kinds of sites And I think its just a uvb lamp inside. You could put a mirror under the lamp and maybe that would work.
This is how the pros do it !!u can see but can't get (material , tech.),
Materials are available on ebay, I got everything you saw in the video there except the plaster.
Well done you ! 🥰
Thanks!! 😁
Amazing!🤗
Thanks so much
Omg this is a Godsend. Thank you so much for sharing this! I am going to have to try this. One question, in your description you list "acrylic teeth," as part of your supplies, but it looked like you actually made the teeth out of the acrylic material yourself. Do you create some of the teeth yourself and use pre-made acrylic teeth as well, or do you list the teeth as an alternative to creating them yourself? Just curious as I am interested in making something more like a flipper to go over my existing front teeth (what's left of them anyways) , and for this purpose premade teeth would be rather bulky. I am hoping it will be possible for me to fashion thinner, veener like teeth using the acrylic. Hopefully that makes sense. Lol. Anyways, thanks a million!
I used premade teeth. I think what you are wanting to make is called a veneers, and i think you can get them premade, or already connected together but I'm not positive. I'm sure you can research them on the net. Best of luck, I hope you are able to find what you need!!

Wish i could do these i have no teeth and lost my mom may 31st 2023 and got no money to pay for any 😢all i want is to smile for her funeral n can't even do that
Sorry to hear about your mom, & don't cut yourself short, I didn't think I could do this until I tried.
Can you do a how to ? Or list of materials you used ?
When I did this video it was just kind of a snap decision to make it. There are tons of videos on UA-cam showing how its done, thats where I learned to do it. Just search "Make your own dentures" and a bunch of stuff should pop up. This is what I used, its available on eBay. Dental Cold Cure Acrylic, impression material is called Plastigen, Impression Plates, Plaster, acrylic teeth, tools, & practice. Hope this helps.
@@BackyardScrapping n
How much you charge me for full denture.
Sorry, not legal for me to do, you are allowed to make them for yourself but not anyone else unless you are a licensed tech which I am not. 😐
where did you get all the supplies from?
Please see the description of the video, I have put what I used there, Thanks!
I see you use plaster of paris and vasaline. What was the white bag at the beginning ?.And what was the brown bottle and white bottle in the middle of the vid ?. And what kind of teeth ?. And could you eat and drink with them ?.So many questions.
I believe the 1st bag was the impression material. The brown bottle is monomer the other white bottle is acrylic powder, the teeth were acrylic, and yes I can eat and drink with them.
WOW AWESOME...can you let us know how they held up so far?
They have held up great, I did make another set because I had to remove a few more of my teeth. I will say that I made the second set a bit thicker, the only problem I had was I dropped one of them and it hit right on the clip wire and cracked it. I was able to repair it pretty easy, but making the second set heavier seemed to solve that problem.
@@BackyardScrapping so impressive and we all need to see what we can do for ourselves ...thank you for being so innovative and such an example to all. Dental care is the most overcharged /expensive health options there are...what cost pennies we are charged hundreds to thousands for. And instead of complaining ..you just did something about that.
@@marianl3447 LOL if I wanted front teeth I had no choice, just could not afford to have them made. Thanks so much for the nice complement!!
make mine..lmean man your the greatest!!atl ga...
Wish I could, to bad its only legal to make your own 😒
hallo. Can you tell me which stuff have do you used ? Which resin pink do you use? Ty!! Sorry for my language I'm italian
This is what I used, its available on eBay. Dental Cold Cure Acrylic, impression material is called Plastigen, Impression Plates, Plaster, acrylic teeth, tools, & practice. Hope this helps
$2200 thats costs $10 bucks in materials to make is such a kick in the teeth
LOL aint that the truth, I see more and more people making their own, may the pros will get the hint and get their prices in line with reality!
Love the title (I ain't paying 2 grand for teeth either , the extractions alone are gonna cost that much )
LOL that's why I have also pulled a dozen of my own teeth. I remember back in the day if you needed a tooth pulled, you called the dentist, usually went in that same day or the next, sat in the chair, got a shot, got the tooth pulled, handed them $25 or so & went back to work. NOW its a big BULL$H&T ordeal, x-rays, couple office visits, the speal of "OH I can save this tooth for $1500 or $2000 and so on. WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAAAAAAPPPP!!
@@BackyardScrapping oh man that requires some serious guts to do , I never have pulled any of my own but I watched my mom pull one of hers one time
I went to Affordable Dentures and had a set made those are the worst fitting dentures I have ever felt in my mouth they wouldn't adjust them properly they wouldn't do anything they just shoved them in there and sent me out the door I'm making my own lower now so scared of this I'm not
your 1st set probably wont be any worse then theirs, just practice and remember, you can do it!!
well done.
Thanks!!
As a Dentist, I can tell you that there is more to making a denture than just setting teeth in acrylic. I spent countless hours learning the basics, setting multiple sets of teeth, processing dentures and adjusting them. Then spent years to get good at it. Sore spots happen and you have to know how to adjust them. And you might not even be able to use them to chew. Kudos to you, though. There may be a place for you in a dental lab, with the right training.
Thanks for the complement, guess I'm just lucky, as I have made 2 sets now, and replaced teeth that have been removed since the fist set with no problems. Haven't had any sore spots, and they have functioned well. I did learn from the first set to make them a bit thicker, the reason for the second set was to do that. I actually dropped the bottom plate from the first set, it must have hit perfectly on the clip wire and broke. I was able to fix it and beef it up a bit, but just went ahead and made a new set ( heavier ) anyway no problems with either. I understand that training or at least understanding the process is a must, but just like making jewelry as I have done for decades, a good mold gives you a good product. If I were younger and knew what I know now I might pursue a job in the dental field, I probably would have made a better living!
People think there is big money to be maid in the jewelry business, but thats not really the case. Thanks again for you comment.
I am speechless to your work and the meticulously crafted work of art. I have been praying for a miracle of restoring my smile back, but with the hardships of Covid 19 life I am unable to pay for dental work in the thousands of dollars. I have to ask if you can offer any help for which I would be more than willing to pay. Thank you and God Speed
Unfortunately it is not legal to make these for any but yourself if you are not a licensed tech or a dentist, this way they get to keep robbing everybody!!!!
Thank you for your honesty and kindness for just taking the time to reply; most people would not bother. God Speed 🙏
Bro! Pulling teeth and making dentures? You a dentist now…🤗
LOL we do what we have to, right 😄
How much does it cost?
It cost me about $200 for everything I needed, supplies, tools, etc.. What I used of that was only about $3 to $5 worth of supplies. For what I bought I have enough to make many plates.
how do you know which is the correct teeth to buy ?? Thank you so much
That the hard part, I just compared mine to pic's on the net and got as close as possible. There are size, style, and color charts available, but some of them are pretty costly as well. I just did a best guess.
All of the major teeth manufacturers (Dentsply-Sirona, Vita, Kenson, Meyerson, to name a few) have their teeth mould charts online.
@@redwood2811 Thanks!
Great job. Where did you get the wire?. Gauge etc ?...
I think it was 20, got it on ebay
@@BackyardScrapping - I watched a lot of video's on this stuff. I found one where the teacher used 18ga for the clasp's. Took me hours to bend them for a lower partial. Just need to set the teeth. That will be tricky. Had to get a cheap articulator.
@@hardkrome5050 I got a set of curve wire bending plyers on ebay pretty inexpensive if I remember. Saved me alot of time and sore fingers. Think they are called Arch Wire Bending Three Prong Plier
@@BackyardScrapping _ I will get a set of those if I have to do this again. I found all the shady work that dentist did and corrected it. That little articulator worked great for setting the teeth. The partial came out fantastic. Thanks for making the video.
@@hardkrome5050 You're welcome!! 😁
Great work mate, well done, I’d love to buy a kit , I recon I could do this, very expensive for a dentist , you did a great job .
Thanks so much, I listed what I used in the description area if you're interested. I always say, what one can do, another can do 😁😜
Your very talented, but, for the next time, I would try going on Etsy and getting yourself a DIY kit for making your own dentures/ partials
Thanks so much! I have looked at many of the kits, you have to read the fine print. A lot of these kits are cosmetic only, you cannot use them for eating. Even some of the ones that don't say it are actually cosmetic only use. If they use the "Hot Water" method for forming and attaching the tooth set they are not strong enough to use for eating. I will give the kits a plus for being pretty easy to use, but I think they should be a little clearer about utility. Don't get me wrong they are still great, and the price is VERY affordable, definitely worth it, even if just to bring back someone's smile 😁😁😁🦷
@@BackyardScrapping oh wow I didn't know they were only cosmetic use, 5hats good to know, because now I will ask before buying, I actually had my real denture break in half, and I 3nd3d up fixing it myself with acrygel, and a sheet of thin silk ( the stuff they use in nail salons, that has to be cured under a uvlight, and surprisingly they are stronger than originally, lol
@@AtomicBalmbathnbody Glad you were able to fix um. I think they just do their best to keep this denture making a secret so they can continue to charge outrageous prices for them, but I think the public is starting to catch on to their "BULL" 😱
@@BackyardScrapping I think I agree with you, its bad 3nough things like basic dental are not covered, and then they charge thousands of dollars to get dentures or things done, you need, its a no wonder so many ppl don't go to the dentist, for the amount of work I need, I'd end up homeless it costs so much lol
@@AtomicBalmbathnbody Crazy as this sounds, and it for sure wasn't fun, I have pulled 11 of my own teeth, and made my own partials. The cost for this at my local dental office would have been over $6000
I have no insurance and before covid shut my work place down I was making $10 an hour. There is NO WAY I could have paid that, simply NO Way!!
Not gunna lie thats cool
Thanks Brother!
how many days did it take to make these?
I didn't really keep track, I would say I worked on them a few hours a day for a few days.
@@BackyardScrapping thank You
@@CraftyMomof12 You are very welcome, again best of luck, you can do it even if it takes a couple try's!!
I can only guess what you're doing...
I know this is from a while back, but I just got the notification!! For the life of me I can't figure out why I am just now being notified about a comment made 3 months ago!
I made this video more to show that it can be done, not as an instructional video. There are a ton of instructional videos about this here on UA-cam.
music is lil loud but still great video
thanks
There is an easier method I am going to try as soon as the Post Office decides to get it to me. It has taken them over a week to ship it priority mail. I got this kit on Etsy. Check it out here.www.etsy.com/listing/897474389/diy-false-teeth-partialfull-denture?ref=shop_home_active_12&pro=1&frs=1 see video how it is done. it still takes time but not as much as this. ..
Just be careful, some of these are just cosmetic, not functional, you can't eat with them.
I couldn't agree with you more !!! It's so ridiculous.
Terrible what they charge, and the shame of it is, the people who actually do the work only make about 10% of what you are charged!
Make me 2 front teef pleath.
LOL wish I could 😁😜
Nice job for an amateur
Thanks, it took a couple try's to get the hang of it, but it can be done!
You mean 2k for dentures. Yeah that is obserd. I mean they are just acryllic as well, nothing special
That's for sure, they need to get real, what they do is not magic, & charging people 1000 times the material invested is more then crazy, its just a RIP OFF. They better watch out, people are wising up! they are going to price them selves right out of business!!! Same BS with pulling teeth, I remember not so long ago walking into the dentist office " No Appointment " sitting in the chair, him pulling a tooth, me handing him $25 and going back to work. NOW its a major ordeal, 2 weeks to a month to get in, IF YOU'RE LUCKY! Then comes the exam, x-rays, a weeks worth of antibiotics, and a second office visit to " MAYBE " get the tooth pulled, and pay pay pay and wait wait wait !!! Then if they do decide to pull the tooth its $250 or $300 to do it. I don't recommend this to anyone, but I have pulled 12 ( Twelve ) of my own teeth. Yes you have to be VERY careful, and it hurts like hell, but I have had NO infection or problems after the fact. What they do today is rip off people, and that's it, plain and simple!! Thanks for watching and commenting.
It realy is sad. The nasty part is they force the "priveleged" to have to charge because of their education, now thats sad. They dont but have to. I just hope that we dont quit. There is so much too.
You have done this before
I don't remember if this was my 1st or second time, but either way its not my job, or something I normally do.
