Hi Rory. You have produced another amazing video and going by the comments I am sure it will be very popular and your subs should increase dramatically. I remember a period in 1970's when the original Ghan train would sometimes be stranded for days when the track would suddenly flood due to heavy rain. I also remember news reports showing food and supplies being airlifted to the train. They were exciting trips with some passengers travelling during the wet season and hoping for an extended stay on the train. The new Ghan route was built to remedy this problem much to the disappointment of the more adventurous train enthusiasts. I hope you will include other steam journeys in the future such as Puffing Billy in Victoria and those recommended in the comments by your many fans. I, as always am looking forward to your next adventure regardless of the mode of travel. See you in your next video Rory.

Train, Flights, Accommodation love them all Rory this brought back childhood memories myself as we visited the Pichi Richi Railway in 1980 on a family road trip across Australia, l haven't seen the Flinders Rangers or the PRR since and the scenery never ever gets old. That Cornish pasties looked so good and filled with potatoes exactly as it should be. Thanks for sharing, hope you are doing OK.👍

I went on the Pichi Richi with my family back in the 1990s when trains only ran from Quorn to Woolshed Flat. The track rehabilitation between Woolshed Flat and Stirling North was completed in 1999 and the extension to Port Augusta opened in 2001. Would be good to travel the whole length now it’s operating. 😎

Hubby and I were part of the crew that was on the Old Ghan when it met the New Ghan and they travelled side by side into Port Augusta station. That was in 2001. Hubby was on the fire car and I was in 'Light' which was the refreshment car. I also spent hours on the NM 25 making her shine so bright for the day. I didn't put the flags or branches on her but she sparkled in the sun. It was an amazing experience.

Fancy going to Quorn to get a Quornish pastie !😋 LoL 😂
The tender that hauled the carriages was a beauty !
    A very sleek design indeed.
The carriages are well restored although I think there would be some who would get a bit of a crock in their necks !
I think I prefer seating that goes across a train , better for viewing the countryside.
Hey Rory, if you are ever in Castlemaine , Victoria, there is a lovely steam train run by the Victorian Goldfields Railways. It's relatively easy to reach by catching a train from Southern Cross station in Melbourne.
It has an eclectic mix of carriages too that you may find interesting

Memories... Last summer, I worked for 2 weeks in that area. Stayed in Quorn and drove back and forth to PA for dinner every night. So I drove parallel to that railway line you were on almost every day! I love the scenery there, its so rugged and raw. I also killed 2 kangaroos within 5 minutes one night after dinner on the way back to Quorn from PA. 😐
Ah yes, that IGA. Had the pasties and pies there for lunch. Also went to the Quandong Cafe down the road from there a few times.

I remember visiting Port Augusta in 2005, and I was told to get bottled water there before heading north, as bottled water starts to get very expensive as you head to Woomera, Coober Pedy, etc. Advice I'm glad I heeded, though the tap water in Coober Pedy was very good IIRC. Sadly I was only in Port Augusta for a few hours before heading north, so didn't get to see much of it.

The Old Ghan (what we were on) came from Quorn and the new Ghan came from Port Pirie. The met on the long stretch of railway that leads into Port Augusta and it was amazing to be a part of. I love Quorn.

I'm just wondering, You said in the Video at 3:39 that the Lines to Kalgoolie (I'm presuming that's the Line that goes to Perth Now) and the Line to Darwin pass through the Station, Does this mean The Ghan and Indian Pacific pass through here? Because if it does, it would be a cool place to watch the trains go through.
